Collect 1000 items and this achievement is yours. An item is anything you pick up including the fruit in a lot of the levels. I got this on my 2nd play though going for the "Story Superstar" Achievement with 3 other "Dummy" controllers.
I originally thought that this one would take awhile but it was really actually easy since it counts the fruit.

This works towards ANY pick ups!!! this includes snowballs and any other items like Fruits, ect that can be picked up during a minigame

You will probably get this just by playing the game and working towards the other trophies. The quickest way to do this it to play games that involve fruit to be collected (Barrel Hide, Revealing Wave, Musical Statues, etc) and just go wild in there collecting everything you can as you can easily rack up a good 100-200 items each round if you're quick enough.
