How to unlock the Pansy Worm achievement in Renegade Ops - Definitive Guide

This Achievement is story related. It pops up after you defeat the boss on Mission 3, so it can not be missed. The Boss isn't so hard to defeat. Just hide if he runs around and attack him after he comes out of the ground.

Technically the boss is a girl, but yeah, it's a very easy achievement.

Now this is one of the trophies that I think even on hardcore has a bit of a challenge. I had a hard time trying to defeat this thing until I found out that it's going to be really easy with the flamethrower. This trophy is also a very hilarious reference to what Bryant called the panzer wyrm. There are a few phases before you can deal damage to this baby and they go by in this particular order:

  • The wyrm circles around the small forest map (be careful of the terrain) and tries to get you inside its motors. Make sure that you're out of it's way and have at least 10 feet in distance away because its movements are spastic.
  • Second attack is after it burrows into the snow. It reveals itself later again after a few seconds to resurface and launch missiles at you. At the same moment, it reveals its weakpoints at you so shoot the weakpoints! The missiles are really harmless as they are probably dumb rockets (opposed to the smart missiles you get). It's easy to just move a bit and keep on firing, it has two ports so be careful.
  • Last thing that it does is, it goes back into the snow and then releases 10 probes/aircrafts similar to what the golem release. Depending on your character and strategy, you can ignore this (but i'm sure you can't) or kill it (with more firepower). It'll be a hard thing to juggle at the same time as after it releases the pods, it'll revert back to step 1.

Depending on your character and playstyle, there are quite a lot of elaborate ways in dealing with this guy. Here are a few ways with the characters names listed in the front.

Diz is the most useful when the wyrm goes up to the surface to bombard you with missiles. If you have a nasty damage dealing secondary weapon and want to finish the level without any damage, Diz is the character for you. Use the emp when the wyrm surfaces and continuously stream the flamethrower at the wyrm. The DPS from the flamethrower is the deadliest thing about it, as the more exposure you have against the enemy, the more DPS it will deal. DPS is damage per second by the way, and can reach 100-3000 damage. Also useful for the inferno boss battle in the original game.

Roxy is especially useful against the wyrm's annoying summons. Yes, as we suspected, the wyrm has summons! What you have to do is, when you're rattling its health when it resurfaces, you can either use it while its on the surface or wait till it burrows back down to kill the lackies with Roxy's awesome airstrike. Repeating the process will be unnecessary as the second time around, the wyrm will probably be dead.

Gunnar is the most straightforward of the group. All you have to do is to aim at the wyrm with the front of the vehicle arranged to take up all the impact. The shield on gunnar's car (if upgraded) will absorb all the damage while you're holding the button and it deals more or less 1500 damage a shot. 3 shots a second and probably more than 20 shots will kill this baddy.

Last but not the least, Armand. - It's really adviseable to use Armand on the wyrm when you're at least level 30 so you can have four of the slots available. The perks you need to equip are reflective shell (to bounce back the rockets for 1.5k damage) and more time and less cool down for the shields. This is a pretty passive way of dealing with the wyrm and i'd expect you to do this last. Or if you want to have some fun, you can try and do this.
