How to unlock the Top of the World achievement in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II - Definitive Guide

*******The Real Solution********
I recommend just getting to the top on your first play through and not worrying about the achievement until later or you might get pretty frustrated. Level select Kamino : The Return. The Easy difficulty is your friend for this achievement. You have to go through a long stage to finally get to the jumping section, and then the jumping section is just as long. It is very important that you take your time and know where you are jumping before you commit (hence the phrase : Look before you leap). If you fall, you may be lucky enough to land on something below you to save you from death. You can not rely on this though, so it is better not to fall at all. You will know when you are at the top when the achievement pops while riding an elevator.
*On my achievement run though, I did fall and get lucky enough to land on a lower platform. I had to make my way back up, but it beats restarting the level. I can confirm that this works.
*If you fall and you see that you are not going to land on anything, I recommend hitting start as soon as possible and restarting the check point (costume change) so you don't have to dashboard. This has also been confirmed to work.
*Dying by any other means than falling is acceptable. The important thing to remember is don't die by falling.

I can confirm that if you fall, but press start before you die and restart at the last checkpoint (costume change), that you still get the achievement. Just got it.

Please also note that I was killed a few times by the enemies on my way to the top on Unleashed difficulty, however I still got the achievement. So if you do get killed, don't restart because if you haven't fallen you will still be ok!

Might be worth reading the solution carefully.

Just want to add, you must not fall in the second jumping section. There is the first jumping platform section, then you smash some skulls for like a minute in some corridors and then open wide area with platforms again. I died by fall in the first section and still got the achievement...

I think it gives you like 2 seconds to hit start before it counts as a fall

I fell over a dozen times on a jump on the second section but would hit pause then reload checkpoint once I saw I wouldn't make it. Didn't have issues with it popping. Didn't die at all in the mission or leadup.

TA doesn't scan every five minutes - been every few days since the server drive failures. Odds are good that JJ has earned the cheeve but not been scanned since before earning it.

This is only adding to what JJ Bombay said.

If you do fall, this, like many other "do this without..." achievements in this game can be reset from the last check by changing costumes.

EDIT:
You have to change costumes while you are falling however. Just found this out on a re-try.

In the penultimate level, “Kamino: the Return,” later in that level will end up in a large space with floating platforms. This is where this trophy begins. First off, take off the horde of enemies that will come of the emerging tubes to raise the platform and begin the attempt for the trophy. If you fall, quit then choose "Continue."

However, before you go after the trophy, here are some tips:

  • As soon as you destroy the first wave of enemies and raise the platforms, this is where you have to be most careful. Take your time, and try not to fall, at least until you reach a checkpoint (the Saving icon will appear in the corner). If you fall before the checkpoint, you'll have to exit and then Continue, then do the fight with the troopers all over again.

  • Take your time, there is no time limit so tread carefully.

  • There are more checkpoints ahead, you will know then the Saving icon appears, so that should cut down the time you need to reattempt if you fall.

  • Hold the button to guide you through the intricate maze.

  • There are two main areas to this trophy, separated by a gate and small room. In the first area, JUST double jump to land on the floating droids (don't double jump + dash). The double jump + dash is useful otherwise, especially if there is an open landing area or a wall that will stop you from overshooting the target.

  • The metal corridors that you move with have a gap at the end of them. So if you move them, go in and run to the opposite platform, you will fall! Just before you reach the end of the corridor, jump and dash.

  • Once you reach the first gate, destroy the enemies and proceed, the second area is far more confusing, so again, use the button to guide you.

  • However, most of the floating droids this time are a bit far from the jumping point, so you have to CAREFULLY double jump + dash this time.

  • On the circle platforms, you there will be Terror Troopers lurking (the invisible ones). Anticipate them, be careful not to have them hit you off the platform and fall. Also be just as careful when you kill them, doing a complicated combo might push you to fall yourself.

  • The trophy will unlock once you get on the elevator and leave the level (i.e. when the cutscene of the following level begins.

Done in the mission Kamino: The Return

The main thing to remember is 3 things

1. Any death other than death from a fall does not affect the achievement

2.If you start to fall, do not rush to throw the gamepad at the screen, there is a high probability of landing on something hard

3. If you still fall into the abyss, then “change your suit”

There is a little trick : as soon as you start to fall, quickly click on “Start” and go to the “Change Costume” menu and change your character’s costume to any other.

This automatically reloads the game to the previous checkpoint, without registering your fall.
