There are 6 manuals.
Feared it was glitchy as mine didn't unlock upon buying and reading the 6th manual.
I then went through and re-read each book from the inventory, and then it popped.
Books are as follows;
Stone Hands - $26.95
Dragon Feet - $26.95
Acro Circus - $26.95
Fatal Steps - $37.50
Grand Slam - $57.50
Javelin Man - $78.25

In case anybody was wondering you can use the suspend save feature, just make sure not to hit reset or use a password. I just continued grinding after a break and reloaded a save and unlocked this achievement.
