How to unlock the Arena Champion achievement in Rise of the Kasai - Definitive Guide

I find the title of this trophy misleading because it is actually awarded for unlocking all of the arenas, not completing them. Arenas are unlocked by completing all of the challenges within each story level. Completing all 5 challenges within story level 1 unlocks arena 1 and so on. There are 11 levels with a total of 45 story level challenges to complete, which thereby unlocks 10 arena levels (level 10 does not unlock an arena). The good news is that you can replay story levels, even specific sub-areas, to complete these story level challenges. The best news is that once you have unlocked a challenge you can head to the nearest save spot and then exit the story level. Save first! The majority of these challenges are straight forward. For convenience I will list all of the challenges just so you can have a complete list. Many of these require you to perform a specific game mechanic, of which the game does explain how to use the controller to get the desired effect. I will only be adding comments for level challenges that are not clear on what you need to do.

A final note is that story level challenges span across all sub-areas (most have four) so they do not have to be completed on a per-area basis. Plus, during level replays you can select a sub-area and do all of the level challenges in just that area (if it is possible), save and then exit. The story level challenges may all be completed individually and in any order but it is more efficient to complete them all before moving on to the next story level. Once you have completed all of the challenges within a story level, large yellow text will flash on the screen saying that you have unlocked a new arena. This trophy will unlock when this occurs after completing the final story level challenge and unlocking the final arena.

Level 1: Tapuroku

1.Bau'Usu or Gar'Usu combo with any weapon.
2. Defend 6 attacks from 6 different enemies.
3. Fua Toko Faahu combo with any weapon.
4. Kill 40 focused enemies.
5. Collect the Tukus.

Level 2: Ngari

6. Stealth kill 15 individual enemies.
7. Stealth kill 2 groups of 2 enemies.
8. Wall stealth 5 enemies.
9. While unarmed, time your defense to disarm the enemy.
10. Discover and use a story shrine.

Level 3: Mount Basuku

11. Kill 20 enemies using Rau's bow.
12. 15 head shots using Rau's bow.

  • You must have a solid X over their head and kill them with one shot. If you wound and then kill them with a head shot it will not count.

13. Use low walls to kill 4 enemies while using Rau's bow.

  • You must "hug" a low wall or crate (like when you are stealthing against a full-sized wall) and then from this position use Rau's bow.

14. While unarmed, time your defense to disarm 3 enemies.
15. Defeat the dragon without using a continue.

  • Use the Invincibility cheat to make this be no skill.

Level 4: Igua Hatu

16. Place Tati's puffers on surfaces to stealth kill 6 enemies.
17. Place Tati's puffers on enemies to stealth kill 5 enemies.
18. Drop barrels to kill 5 enemies.

  • The are only 2 opportunities for this is in the first area; none of the other areas have any. The first one is right at the start and the other is directly north of there. For both boats will pull up and enemies will come out. For both, position your character to be just past where the barrels drop so that the enemies will run straight at you and thereby directly underneath the barrels. Shoot the barrel switch with your range weapon before they reach you and it should smash them but miss you. The most you can get is 4 per try so 8 in total. I found this one annoying as the other character kept running in and getting smashed too. Keep trying.

19. Perform all combos with all weapons using Tati or Rau.

  • I personally found the combos irritating to activate. For me this was literally the hardest thing in the game (even saying that the game is still easy overall). I had to try anywhere from 5-20 times for each combo I was trying to get (and that was even with practice).
  • Press the right side of the to bring up the menu, then select Moves List to see how to perform them. You must perform them all with all 3 melee weapons.
  • The total combo count is 15 (5 for each melee weapon).
  • Bare hands are not considered a weapon (because it does have one combo and I confirmed you don't need it).
  • The range weapon is not needed because it doesn't have combos.
  • I must warn you that the game is not consistent with reporting the combos. It seems that the first time you use a combo with a specific weapon it will flash yellow text across the screen of which combo you performed. Any 2+ times your character only yells it out. This is definitely glitched in that sometimes the flashing yellow text doesn't happen so my point in warning you is this: listen specifically to what the character says and then you will know if they have done the specific combo that you are going for.
  • There is no tracker for this so I recommend methodically doing them in order or using a list that you can cross out.
  • I recommend using the Invincibility cheat so you don't have to worry about dying.

Level 5: Yolo Maibisi

20. Roof stealth 5 enemies.

  • You must use Rau as he is on a different path than Tati. There are 4 opportunities within The City Walls and 1 within The Gardens. You must be quick to stay ahead of Tati or she will take some out first.

