How to unlock the Marathon Session achievement in Rio - Definitive Guide

Here is an idea on how long it would take to get this achievement:

3.5 hours of continuous walking or summed up time walking.

Here is the main reasons for choosing 'Super Mudball' with the parameters of a four (4) human player or four (4) active controllers VS match.
1) The achievements listed later in the post can be all had from this one (1) board.
2) No time limit.
3) The math below is based on this game board.

First, select party games and do verses or verses with quiz. Then select 'Super Mudball' game. Using the 50m samba zombie achievement as a basis for estimate, here is the approximate time in revolutions around the game board border to get this achievement. An actual mile is 1609.344 meters. If we assume that an actual mile is scaled properly in the game, one and a half (1.5) revolutions around the board is 50 meters worth, based on the samba achievement. Multiply the 50 meters by 2 to even out 100 meters per 3 revelutions. Now, by dividing the 1609.344 (meters) by 100 (meters) we get 16.1 (approx.) and then multiply by the 3 revolutions to get 48.3 times around the border to get one (1) mile worth of walking. Finally, multiply by 26 (miles) to get the final number of 1256 revolutions around the border of the game board with about 10 secs (approx.) per a revolution running you a grand total of 3.5 hours of constant circling or running in a corner.

1.5 revolutions = 50 meters
x 2 on both sides
3 revolutions = 100 meters

1609.344 meters = 1 mile
1609.344 / 100 = 16.1
16.1 * 3 = 48.3 revolutions = 1 mile

26 miles * 48.3 revolutions = 1256 revolutions

1256 * 10 sec per revolution = 12560 secs

12560 / 60 secs / 60 minutes = 3.5 hours of continuous walking

Now I know that is a lot of work to receive a number of times to walk your bird around the board and for how long. Here is the reasons I did it.

1) This gives a basic idea of how long it will take to get this achievement.
2) I wanted to show where I came up with the total time of investment into this achievement - straight and continuous walking.
3) I love numbers and I am a straight number geek.

Here is a list of other achievements that can be had from this board alone:

RioBullyguardThe Bullyguard achievement in Rio worth 97 pointsStun 50 players with the bodyguard power-up.

RioSuper ShockerThe Super Shocker achievement in Rio worth 29 pointsHit 100 players with shock and awe.

RioLost In The RhythmThe Lost In The Rhythm achievement in Rio worth 20 pointsRun 50m whilst in a latin trance.

RioChilli CrasherThe Chilli Crasher achievement in Rio worth 17 pointsStun 100 players whilst under the effect of chilli.

RioMultiplayer MasterThe Multiplayer Master achievement in Rio worth 8 pointsWin a game in any mode against 3 human players.

RioCollectathonThe Collectathon achievement in Rio worth 17 pointsCollect 1000 items.

I enjoy every once in a while breaking away from the grind of achievement hunting and do some fun number stuff.

Hope you enjoyed reading and good luck!

Thanks for all the positive feedback! It was fun for me to break down the numbers into its simplest forms and I am glad that you all are enjoying the results. :D

It may also be - which I have not tested - that it is a combined 26 miles across all active (human, not AI) characters running. Thanks for the comment. Always appreciate extra information :D.

Thanks. It mainly is to give an idea of how long it will take in real time.

As good as the maths is I don't think it is correct, I've had it setup for 10 hours now with no achievement.

Well, you are probably doing it wrong. Thanks for the down vote :D

Before you say anything I have voted positive for the time and effort you have put into the solution but I do feel it is wrong.

I have been idle boosting for 16 hours and counting, after getting every other achievement and still nothing. Starting to get the feeling rubber banding doesn't work (as I'm just repeatedly running into a wall) but many people have confirmed it does!

Getting sick now!

Yeah, my solution is not a rubber band solution. You actually have to walk the circle. That is how I got it. Rubber banding it may take longer, can't say for sure.

Hi Guys

I don't want to contradict anyone here, but just explain what worked for me.

The achievement popped in game, instantly after my speed boots power up ran out.

I was on easy, and had all A.I characters. (No humans) It's easy to avoid them on easy.

