I am getting $175 and 140xp with this method, using tape over the A and B buttons.

As you earn stars. you will gain money and XP. You will gain more XP for races later in the game. You should have reached Level 20 before finishing the game - if you have not, you can replay any of the Events and gain more XP, the same amount as when you first played the Event.

You will level up during the Career as you earn XP from winning events. You should reach level 20 early on during the final Cup, assuming you have won all the events so far. You can also replay events to earn the original XP reward over and over again if required.
