How to unlock the 100% achievement in SpeedRunners - Definitive Guide

First of all I would advise you to get this achievement last in order to get xp from normal playing and grind just the amount of xp needed.

This being said, and answering to questions on comments and pm, the max xp in this game (at the moment) is 74000 xp points and, as some of you might have noticed, the fastest way to earn it is by using attacks on your opponents.

Regarding that, and after some trial and error tests, I am confident to say that to get the most out of your time you should play local multiplayer with 3 controllers and make them your "targets". Before starting the match go to settings in the selection screen (between normal stages and workshop stages) and mark just fireball and ice ray as objects so you get them more often, as they are the only ones which affect your opponents but don't make them move.

Once you've done that go to Resort and take your three "targets" just left to the item boxes (just before the step the switch makes) and take your character under the line of boxes. Now here begins the grinding. You have 4 boxes to take items from so this basically means infinite ammo, but you should be careful not to use the golden hooks (unfortunately they cannot be deactivated) on your "targets" or you'll move them and lose time. Use the fireball and ice ray to the left on your "targets", and time the button hitting so you always get a strike or a triple freeze, and whenever you get a golden hook turn your character right and "miss" the shot. If you do this properly you should get around 40-50 strikes in 3 min (fireballs seem to be given more often than ice rays) and x50 multiplier is the max for any attack, so at this point restarting the game would be wise. You should be getting 40-50 strikes, 15-25 triple freezing and 1400-1500xp per game.

To sum up:
1 --> Get four controllers (one for you and three more for controlling the "targets)
2 --> Go to local multiplayer, select fireball and ice ray as the only items and choose Resort
3 --> Take the "targets" next to the item boxes and your own character under them
4 --> Use fireballs and ice rays on the "targets" and miss the golden hooks to the right
5 --> After 3 min of grinding finish the game and get your xp

If we do the maths they would look something like
1500xp/4min.
50k/1.5 = 33.3 games.
33.3 x 4min = 133.3 min = 2 hours approximately.

(maths made with the first 50k xp, now it would be 3 hours approximately).

If you don't have access to three controllers you can always try and ask friends online to help you and take turns, in that case the "targets" should press the taunt button (RB) because "taunt surviving" also gives them xp. If none of these work for you the best option would be play Story mode in Easy difficulty and try to use as many objects as possible, always trying not to overuse them (remember, the max is x50 each attack).

PS: I hope this was helpful; this is my first guide here guys and I'm not an English speaker so any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: As Dr Zoidstein and USG AESOP SL pointed out in the comments, you can turn off golden hooks when you reach level 13 to 14 (at around 23,500xp), so this would make the final part of the grind even faster to do.
Edit 2 (Jan/19): Thanks to MoG Alucard212 and Supertrouser for pointing out that the max xp changed to 62000.
Edit 3 (Sep/19): Thanks to Revolutioner and Gintana ZURA informing again that the max xp changed yet again. Now it seems to be 74000.

No idea. I've read in some forums that the Steam edition is up to 100k but I can't confirm that. However the game has just been released so I don't think they will update and add extra level for at least a few months.

At some point you're able to turn golden hooks off, I was level 13 when I noticed it but it might be sooner. It goes so much faster when you don't have to worry about shooting them off to the side.

Steam is indeed 100k, so there is a possibility of it going up. On steam, it took me about 20 hours of efficiently grinding games as a handicap character, but that was without other players boosting items. You guys are lucky you don't have the bronze rank achievement to get ^^

You actually need to have 3 extra controllers and set each of them to a different guest player in order to have control on the characters, otherwise it would be the AI controlling them. As to in which level turning off the boxes becomes available I have no idea, but it shouldn't be further on into the game, so I would recommend to play Story mode and go for this after a few races.

I noticed you can turn off sudden death, would this help get this achievement faster?

