If you don't get this by playing a full season and achieving it with one of your players, this approach worked for me:
Start a new NRL or SL season, and choose to control all the teams. Simulate every game in every round (should take around 10-15 minutes) including the finals. I played the Grand Final to try and get some of the other achievements but you could probably simulate that too.
The achievement dropped for me back at the menu screen after playing the Grand Final.
Jarryd Hayne was the top points scorer and wasn't in either of the Grand Final teams so I assume this strategy would also work for the "Try Machine" and possibly "Star Player" achievements.

When in an NRL or SL season, try to score as many tries as you can with one player and make that player the goal-kicker. This will give that player 6 points each time he scores a try with a successful conversion. Alternatively, you can select every team in an NRL or SL season and simulate every game. The trophy will pop after the Grand Final while saving.
