How to unlock the Emblem Mania achievement in Sonic Adventure 2 - Definitive Guide
Beat each campaign: 158 emblems - 5 for each stage and 3 for finishing each version of the story.
A rank with each character: 6 emblems (164 total) - you must A rank each mission of each stage. Search youtube for guides if you have trouble. The game is fairly old so there are many tips and tricks to getting these fairly easily.
Beat boss attack for each campaign: 3 emblems (167 total) - self explanatory
Beat each difficulty in kart racing: 3 emblems (170 total) - again, there are numerous guides posted for this, so do a bit of googling for tips or check youtube to see how other players do it.
Chao races: 6 emblems (176 total) - You'll need both a hero and dark
chao, and each will need to be pretty highly skilled to win all the races. Continue racing to unlock more events. The angel/devil events are probably the hardest. A chao with 99 stats will make it easy. Scroll down for how to raise your chao quickly.
Beat each difficulty of chao karate: 4 emblems (180 total) - This goes hand in hand with the races. You'll need a single strong chao of any type. A chao with 99 stats will make it easy. Scroll down for how to raise your chao quickly.
How to make a chaos chao (Not necessary, but it's here in case you like the look) - Raise a chao until it is reborn twice. In its third life, give your chao at least one of every animal, and ensure it has even stats. This means you must give it N of every animal, or do some messing around to even out its stats and ensure it's not skewed towards any one stat. To keep it simple, I recommend you do not give it more than one of any animal. Feed it chao fruit or coconuts until it evolves, at which point it should turn into a semi-translucent chao with fish-like features and soulless gumdrops for eyes. These chao are immortal and can therefore be raised to very high levels.

The absolute quickest way to boost your chao stats:
Load up pumpkin hill and fly through the red balloon in front of you and dig inside the ring of stone on the next platform. Head left towards the next platform and use the rocket to launch directly up. Land in the graveyard and near the back left a skeleton dog will be running around. Grab him then pause and restart the track. Repeat.
Once you have 10 skeleton dogs, go to the chao garden and instead of handing them to your chao, stand a small distance away and put them down just in front of the chao. The proper distance is about the width of your character away. If you do it correctly, your chao will gain stats but you can re-use the animal. Repeat this as much as possible (that's why you got 10, because sometimes you will get too close and use the animal normally). Doing this, you can get to level 99 running (and maybe a few others) in about 1.5-2 hours. That should make it easy to win most everything. For other stats, it's recommended to use special creatures since they won't reduce other stats. These include the dragon in aquatic mine with knuckles for strength (get all 3 chao boxes), the half-fish in green forest with sonic for swimming (all 3 chao boxes), and the phoenix from meteor herd with knuckles for flying (again, get all 3 chao boxes). You should be fine with max running for most races but for karate and a few of the final races your other stats should be maxed as well.
Keep at it and take breaks. Some of the levels are very frustrating, so don't feel like you have to rush to finish this. Keep trying and you'll eventually have it.
The video below gives you a guide towards acing all the stages with each character.
I can't seem to find what my Chao stats would have to be (minimum) to win all the races and karate fights. Can I do it with one of the first eggs or do I have to get a Chao with S level growth abilities in order to reach high enough stats? Do I need to get a Chaos (Immortal) Chao? Is it more efficient to raise one Neutral Chao so I can race him in both the Hero and Dark races?
Basically, if someone could explain the bare minimum I need to do and how high my stats need to be just to get the Achievements, that would be terrific.
Start with skeleton dogs until run is 99. Then grab some otters from Dry Lagoon to get swim to 99, then use condors from Sky Rail to get fly to 99. If power isn't at 99 yet, use some more skeleton dogs to top it off. To raise stamina quickly, take your chao to the hero garden and shove as much of the fruit down his gullet as you can. For some reason the hero garden fruit raises stamina much faster then the normal fruit. A stamina of 50 was plenty for me, you might even be able to get away with less.
Also, DemonDuffeh is right, the achievement will delay if your last emblem is from a Chao race or karate. I believe the achievement is set to unlock when the game saves, which is when you exit the garden. My achievement popped right as I exited and the "Saving..." text showed on the screen.