By Laab518 on 15 Jun 2017 18:30
Hi Laab518. I know sudden death can be turned off, but it really has no special benefit, if it is on after 2min of game and no one dying the screen starts to get smaller, but there's a limit so it would not trouble you while grinding. Anyway, if you feel more comfortable without the time limit you can turn it of and still grind with no problem.

Just to add to Dr Zoidsteins comment, it's not right at level 13 that you can turn off the golden hooks but the 1/2 way or 3/4 of the way unlock on your way to 14, around 23,500 xp.

Can you clarify - do you need 3 controllers or do you need 4 controllers?

Hi KiloOscarZulu, you need 4 controllers, one for your gamertag (the one getting the achievement) and 3 extra for controlling the 3 extra players or "targets".
PS: Thanks for the info USG AESOP SL

A great guide for those with three controllers. After beating the story on Unfair and playing a fair amount of MP I ended up with ~9,000 EXP, then I grinded Multiplayer until I hit ~33,000. I replayed the first level on Hard for the last 17,000 or so. It took a while, but finally worth it to hit that 100%.

Is there any reason to restart? I don't understand

By thearyadragon on 21 Jul 2017 05:03
Quickdontdie it is compulsory to restart the match if you want to keep earning xp. When you've used an attack 50 times it stops giving you xp so even if you use the fireball 1000 times you'll just get xp for the first 50 strikes, so that's why you should end the race every 3 min or so and start again.

Just wanted to clarify. I had the same issue PopulousYapper9 with the controllers moving on their own. You have to go into the right local multiplayer mode. In multiplayer there is Local Party and Custom Match. If you go into local party it will have AI that your temporarily control. If you stop playing the AI takes back over. You want to make sure you go into Custom Match and put all 4 controllers in that way.

IMPORTANT CHANGE
The XP limit was 50,000XP until yesterday's patch! (07th Jan. '19)
No the limit is higher. I don't know the exact limit now but i think it will be 99,999XP like on PC...
(Maybe achievement still unlocks at 50,000XP but i can't test because i already got it.)

I can confirm that the new XP limit post patch (07th Jan. ‘19) is 62,000xp. Achievement no longer pops at 50,000.

Works perfect. Took about 2 hours. Just want to add that 1500 is not the max. I constantly got 1900+. I was counting for 100 hits or 4 mins whichever reaches first and finished the race and averaged 1.9k per game

By supkris on 05 Jun 2017 12:41
You are right guys, the 1400-1500 was just the average for a "short" game, but obviously if you are persistent and make a better work the process speeds up and you can get up to those 2800. I'm glad I could help you.
PS: I'll check about turning golden hooks off and update the solution Dr Zoidstein, thanks for the info.

With fireball and ice ray on, I was getting about 1400 xp per game (I was counting to 50 fireball strikes before finishing the game). This was taking about 4 mins at a time. The amount of time the ice ray takes to fire was starting to get on my nerves, so I turned the ice ray off, and just used fireballs. Getting 50 fireball strikes and then finishing the game was getting me 1205 xp in about 2.5 mins (for some reason it would only count 44 strikes for every 50 fireballs I threw, so I'd throw an extra 6 and it would count as 50). Just from saving time on not having to wait on ice rays to fire, and knowing that every single item would be something I could throw immediately, I got much more efficient after I was able to turn off golden hooks.

There is a way to improve the strategy:

Put 2 controllers to your left and 1 further left. Turn off gold hooks (you can now) and have on only fire balls. Doing this you get Strike x50 and Double hit x50 in less than 2 mins. It is only 1200 XP but will be 2400 XP in the same time as you suggest. Just wanted to share.

Video if you want to see, feel free to add since ur solution (and an auto walking controller) is how I figured this out:

Great solution tyvm. Thumbs up

Just thought I'd share my method of gaining XP with two controllers. Thank you, Cammy The Duck, but your method didn't really work for me. I'm just lazy, so that method requires too much effort on my part. The method I am about to show, however, is for the people that are like me: The Lazy.

