Kill 80 challenges

How to unlock the Mass Murderer achievement in Skate 3 - Definitive Guide

There are 83 challenges available to kill. You must grab 80 of them, obviously leaving you with three 'passes'.
This is undoubtedly the hardest achievement in the game, but far from unobtainable.

You can view your current progress at the skate 3 website:
http://skate.ea.com/user
(You must log in)

Challenges that can be killed:
- 12 Film Challenges
- 19 Hall of Meat Challenges
- 16 Own The Spots
- 9 Pro Challenges
- 9 Death Races
- 9 Thrasher Photos
- 9 TSM Photos

The requirements to Kill the challenge can be found under Challenge Map > Challenges/Completed, and seen by selecting it.

NOTE: You can also kill DLC challenges in order to get this. Credit to JuicyLemurTats for that, which now makes the achievement that much easier.

General tips:
- Getting off your board and sprinting onto it (Hold A + then press Y) is faster than pushing. Use the speed to your advantage.
- Own the Spot challenges are best saved for online - you can jam with friends, whereas the other challenges will require you to both Kill it.
- The Trick Guide within the menus can be your saving grace for a lot of these. If you're not quite hitting the required trick every time, use it! Practice it! It's no good coming close and messing the trick up, that will only frustrate you.

Please feel free to leave any suggestions/problems you encounter. As I've said, this isn't the easiest achievement, so share your experiences.

I have recently unlocked this achievement and would like to add to this guide a useful technique I found on the web for making at least some of the challenges a bit easier to kill. Here's what to do:

1. Sign up for the challenge.
2. Skate/run around the challenge area, and take note of where the boundaries of the area are. Sometimes there will be an obvious boundary overlaid on the ground, but at the very least you will see a message appear on screen when you cross the boundaries.
3. Quit out of the challenge.
4. Return to the place(s) just OUTSIDE of the challenge area, and use the object dropper to place some rails or ramps or any object that will make the challenge easier for you to kill.
5. Sign up for the challenge again.
6. Now go back to the object(s) you placed and drag them to where they will be most useful. You might again see a message when you cross the boundaries, but if you are quick you can drag the object back within the challenge area straight away. If you take too long, you will be returned to the session marker, but the object will stay where you dragged it to, so just go and drag it some more. It is also worthwhile to add the object to the session marker once placed exactly where you want them, so they will reset to the intended position each time.
7. Kill the challenge. :)

The most important point here is that the objects you place must be outside of the challenge area. When you sign up for the challenge, the area is cleared of any unintended objects, so if you drag them in first they will disappear on you. Dragging them in from outside the area while the challenge is active is the only way.

This helped me particularly on "Dozer Grind" and "Sign of the Grinds", two challenges where a lot of height off your ollies is required - I dropped and dragged in a dragon rail object to help get the height in the air more easily.

I got 3 Spots, that I have to kill. So I can play "Own the Spot" online and when someone reached the kill target score, I killed the spot aswell? Or am I wrong now?

Nope, maybe I wasn't clear there.

You personally have to kill the spot, but it will still count even if none of the others manage it. The reason I recommend doing them online is because they're the best for social play (you don't depend on your partner).

Excellent tip for sure, there are a few where an extra ramp can make all the difference.
Dozer Grind actually features a moveable ramp within the challenge area.

Though I can't confirm it, there seems to be a glitch with the skate site, so that your killed challenges aren't correctly recorded/displayed. According to the site, I obtained this challenge when I had 73 challenges unlocked. However, there were only three challenges left in the game.
Just a heads up for anyone relying on the site.

I'm not sure if they count towards this achievement (and can't check as I already have it). I'll do a bit of research and if it is the case, I'll update this.

some challenges seem bugged, the terry kennedy fakie flip to rail on his vid. after searching I've found quite a lot of people have trouble with this. for me a fakie flip wouldn't work, I unlocked it with a half-cab (fakie 180).

I had 3/4 killed in the free After Dark dlc and they didn’t count towards my achievement .. so I unlocked it at 85/89 killed challenges

I finished the entire game, all achievements but this one are left. I finished 100 challenges, am I the first that this achievement glitched out on? Am I doing something wrong? This is driving me crazy. Lol

^^^ there is a difference between owning and killing, you need to check challenge requirements while a challenge is active. or on the challenge map look at the legend and it will show you the image for owned and killed now check it against you completes challenges

Can you do this while playing co-op? Like, if all the players kill the challenge, can you get the achievement for killing 80 challenges or does it not count if you do it online?

Don't underestimate the ability of a well-timed footplant and the ability to place objects, especially with Own the Spot challenges. In order to kill several of the more difficult ones I simply placed a long line of rails through the appropriate area and grinded my way to a higher score. Footplants are useful in keeping your score going, especially since it seemed like manualling out of a trick sequence ended said sequence.

