Banefangs are the green snakes you encounter.
You can just keep playing and passing them until this pops.
If you want to get it quick. Look for the common item called the misting vessel. If you get it early and have only a few items equipped, then you will have 100% stealth and you can just stealth past everything and look for banefangs.
Not sure if this can be done on a single banefang by passing it 10 times. perhaps someone can test and advise.
