How to unlock the Nasty Headache achievement in Shadows of the Damned - Definitive Guide

I found that chapter 3-2, the swampy level where Paula keeps drowning, was the best place to do this. After you're done with the wooden catwalk, you'll go through a metal gate and across a wooden bridge, you'll come to an area with lots of cages. The first two on the left will be empty (at least they were for me on normal difficulty) and the last cage on the right before the demon pubes will have a hell monkey in it. Let him go, but instead of letting him envelop the world in darkness like he's supposed to, kill him. Monkeys will keep spawning infinitely in the cage you released him from. I found that using the Hot Boner worked best, line up your shot with the cage, adjust a little each time, easy head shot. Took me three tries (kept messing up on the 5th shot), but since they just keep coming, and they appear one at a time, it shouldn't be too difficult to get.

Note: In my experience for the head shot to count it has to be one where it slows down and zooms in on the kill, and they have to be consecutive, if you hit one in the shoulder or something, then hit it in the head and it just slumps over decapitated, you will have to start the count over.

Shadows of the DamnedThat's So Hot!The That's So Hot! achievement in Shadows of the Damned worth 20 pointsDefeat 20 enemies with the HOTBONER

I also got the "That's So Hot!" achievement using this method. If you miss a few times you'll end up killing 10-20 monkeys with it, so it should pop around the same time if you've been killing demons with the Hot Boner regularly up to this point.

This spot worked out great. I stood a few feet from the cage and just lined up the sight for where it's head would be when it spawned in. After a few tweaks, it was pretty easy. Thanks for the tip on where to do this.

This was incredibly easy with your guide. Thank you!
might want to mention that you need to close the cage after you open it the first time. The monkeys just sit still after they spawn.

After trying at various stages in the game and always managing to screw it up or get 4 headshots only to find the next enemy was a mini-boss(top of the church for instance) I was getting slightly frustrated with this achievement.....then I looked here. Absolutely bloody brilliant solution mate, got it first attempt. Thanks for posting, top marks from me!

You don't need to open it, just position G in front of the door and tweak the aim slightly, as many headshots as you want.

Just got this, if anyone like me just past that area well you will come to a point where you need to fight 2 boss kind of guys where you need to shoot the things like lamps on their head by charging your gun with RB , before you do that run up to the cage on the left at the back (the 2 boss guys didnt seem to attack me there) and aim up your shot and keep it in the same place as you did when you first got the animation as when they spawn again you will not even need to move your aim at all , well i never and after the 5th bang cheevo !

I found this easiest to do at the very beginning of the game as the demons seem to move slower. You have to kill 5 enemies in the row with a headshot. Despite what some say, this is not glitched, just picky. The headshot has to be where the camera zooms in, slows down, and the head explodes. If you hit a demon someplace else and then kill him by shooting him in the head (no camera zoom, just seeing the head fly), the counter starts over. Anyway, at the beginning of the game, there are maybe 8? demons, I managed to get it after screwing up in the middle.

I also found this was easy to do...since you don't even have a health bar yet you can let them come up as close as possible, and just aim right at their head.

I did it here and it is easy to get. I got it on my first try. Just let em come at ya and shoot. You CAN miss the demon and carry on the chain ( I did)- but if you hit any other part of the demon you have to start again.

Yep, exactly where I got the achievement as well..Like Tom, I mucked up the chain (hit the wall) but I still got it. And they don't hurt you either :D

I'm not entirely sure about this, maybe this glitched for me, but ...

I got the achievement in this location. However, it took me a few tries (and had to watch the intro cut-scene over and over and over). Every time I messed up and had to re-start.

Well, the final time the achievement popped after head-shotting the first demon (that popped out of Paula) and the first two that jumped out of the window after the next cut-scene. That was only three consecutive head-shots.

Since on my last attempt prior to starting over, I never killed the demon a didn't get the head-shot on. Maybe it carried over the previous head-shots?

looks solid, I also did this achievement
Shadows of the DamnedBlood On The Dance FloorThe Blood On The Dance Floor achievement in Shadows of the Damned worth 22 pointsDefeat 10 enemies with the Stomp Attack
so there are definitely more than 8, I think there are about 12 demons in that part of the game

For anybody struggling with this I suggest using the machine gun (teether?). Aim just above the head of the demon and let rip. As the gun dips with recoil the first bullet usually hits the head.

Might not work for you guys but it's worth a try.

I find that the best way to get this achievement is in act 3-2. There is a long stretch of river/swap in the act in which Paula repeatedly drowns. There are many sunken houses and 3 demons infinitely respawn out of the water. Keep attempting and practicing shooting those 3 demons in the head until you eventually get it. They never stop respawning, so you can take as long as you need. There should be a couple of respawning red boxes of ammo around the edges of the swap should you run out of Boner ammo.

