How to unlock the Amateur Winner achievement in SEGA Bass Fishing - Definitive Guide

This achievement is a lot easier than it may at first seem its all about having the right lure at the right time. The amateur tournament is made up of 5 stages each stage consists of 3 rounds, morning, noon and evening. The results are based on the total weight of all fish caught. For the morning sessions use the Shallow Crank lure. Noon use the Straight Worm lure on occasion the fish seem a bit fussy with this lure on them occasions change to the Pencil Bait. For the evening sessions again use the Shallow Crank lure. The stages will alternate between The Lodge area and The Bridge area. When on The Bridge area, after picking your lure push X on your 360 controller and change fishing location to Reeds area this will greatly improve the amount of fish you catch. When on The Lodge area stay there and reap the rewards. At the end of each stage [ after you see the results ] the game saves so if you dont get desired result return to dashboard and you can return to game and reply the stage again. Do not push A on results screen unless happy with your results.Hope this helps

This is the hardest tournament of all of them. Ridiculous.

For some reason this achievement is a nightmare for me. I can only get around 2nd or 3rd on round 1 of stage 1 and then fall right off after that. I caught over 30lbs on first round and was 2nd... Then I have a bad first round of like 11lbs and first was only 25lbs.

You are a God because this worked wonders for me, though I personally found the Pencil Bait to work better for me at the final stage than the Shallow Crank, but it was still tougher than the rest of them were.

Just a quick mention as well for anyone else who may be interested, if you do enough in the first 3 stages, you may be lucky enough to win this regardless of your position in the last two. I placed 2nd, 1st and 2nd, followed by 10th and 13th and still managed to place first overall.