I had completed most of the game modes, and this took around 1 hour for me of running around afterwards on the super mud ball map, collecting many speed boots.

I'm assuming the guys who are rubber banding are not collecting the speed boots.

I strongly urge anyone who is struggling to get this achievement, to follow the solution and run around in circles while collecting the speed boots.

Excellent solution. I can add that I was either lucky or may have a quicker way to obtain the 26Miles. I had 4 controllers on Dodge Ball and rubberband all 4 set to run against the wall. I completed everything else in the game and with 1 hour of this Dodge ball method the 26mile popped. Someone also posted on ps3trophies that they also got 26miles in dodge ball in approx. one hour. It is possible that we had 3 hours of running (we played quite a bit on VS Quiz to get those questions done) and just needed that final boost.

Best done with you using 4 controllers, or use two and take out the computer. Just go in to a game that has no time limit.
Like the Dogeball, or Mud Dogeball.
*"Blue Shoe power is not needed for this".
Rubber band trick is the best idea here. It does work but there is no way of telling how long it will take. I just let it run in a coner. After I finished all the other achievements I let the game run over night and got it.

After getting every other achievement in the game, for me it took about 2 hours to get this one to pop using the rubber banding method. Obnoxious achievement!

Still 5 hours rubbering but no achievement. Are you sure that 25 miles are commulative or it means 25 miles in a single gaming session?

I did this last night. 2 guitars + 2 wired controllers. I rubber-banded the two sticks toward each other (just wrapped one band around both sticks). When I woke up in the morning I finally had this last achievement.

instead of rubberbanding why not get a turbo controller?

Been doing this a few hours a day for about 3 days, no cheevo. I have every other cheevo in the game I should have walked damn near 26 miles already.. I have 3 reg controllers and a guitar hooked up, the main problem is even tho they are all charged batteries they keep cutting off.. Is there a setting on xbox I'm missing that keeps cutting my controllers off? This cheevo is really annoying me.

Hi Guys, my first one of these but due to my frustration I thought I would post.

This achievement is a lot longer than first though!!!!

Firstly, I would recommend leaving this to last, then depending on your skill level will determine how long you will need to needlessly run around, I completed the story Mode, then achieved Gold on all mini games, and then did the various bits and bobs.

It then took me 7 Hours of rubber banding on Super Mudball with two wired controllers, for this to pop up.

Note it doesnt need to be done with the running shoes.

In my experience this is what it took for rubber banding... Ever after I messed up and had to play the story 3 times... It took much longer than what some of the other solutions suggested.

How I did it:

I hooked up two wired controllers (one regular wired controller, one using the plug and charge cable) so that neither controller would power down from inactivity.

Then I went to Party VS mode, with 2 human players and 2 computer controlled. I loaded up Super Mudball, and quickly killed off the two AI characters so just my characters remained.

Then I hooked a rubber band around the left stick and the grip of the controller so that it was tight enough to be pulled all the way down and a bit to the left, leaving my character running into a wall.

I left it like this for a couple of hours and the achievement popped. I'm pretty sure it's cumulative, I had been running around as much as possible throughout the game as well.

I can't remember if rubberbanding a wireless controller prevents it from powering down or not though.

You will probably get this by the end of your attempt to get the other trophies. This trophy is cumulative and counts across any minigames that involve you moving around on the ground (ie non-flying, dancing, etc type minigames). If you want to try to grind this one out, start a 4 human player game & pick a minigame with no time limit where you are free to move (like Dodge Ball or Snowball Fight) and just keep running around to accumulate the miles. Once you finally have run for more than 26 miles, the trophy will pop!

This was the last trophy I had because... even after winning 200 minigames it didn't drop. To quickly get it, go to the “Mudball” mini-game and connect the second joystick. Get rid of computer bots and run circles around your remaining player without killing him. You can run endlessly until you get the trophy. At the same time, finishing the peats “Good with Fists”, “Lover of Shock” and “Thunderstorm of Pepper”. Since these bonuses appear more often in this minigame than in others.