While sometimes the requirements vary for no discernible reason, generally you have to hit them in the head with the first shot that connects. (You'll know you got it right if the game goes into slow-motion, the camera zooms in to their exploding head and Garcia quips.) You ARE allowed to miss shots, provided that you miss the demon completely. If you shoot a demon anywhere but the head, the counter usually resets back to zero. (Sometimes it does not and will still give you a point if you still kill it with a headshot after already damaging it. Just don't count on that happening.) You may be allowed to strike/melee demons without resetting your counter, but I wouldn't risk it. You're allowed to get hit, but it'd be bad to run out of liquor.

Take your time, practice headshots and try not to get rattled by the demons. Roll and run away if they crowding you; you need to take every headshot as calmly as you can. You want the whole affair to be as controlled as possible. Don't shoot them if they're attacking you in groups or running. If you're nervous/desperate for that headshot or feeling twitchy, you're probably doing it wrong and will mess up when you're 3 or 4 shots in. Again, you can take as long as you need to get the hang of headshots.

The easiest way to get this achievement is by getting the 5 headshots in a row during the chapter 1-1 tutorial mission before you pick your difficulty setting. You can get this on your first playthrough or during one of the subsequent ones when you are used to getting headshots on tier 1 demons. Aim right at the center of the Peak of the demon's forehead or slightly above his head as this will eliminate any stray shots generally hitting shoulders. You are allowed to miss shots BETWEEN headshots but you CANNOT shoot other body parts. you can tell you got a headshot if the camera/time slows down into black and white and zooms in on the headpop.

This was the first REAL trophy I earned (aside from the 'You Go To Hell' trophy). It can be tough when you just start out, but having played it on the Xbox, I had some practice. What you need to do is use your Boner (laugh) and simply aim for the head. I got it in Garcia's apartment, as there are many weak baddies. Let them get a few feet away from you, and watch the laser that comes from the gun. It may take some time, but with enough patience (and learning the enemies movements), this is actually an easy trophy to unlock.

I also found a easy spot to get this,I'm not 100% on the chapter (I believe it to be after Bughunt). Once you've escaped the town, you'll be in a swampy moaty area. As you progress, you'll come to an area with cages, Garcia will say, "Who put these hellmonkeys in cages?" You'll need to use your LightShot on a cage to free one of them to douse the goat head to destroy a switch. DON'T RELEASE IT. Instead, position yourself in front of the cage and with some maneuvering, you can kill the demon in the cage and it'll continue to respawn. This will allow you to get it with no effort.

As the trophy description says, you'll need to perform 5 head shots in a row with any weapon except the Big Boner, so use another weapon such as The Teether. You'll know you've performed a head shot when a slow motion camera effect triggers. If you shot a Demon's head off but the camera effect didn't occur, it won't count. Note that you can miss a shot and it'll still count towards your five in a row, provided your bullets don't hit the Demons anywhere else.

If you want to do it early on, you can do this in the very beginning of the game, when your apartment gets overrun with demons. Things won't be as chaotic and they'll slowly come at you, so take your time. Though keep in mind there's only a limited amount of demons before the game automatically continues.

The best place to earn this is during Act 3-2. After facing your first Cyber Demon, make your way back towards the bridge. The bridge will collapse and you'll fall into the water. In order to progress, you'll need to find Paula who is drowning somewhere in this body of water. Instead of of looking for here, run around until Demons start coming towards you; they will be coming towards you in groups of three. Demons will keep spawning in this area until you reach Paula so keep practicing your head shots until you get your 5 in a row.

A little trick I learned to use, was to wait for one of them to come at you with a slash or a jump kick. Dodge backwards then quickly aim with your weapon. They should stay still long enough for you to aim at their head before they attack again. Try your best to keep your distance, but not too close.

OR, if you're really having trouble, you can abuse this cheap trick during Act 3-2. Should be self explanatory enough:

Perform five head shots in a row, and the trophy will pop.

Everything is clear from the name. You can do it already in the first chapter. The main thing is to aim accurately. I think it will be unnecessary to say, if you miss and kill the demon in another part of the body, the chain will have to start over. Everything should work out easily, you can miss and hit another part of the enemy’s body, the main thing is that he doesn’t die from it.

Unfortunately, if you hit the demon in another part of the body, the chain is broken and this demon will no longer be counted, even if you hit the head with the second shot. You need to kill 5 people precisely in the head, without hitting other parts of the body. An accurate hit is indicated by a mini-video of a bullet tearing the demon's head apart. And so 5 mini-videos in a row.

The essence of the achievement is to kill in the head with the first shot (so it would be shown in slow motion)

It's best to practice in a cemetery where you'll see a bloody X on the ground, and when the creature that summons the demons appears, don't kill it. Just come out of the darkness and wait for the demons to come to you.

You don’t have to worry about the cartridges; on the side of the entrance to the cemetery, between the tombstones, there are cartridges from a pistol, and on the opposite side in the tomb there are cartridges from a machine gun. They are restored periodically.

Ps It’s better to aim with a machine gun, start shooting next to the demon’s head at shoulder level and without releasing the firing trigger, move the weapon towards the head, it should be easy.

(Pss, you can also get the Stingy Bastard achievement and earn money for High in Las Vegas (you need to get 3600 crystals if you do it on easy and 6000 crystals if you do it on medium, you didn’t get it on hard)
