How to unlock the Knuckles the Echidna achievement in Sonic Adventure - Definitive Guide

After fighting against Knuckels, Eggman takes your emeralds from you both. You and Knuckels will become friends and the achievement is yours. You can also play as Knuckels after this achievement pops up.

After you complete the Ice Cap action stage, you will encounter Knuckles in the Mystic Ruins area, near the waterfall. You will have to fight him. After you defeat him, the trophy will pop during the ensuing cutscene. At this point you can quit the Sonic story and play Knuckles’ story, if you like.