21. Stealth kill 4 enemies that have been distracted by gongs.

  • You must use Rau as it requires his bow to ring the gongs. There are 3 opportunities within The City Walls and 3 within The Gardens. You must be quick to stay ahead of Tati or she will take some out first. Every single gong in these two areas will draw a nearby enemy but again you must be swift to get to them first.

22. Stealth kill 3 enemies that have been distracted by ambient creatures.

  • This means birds or monkeys. Use Tati to get an extra opportunity with birds right at the beginning of the level. Just walk up to a monkey to make it run. After the enemy turns around, take them out. Complete before leaving the first two areas.

23. Kill all boat patrol archers.

  • This challenge lies. There are two boats, one in The Gardens and the other in The Prison. The first boat has 1 archer and 1 melee fighter on it. I've confirmed that just killing the archer doesn't do it; you have to take out that melee fighter too (no idea why I didn't take him out the first time around). Each boat has 2 enemies on it, which means you need to defeat these 4 total enemies on 2 boats.
  •

24. Time your defense to shatter an arrow.

  • This is easiest to use Rau. Stand in front of an archer with the Broadsword equipped. Press as the archer fires arrows at you to block one.

Level 6: Vaitaku

25. Perform all combos with all weapons using Baumusu or Griz. (See comment for #19)
26. Use the rope bridge to kill 3 enemies.

  • There are 2 rope bridges within The Breached Wall area. Bunch some enemies behind you and head to the far side. Swing your melee weapon at the diagonal rope holding the bridge to the ground.

27. Use Baumusu to backhand 5 enemies in the face.

  • I don't understand this one at all. Using bare hands I was able to slap enemies in the face with a double tap of but it did not complete the level challenge (I had to have done 20 different enemies). I even made sure to kill them in this manner to no avail. When this finally unlocked I was actually using the Broadsword and was just spamming . I have no idea what happened there because visually he was just swinging away. If someone can figure this one out, please let me know.
Quote by genolas77: "You have to hit an enemy that is to your left or right of you while facing the enemy in front. It is similar to a challenge from The Mark of Kri."

28. Split 15 torsos.

  • You must use Baumusu and his Narga weapon. Occasionally it will split the enemies in half.

29. Kill 5 archers with a head shot. (See comment for #12)

Level 7: Dai Haru

30. Place Tati's puffers on surfaces to stealth kill 3 enemies.

  • Can be completed using only the first area Forest Edge.

31. Place Tati's puffers on enemies to stealth kill 9 enemies.

  • Can be completed using only the first area Forest Edge.

32. Stealth kill 5 archers using Rau's bow.

  • There are 3 archers in the first area Forest Edge and 3 boat archers in the second area Riverside.

33. Stealth kill 6 horn carriers using Rau's bow.
34. Defeat the tentacles without using a continue.

Level 8: Rutu Tei Huru

35. Perform all combos with all weapons using Tati or Rau (See comment for #19)
36. Place Tati's puffers on enemies to stealth kill 4 enemies.
37. Stealth kill 5 horn carriers using Rau's bow.

Level 9: Haasa

38. Stealth kill 2 archers using Rau's bow.

  • There are 4 possible targets in this one-area level.

39. Stealth kill 2 horn carriers using Rau's bow.

  • There are only 2 possible targets in this one-area level (most of the horn carriers are armored). The first one is near the beginning. For the last one you must beat Tati to the top otherwise she will engage in melee combat. This second target patrols behind the 2-archer bridge.

40. Place Tati's puffers on surfaces to stealth kill 6 enemies.

  • There are only 6 patrolling enemies in this one-area level and you must beat Rau to the top otherwise he will engage in melee combat.

41. Place Tati's puffers on enemies to stealth kill 5 enemies.

  • Halfway up the structure Tati will encounter a roamer that goes back to 4 stationary enemies. You can knock out this challenge in one throw.

Level 10: Kri

There are no challenges in this level.

Level 11: Tiru

42. While unarmed, time your defense to disarm 3 enemies.
43. Crush 4 heads.

  • You must use Griz and his Buss Daken weapon. Occasionally it will crush the enemies' head.

44. Split 7 torsos. (See comment for #28)

45. Perform all combos using Baumusu's Sword and Huatar or using Griz's Gollok and Arbur. (See comment for #19)

  • This was hands-down the hardest challenge in the entire game as you have limited enemies and time to do this. All I can say is keep practising and memorize exactly what each combo actually looks like (how exactly the character performs the move) so you can be really sure you did the combo.
