How to unlock the Consumate Completist achievement in Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Definitive Guide

The videos listed below are by Bob W Hall / Frank N Stein. I did not make the videos.

This YouTube playlist shows Gold completion on all 68 Challenges. While the videos are PS3, the Challenges are identical to the 360.

It took me awhile to find them since the title is "Spiderman-EoT" instead of "Spider-Man: Edge of Time." I thought others might have trouble finding them also. I hope they help you as much as they helped me.

This achievement really wasn't that bad to obtain. All you need is persistence and patience.

It also helps if you complete the game once through unlocking as many combat (if not all) moves and character upgrades you can - ESPECIALLY the stamina upgrades for both Spidey's. This will make the combat trials much easier (I found combo ratings were easy as can be spamming hyper sense and accelerated decoy). Also, once the game is completed all the challenges are unlocked, and you can select the challenges from the title menu.

REMEMBER: Some of these challenges will be frustrating depending on which areas of the game you have a hard time with. The free fall challenges had me cursing up a storm, but after a few runs through I got a feel for where the obstacles were that I needed to avoid. The point is not to break your disc if you tried 10 times and still didn't get the gold. It's all about what I said above: persistence and patience.

EDIT: BraveZach has reported that at least one of the challenges may glitch and not unlock after completing the specified area. If this happens, replaying the chapter seems to fix the problem.

Does difficulty affect the challenges? Can you switch it to easy to play through the challenges and still get credit for it?

I have no idea about that - I did mine on easy so i can not say with any degree of certainty whether the difficulty affects the challenges.

It's my understanding that the Challenges are set to Normal. If you playthrough the story on Normal, you can earn many of these Challenges "accidentally." That is, if you happen to meet the requirements of the Challenge while on Normal, you'll get the medal.

If you go back to play a Challenge through the Web of Challenges, you'll be playing at Normal difficulty, even if you are currently doing an Easy or Hard playthrough.

@ BraveZach: I am not sure (haven't played the game in a year). When I ran through the game everything unlocked - I would say it is a glitch, but that is just a guess.

If you played through on normal, then you need to do a hard play through anyway. And hard was not bad at all, so it may be in your best interest to run through the game again (on hard) and see if it unlocks.

Apologies that I could not be of any more assistance.

I don't think I'll 1000. These free-falls are so lame. I hit everything. >>; Thanks for the tips I thought I was the only one having a hard time with challenges everything else isn't bad but this stuff is garbage.

I would advise going for this trophy after your first playthrough of the game. At that point every challenge is unlocked, and you can easily access the challenges from the title screen.

The challenges are broken up into 3 groups based on campaign chapter. Each chapter has 4 sections, with anywhere between 3 to 5 challenges per section.

There are 3 types of challenges that you will be asked to complete:

COMBAT CHALLENGES

By far the easiest (IMO). Having completely upgraded characters will be extremely beneficial here. You will be asked to either build combos, take less than so many hits, or defeat X amount of enemies in under so many seconds/minutes.

The R1 button is your friend here, ESPECIALLY with Spidey 2099. You can build crazy combos when you have that move maxed (pulls 3 enemies to you). It will also interrupt those shield guys. Amazing Spidey does a web-strike with R1 which, although doesn't hit 3 enemies at once, will still interrupt shield charging baddies AND help with your combos.

Also, the hyper sense/accerated decoy moves are the best here IF PROPERLY UTILIZED. Hyper sense, if activated right before a strike, will actually fill up the special meter as opposed to reducing it (i.e. keep hyper sense going OR give you options with the L1 special moves). Same with accerated decoy. Keep that in mind INSTEAD OF just spamming the ability immediately before battle.

ORB COLLECTION CHALLENGES

These will cause some headaches, but they are not that bad if patience and persistence are utilized. I advise on these challenges to simply get the rhythm of the area you are in on your first few attempts, and then go for the gold. Mastering the web zip is crucial here, and on levels with Spidey 2099 if you are on the ground activating your decoy will have you shoot forward about 5 feet incredibly fast (something to keep in mind wink).

FREE FALL CHALLENGES

These were the worst for me...redface

Free Fall challenges will only be done with Spidey 2099, but they can be tedious, ESPECIALLY if they are timed. roll

Like the orb collection challenges, I advise doing a run or two of the course you are expected to free fall in to really understand the layout, and the obstacles that will jump in your face, prior to going for the gold.

Once again, it is all about patience and persistence.

You can find the Web of Challenges listed in the game's main menu screen. Difficulty won't have any effect on your challenges if you select it from the main menu screen. Difficulty only had an effect on the challenges during the story mode only, so changing the difficulty on easy or anything else won't help you here. There are a total of 68 challenges for you to complete.

You can keep track of the numerous challenges the Spider-Mans can complete to unlock rewards such as Alternative Suits keys and Concept Art. They also earn you Portal Energy and Golden Spiders. Playing through the story mode on Normal mode should have unlocked all the challenges for you in the Web of Challenges. There are essentially two types of challenges:

  • Combat challenges test each Spider-Man’s abilities to efficiently defeat his enemies.
  • Obstacle challenges test each Spider-Man’s ability to be agile in navigating through spaces.

It's all self-explanatory and the game even gives you the proper tips to complete the challenges. Completing the Web of Challenges with all gold medals is necessary for unlocking all the Character upgrades, Alternate Suits, and the last remaining Golden Spiders.

Below is a listing of all the Web of Challenges and their requirements to get the Gold Medal:

If during the game you were not able to complete all the challenges, then you don’t have to be afraid that you will have to go through the game again. Instead, go to the challenges menu and select the challenge you need

I advise you to try to knock out gold as you progress. Then we went through 3-4 chapters, went out and went into the challenge and knocked out what was left where. The plus is that you will get golden spiders for leveling up the Persians and when you beat the game you won’t have to spend a long time killing a bunch of challenges.
