Once you've got over 100 points (not sure if you can go negative in your rep score), back up your existing career to a memory card if you're attached to it, then just deliberately lose races by pausing as soon as the race starts and choosing 'abort session'.
I had to do this for four events in an SBK team and I got the achievement, thanks to failing to meet a number of my team's goals, you might need more or less depending on how many points they deduct from you). In theory I could now win pretty much every remaining race in this season and carry on as if nothing ever happened, or continue to fail to get the Your Life Is A Failure achievement.
Protip: Don't 'skip time' at the pit screen, scroll the menu to the right and choose Session... now you can jump right to the final race to fail it immediately and bypass half a dozen loading screens.

If you keep playing career mode the max you can have is 999 reputation.
However if you win a race once at 999 is will add the reputaion the next race so you will have more. The next race you complete it will drop you back to 999.
I had 999 going into the last race of the season and afterwards with the championship bonus my score showed as 1125. Started new season and quit straight to the race once complete achievement unlocked.

Quick correction to my above comment.
It was actually round 2 (race 4) of season 4.

Confirmed just had the same thing for me.
I was maxed at 999 during the middle of season 3, and my score kept popping over 999, then dropping down again for the remaing races of the season.
When I won the 3rd season you get the extra 100 points and the usual points that come from winning races, which in theory pumps your score to over 1100, although it will only show the 999 or just over 1000.
After completing race 1 of season 4, the achievement popped, even though my score is showing 1035.
I was maxed at 999 during the middle of season 3, and my score kept popping over 999, then dropping down again for the remaing races of the season.

This trophy is earned during your main career mode attempt. Once you have completed all the other main career trophies you will be with an SBK team who will expect you to do well each season, so last place finishes will cost you plenty of reputation. Keep doing this for races until you have lost 100 points. It should take just over 1 season. To speed through this simply skip to the race and as soon as it starts press 
and go to Abort; you won't have to do the race and you will automatically finish last.
