The normal play through is going to be your longest play through.
Easy is pointless unless if you just need practice or need to beef up your Spider-Men with abilities before your normal play through (you really shouldn't). You can't play hard until you beat it on normal, so your talking a minimum of 2 playthroughs anyways.
The kicker is, Hard has NO collectables or challenges. No portal energy, no golden spiders, nothing. So, you'll have to get all the portal energy, golden spider, web of challenges, and all the golden spider character update achievements in normal.
Parts that you could (and will in hard) normally breeze through you will find yourself doing again and again in Normal to beat those (often aggravating) Web of Challanges, and you may have to repeat some levels if you missed a golden spider.
Now, I'm only about a third of the way through my Hard playthrough, so I'm going to abstain from calling it easy, but I can pretty much garuntee that time wise, it'll come nowhere near the normal playthrough. Be patient, keep at it, and you'll get through it.

I am currently half-way through my hard playthrough, and you are right about it going quickly. Did the first 3rd (up tp the first Anti_venom fight) in ~30 minutes. Much easier when you can skip nearly everyone.

Your right about the VERY limited portal energy, but I found I needed it more for health than for collectables… granted, I was done with collectables at that point…

Simply beat the game on Normal difficulty to unlock this trophy. Normal difficulty is needed in order to unlock Hard difficulty. Refer to Master Of All You Survey for more information.