Video Guide available (no commentary)

Getting inspiration from Cammy The Duck, my method takes advantage of the game options and the map, Nightclub. My method also happens in the same areas shown in his video(I even take advantage of the two boosters at the beginning), but once again, this way will require minimal effort.

Remember: Play in a Custom Match to gain XP

What you need: Two controllers, the map Nightclub unlocked, Super SpeedRunners Unlocked, and the ability to disable everything except for Golden Hooks.

What you need to do

-Like Tammy The Duck's method, head towards the two boosters that are side-by-side and position one character in the centre. Now, take the other character and sprint through the two boosters making sure that you achieve the "Super Speed!" bonus at least 50 times.
Extra: If you time a quick slide while on top of the character in the centre, you can gain the "Tackle!" bonus without losing too much of your momentum for "Super Speed!". Doing 50 tackles will add 200 more points onto your final XP amount.

-Once "Super Speed!" has been achieved 50 times, move toward the first two power-ups that are under the platform surrounded by red crates.

-You will want to position each character very close together in the centre of the two power-ups and make sure that they can still obtain the power-ups. See 1:10 in video for reference.

-Once the characters are lined up properly and facing each other(with golden hooks), press cn_B on one controller and then immediately afterwards press cn_B on the second controller. Doing so will give you the "Gotcha!" bonus and the "Revenge!" bonus. Complete this step 50 times to receive 50 of each bonus.

-After you have finished hooking your characters 50 times, proceed to win the three rounds with a single character. Once you have completed the match, you will receive your experience.

If you get 50x "Super Speed!", 50x "Gotcha!", 50x "Revenge!" and win three rounds with a single character; at the end of the match, your Experience should be +1255xp each time. This took roughly 8 minutes during recording, but it can certainly be done in less than 7 minutes I'm guessing.

This, of course will take quite a long time to complete because you are not using 4 controllers, so I'd recommend watching some videos while doing this grinding. It really does not require you to pay much attention to what is happening so you don't really need to be focused.

*If you give me negative feedback, please state why(or PM me) so that I can improve on my future solutionstoast.

First of all I would like to credit DJ Javicii for his excellent solution.

I used his technique but had to tweak it slightly as I do not own 4 Xbox One controllers.

As I only have 3 Xbox One controllers I fished out an old wired Xbox 360 controller.

I then used the Xbox App on my Windows 10 Laptop to boot up the streaming option to my Xbox One - allowing me to hook up my 360 controller as a 4th controller and hey presto! I could use DJ Javicii's solution despite not owning 4 Xbox One controllers!

Worth digging out an old 360 controller to save yourself a few hours if you have a Windows 10 device linked to the same network as your Xbox smile

This is a guide for people who want to get this achievement relatively quickly but don't have 4 controllers to do so.

Firstly, before we start, this will take roughly twice as long as if you were to have 4 controllers, I calculated roughly 4 hours 10 minutes myself using an average score of 800 points per game.

If you'd rather watch a video on how to get it than read my guide then I will have a video at the bottom of this solution showing you more easily how to get this achievement.

Firstly, you want to have played the game enough to have unlocked the option to select the Super SpeedRunners mode, this should've come naturally already when trying to get the "The King of New Rush City" Achievement for completing the game on Unfair difficulty. If not then you'll just have to keep playing until then but it unlocks fairly early.

Step 1 - What you want to do from this point is start up a custom game and add one other controller as player 2. When selecting a character ensure you don't pick a golden character for either player as that will make the progress slower.

Step 2 - After picking the characters when taken to the next screen, press X for the game options, from here select Super SpeedRunners and also ensure that no items can be used aside from the golden hook

Step 3 - After that, when back on the map selection, pick the map "Nightclub"

Step 4 - Once you load in you will see 2 speed boosts relatively close to each other. What you want to do is sit player 2 in the middle whilst player one holds rt and runs back and forwards into the speed boost. As you are on Super SpeedRunners mode, you will get a "Super Speed" bonus for going on one of these.

