How to unlock the Hometown Threwdown achievement in Rock Band 3 - Definitive Guide

In the Career section, the second heading under My Goals consists of Road Challenges. The first of these challenges is Hometown Throwdown. There are six songs to beat, broken into three challenges of two songs each.

To earn a medal in the challenge, you need to earn both stars and "spades" in the songs. Spades are earned through side-challenges that add to your performance rating if you can pull them off. The highest combination of stars and spades you can earn is 60 (five stars and five spades in each of the six songs).

The first challenge requires you to earn note streaks to earn spades. The second requires you to engage overdrive to earn them. The third requires you to pull off each section of the song with a target degree of accuracy. The lengths of these sections varies throughout the song. Some of the sets will allow you to use a custom setlist, but others will require certain songs or random setlists to be performed. In all cases you have a choice of three different setlist configurations to choose from.

Once you have completed all six songs (Note that I can't yet confirm whether you have to "medal" in the challenge, or just play all six songs), the Achievement will unlock.

On the Main Menu just go to "Road Challenge" and choose this one.

You just need to complete it on any difficulty and instrument. You can use the "No Fail" modifier too. You'll unlock more challenges as you gain more fans.

Just pass all the songs in the challenge. This can be done on any instrument on any difficulty.