There are 4 in the Maloof NYC DLC (2 OTS, 2 photo), and 4 in the After Dark DLC (2 OTS, 1 film, 1 photo - DLC no longer available?)

I don't have the other DLCs, but it looks like 8 in San Van, and maybe the same in Danny Way. I have no idea about the Black Box skate park.

So I guess you still need to aim for 60-70 of the challenges in the main game.

Bit more on this now I have the DLC: There seem to be 6 killable challenges in the Danny Way DLC and 8 in the San Van DLC.

I got this game on a recent sale and really enjoying it and wanting to 100% it but when I go to the website you suggest (http://skate.ea.com/BinaryBomb or even skate.ea.com) I get taken to www.ea.com/skate-3... Is this no longer a website that can be used? I'm also not getting on to anything online. Any suggestions?

This is a very good guide - thanks!

Just want to add that the spots from the free After Dark DLC (Sanatorium) can also be used towards this achievement.

Weird, I have 83 challenges killed and no cheevo. I’m missing three of the main game challenges, and have a couple DLC challenges done. I’m missing There she Blows, That Manual (where you have to Nollie 180 the GAP to manual the ramp thing, seriously so damn annoying to do, and the other one I’m missing can’t remember lol.

Own the spots are unlocked when you find the spot, not necessarily when own the lot is complete.

Yeah I figured that out lol, still I think one of the DLCs challenges don’t count towards this because I now have 85 challenges killed and still no cheevo, or I have really shitty luck and my achievement is glitched.

@WillGoss12, have to count them in game menus since EA don’t operate the website anymore. I found the easiest way is via the mycareer page

I wouldn't say they're bugged as such, it's more the mechanics of the game. For example, with the fakie flip, the game only registers fakie tricks for a few seconds.
By performing a half cab, you were in fact meeting the requirements (and a little bit extra). I've killed all the challenges, and found no issues/bugs along the way.

Truly painful at times . . . All I can suggest to people is have patience, if you're good enough, you WILL get it it. Having as much DLC as possible helps too, i've got all DLC released and found some of the DLC challenges to be much easier than the retail ones.

There's no real trick so to speak, it's all down to personal ability. As they said, it's easier to Own Challenges, but more difficult to Kill them, and i'm in agreement, much harder than Skate 2 IMO . . . A worthy 50G for anyone who obtains it ;-)

@KaMAkAzl v2, it sure can be done, yes. The easiest difficulty is actually the easiest difficulty, so this difficulty is preferred by many.

This is the hardest achievement to get in this game, as 'killing' some of the objectives is just plain ridiculous. To 'kill' an objective, you must complete more than what is asked. When you go to accept a challenge, sometimes where the objective details are displayed, you will see it flash and tell you the 'Killed' objectives. If you have completed a challenge already, you can go back and retry which will give you the "Kill it" option. Ex. (owned) Beat a score of 1000 (killed) Beat a score of 1500. There are only 83 challenges that you can kill in the single player.

The challenge types that you can (kill/how many there are) is as follows.

  • Films 12/12
  • Hall of Meat 19/20
  • Own the Spot 16/16
  • Pros 9/19
  • Races 9/9
  • Thrasher Photos 9/9
  • TSM Photos 9/9

This is the hardest trophy in the game, and will come over time. In order to "Kill" a challenge, you must do more than is asked when you first accepted it. You will have to go back and retry every challenge after owning it so you can see the "Kill" objectives. These are harder than "Owning" objectives, so some challenges might be pretty tricky. Don't be afraid to switch to easy difficulty if you are having trouble, because killing some of these challenges can be ridiculous. There are a total of 83 Challenges you can "Kill" in the Career. Here is a list of all the "Kill-able" challenges in each category:

Films 12/12
Hall of Meat 19/20
Own the Spot 16/16
Pros 9/19
Races 9/9
Thrasher Photos 9/9
TSM Photos 9/9

Use DJ_BLACK_SHEEP's Challenge Guide if you are having trouble killing challenges: https://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/ska...es-videos.html

Together with the tasks from the add-ons, you can complete 105 tests on killed:

The Art Gallery 8/9

Danny Way's Hawaiian Dream 6/11

Films 12/12

Hall of Meat 19/20

Maloof Money Cup 4/7

Own The Spot 16/16

Pros 9/19

Races 9/9

After Dark 4/4

Thrasher Photos 9/9

TSM Photos 9/9

kills from add-ons are also taken into account and it is not necessary to perform everything. You can choose easier tasks. Most kills are 4-5 out of 10 in difficulty, so won't make you wait long
