Got more than 9 hours logged on here, no achievement yet. Either it works based on amount of time directly in levels, or it's not 8 hours, or mine is bugged.

As the two before me have stated, it's 8 hours of play time.
If you want to boost this achievement, what user "xxx AL" said would work very well. However, boosting is not necessary. I currently have picked up all the little, side achievements as well as completing and getting 3 medals on half of the adventure mode. This has net me at 6 hours* of play time. If you are going for 100% completion, then don't worry about this achievement. If not, play the game until you are finished getting achievements, then boost this.
*Majority of that was from 1 Bowhemoth run.. took me an hour and 45 minutes.

Seems you can't just sit in any mode and expect the tracker to move. I tried sitting next to the trophy on the first level for an hour and the tracker barely moved. Instead, I selected Bowhemoth and right at the start, move to the left so that you fall into the pit. Lather, rinse, repeat.
