Chucklestyle's strategy is the one to go with. Save up $60, make the trek a bunch of screens to the right to Oak Mall, buy Grand Slam. Head back bosses to grind up $100. Go get Excalibur. Get a chain along the way (has reach/highest damage). You 1 shot both bosses while they are talking once you're set up. Save scum using suspend save to save health and travel safely to buy upgrades.

EDIT: For getting back across the gap with the ledge you can't easily get back up, you need to get a really big running start to increase jump distance, sprint at it, and jump, while positioned at the very top of the screen. If you jump at just the right time, from the top of the screen, with the big wind up, you can clear the gap and get back to the boss farm.

If you want to help boost your weapons in the early game while trying to grind Benny & Clyde, the mall/shops right before them (Waterfront Mall) has "Merv's Burger Joint". Several cheap items. In particular, under Drinks, is "Soda", costing $1.10. It only heals 8 stamina, but it does provide +1 weapon. You can use this to boost your weapon attack to make these two easier. With enough weapon stat, you can knock them out with two blows of the stick before they stop talking. Just beware that if you use the chain, there's a point where your weapon stat is enough to knock them down in one blow, but not actually kill them. Use some more Sodas to make them go down in one hit instead.

What do they mean by reset? Can I not use the save feature and then play the game again the next day? Does it have to be in one sitting?


Edit* I tried closing the game, reopening the game and made it pop. I think the "No Resets" simply means you can't purchase some in one game and then some in another. Must all be bought in the same game save.

I was grinding this spot without the grand slam or Excalibur. Benny and Clyde both died by a running #Stone hand. You just gotta take a running start for both of them.