Step 5 - After doing that 50 times, advance a little further forward with both controllers until you find 2 item boxes and 3 crates either side that you can slide under. Stay in between there and, with player 1, obtain 50 "Gotcha" medals on a now afk second controller

Step 6 - This is the penultimate step to the strategy. With both controllers, run until you see the next item boxes and have player 2 stand in between both boxes so that he can get a golden hook as soon as the boxes spawn in. With player 2 fire the hook at player 1 and as player 1 just try to dodge the hook. Once again after 50 trys and 50 "Dodged" medals you will have finished that step

Step 7 - Finally, win the game with player 1 and get all your xp, repeat steps 3-6 over and over until you eventually reach max XP.

Here it is in video form if my written guide was a bit complicated:

Hopefully my guide helped everyone who doesn't have 4 controllers and who were struggling with this achievement

You'll get this achievement at 99,999 xp, which will take quite a long time. With the most efficient grinding methods, you'll still only be able to rack up about 6000xp per hour.

What I did was play as a golden character as soon as you unlock one, as you get bonus exp for playing and winning a game with a handicapped golden character. Winning a game flawlessly as a golden character will give you from 120-132xp or so on average, and on fast maps you can win about every minute or so.

You can do this in custom multiplayer games against easy bots (who could be handicapped as well), but that could get boring pretty quickly, but any difficulty/handicap gives the same xp so do what is the least painful :P

As of November 8th, 2020,
Max Level: 26
Max XP: 87,000

Definitely one of the more tedious achievements, normal play in online matches and offline bots will net you a very low amount of XP in comparison to the max that you need, so if grinding isn't your cup of tea, we're going to farm it.

This strategy originated from Dr Javicii (https://www.trueachievements.com/gamer/Dr+Javicii) over on TrueAchievements where he made a guide for this exact achievement on XBOX (https://www.trueachievements.com/a235080/100-achievement). His guide is very in depth and I highly recommend reading it, as this method is practically identical. For this guide I've altered a few steps to make it more PC orientated.

First off, you're going to want to go into your settings and configure the controls for every player (1-4). Player 1 is going to be the main character you're performing the grind on, so make sure his controls make sense to you. For the other 3 players, you want to bind the left and right controls to keys that are close to each other and that can all be used at once (not necessary to use all keys at once, but it speeds up the setup). For me, I bound each player to pairs of number keys (P2: 1 + 2, P3: 3 + 4, P4: 5 + 6).

Once your controls are saved, go to Online and create a custom game. Click add local on Player 1 and choose your character (stray away from gold characters even though they get an XP boost for this method as they have a handicapped powerup that will push your character back), then add local for all other player slots. Go into the Game options and uncheck everything except for Fireballs and Freezerays. Choose Resort and walk all 4 players to the right. Stop the 3 other local players under the switch that is above where you spawn, and bring your player over to the 4 stacked powerups.

With everyone in place, start a timer (optional) and start jumping and spamming use looking at the other players. You should be constantly throwing fireballs and firing freezerays, hitting the local players and stacking medals (i.e. Strike!, Triple Freeze!). You can only obtain 50 of each unique medal per match, so you want to trial and error how long it takes to reach the max medals. For me, it was about 1.5 minutes for each spam session, so the 1-2 minute range would be good to test around. Once you've spammed for a minute or two, walk the 3 other local players to the left and kill them 3 times to win the game on your player. I found most of my matches I was receiving 1000-1500xp, with the biggest reason for low xp is missed Freezerays from how the timed with the jumps.

This method is the most efficient I've found and used myself personally, which got me from level 23 to level 26 very quickly (I was unaware that max level was 26 as I was seeing in a lot of places much higher levels).

Side note:
Regarding controllers, I find it easier to farm on keyboard over controller due to being able to easily control all 4 of the players at once, as controller keybindings only bind for one player, decreasing efficiency.

I fully encourage getting the achievement just from playing but with a low player count and an even lower XP output per match, it'll be a lot of work. From playing legit for ~80 hours I was only level 23. Best of luck <3