The best and quickest way I think would be to make a hero and dark run type as most tracks mainly running for harder races. Since I had lower running than a run type I found it a close race or had to use stamina to keep up whereas a run type would speed ahead and have no problems. You will have one low stat but you can either use stamina boost in running areas to get a head start or blast to finish line or to give u help during your weakest area on track. I tried to win all races before at level 99 in all but I wasn't quick enough though when I won all races my power was still only at 1500 but I needed it near full to win karate but with high speed you can get a ring out quickly with low power.
You will have to do it twice for the hero and dark races. For my second chao to do the dark race (opposite to what alinment your first chao was) i made him a speed type and leveled his speed and stamina to level 99 ending up with 2700 run. For the races, power and flying arnt as needed as you can catch up with your high speed so i left these at around 600-700. Swimming is needed though due to large pool near finish line of 3 of the races. I got swimming to 1200 and was able to beat the chaos chao easily. If you have low swimming just increase power or flying to make up time lost in pool. You do not have to get full stats like the first chao to do karate and other races so just try and aim for these base stats and only level up more if you think you need it.
I just grinded out animals instead of chaos drives. As soon as you get 10 animals you can exit stage and go straight to chao garden. I will not explain exact locations for all animals exploring level you can find enough easily and pick what route best for you and it will be difficult to point out all locations. Just remember to whistle in pipes if you find one.
I got speed up by grinding city escape getting all wild animals (not hard to spot and whistle in pipes if you find them) and 3 chao boxes for the unicorn for high speed boost.
I got power up in rouges finding keys level in pyramid (forgot name) by collecting bears and gorillas from enemies (tryed to avoid skunks) and if you get 2 parrots you also get one level for flying every run. I basically did one lap of outside level killing all enemies on the way. In blue hub i hit rocket and went into middle area and broke raised crate on ground to right for chao key and broke 2nd chao box in plain sight to right later for bonus animals.
For swimming and flying I boosted metal harbour as sonic. I collected all flying and swimming animals again avoiding raccoons. I got first chao box after first time you use light dash it is hidden to left in mini building before second light dash. I also got second chao box before spring to rocket for extra animals. When giving chao the animals just be careful of seals as they lower flying.
This may not be best method but I found it to be quick and good way to get quick levels.
For this trophy you must unlock all 180 emblems in the game, this will be the end all be all trophy. Getting all the emblems basically means completing everything in the game, lets take a look a quick breakdown at the emblems and how they are split up:
- 155 emblems rewarded for clearing all the missions in each stage.
- 6 emblems for A-Ranking all of a characters missions (Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Shadow, Rouge, Dr. Eggman)
- 3 emblems for clearing each story (HERO, DARK and LAST)
- 3 emblems for each separate boss attack mode.
- 3 emblems for each Kart Race mode
- 5 emblems for each Chao Race you complete
- 4 emblems for each Chao Karate Tournament.
- 1 emblem for A-Ranking all of the missions in Cannon's Core.
Assuming you've been following the guide from top to bottom, every other trophy basically breaks down how to clear each mode to get their respective emblems. The only thing, however, that needs to be broken down are the Chao Races.
Chao Race Breakdown:
Just like Chao Karate you will need a Chao with high statistics to clear the higher level races. All of your Chaos stats will contribute in some way during the races as there are portions for each property:
- Swim: Swimming Across Bodies of Water
- Fly: Portions where they jump off a cliff and flap the wings on their back to make it to the other side
- Run: When you Chao is running on ground
- Power: When your Chao is climbing up the edge of a cliff
- Stamina: This represents your Chaos energy
During these races you cheer for your Chao with or using up some of their stamina however don't cheer too often as your Chao requires that energy to make it through the rest of the race, watch their stamina and start cheering when they start to slow down. The best time to cheer for your Chao and give it a boost is when it's in a section where its stats excel, for example if they have the most stats in swimming then give them the boost during the swimming portion of the race.
There are 5 different Chao Race Levels all with their own number of maps. Here is the list of all the levels:
- Beginner Race
- Jewel Race
- Challenge Race
- Hero Race
- Dark Race
As the last two titles suggest those races are exclusive to Hero and Dark Chaos however if you have a Neutral Chao they can participate in both so if you are grinding a Chao try to keep the interaction between character even so that you can have a Neutral Adult Chao able to race in both categories without you having to raise a whole another Chao from scratch. Following the tips under Chao Raiser and the few under Karate Master to raising your Chao.
