How to unlock the Use the Force, Luke achievement in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II - Definitive Guide

For those having trouble with this achievement...I tried playing the first level over and over with only using force powers and following all the guides and still no success.

So I tried Cato Neimoidia "The Tarko-se Areana on EASY with maxed force powers (but maximum force powers is probably unnecessary) aka the Gorog fight mission.

The Gorog fight counts as an entire level. Use your force lightning on him and his restraints, just don't use your sabers. Chain him up twice like normal and you are ALLOWED to hit "the x button" during the action sequences (Both of them the one where you pull down the Gorog's head and the one where you stab it in the metal plate). Next, saber throw fully powered does NOT count as using your sabers. When you are trying to make the Gorog knock down the supports use force lightning and fully charge saber throws. Before using saber throws make sure you have force pushed all the random storm troopers out of the way so there are no "accidents" when your saber throw seeks a target. When the Gorog is gripping the supports use force lightning to get him to release. Finally the fall sequence. Again for some reason here saber throw does NOT count as using your sabers. I used a mix of force lightning and saber throws here. Do the rapidly pressing A action sequence and the achievement will pop shortly into the cut-scene.

Hope this helps anyone else that is frustrated by playing the first board over and over and the achievement not popping. Gooduck!

Update: Do not use your sabers to block. This solution seems to not work for everyone and the achievement is glitchy. If you have been having trouble with other solutions not working like i did then I really recommend trying this.

Yes i have also had no luck with the first level. I'm wondering if the automatic bolt deflection is causing the problem?? Anyway I will give this a go tonight so hopefully it will work. Cheers

When should I NOT use "X"? during which action sequence? When you destroy the metal thing on his head? or should I push x during that sequence?

By LordxDragonfire on 05 Nov 2010 16:55
You can push X during any action sequence... both the first one where you are pulling his head down and the one where you stab him in the head. The action sequence use of the x button for some reason during this fight does not seem to negate the achievement. Let me know how things are turning out. thanks

Achievement solution worked perfectly. I just used Force Push (Rank 3) the entire fight and when it was the falling sequence, I switched to Lightning. This method still took down his health quickly and I had the achievement in 10 minutes, start to finish.

I tried this twice today and no achievement pop. Lightning was the only thing I used from start to finish. However, this solution may work for some, but the achievement itself seems like a roll of the dice.

Got it first try on the Gorog. Should have read this before playing it the first time! I remember hitting his hands with the lightsaber on the second phase...if I would have not done that, I would have got it naturally. Oh well. Done now.

Got it on second try! If you use LT even once you can screw things up. So only use b and y. No mind trick, throw or anything. Just y and b and you should be good! Anyway thanks for the guide!

First level on easy difficulty. When you face the big metal buggers don't be a puppet and do what they tell you - SHOCK the s*** out of them and don't press the X button - do it right like Thunder Rolling and give them the BOOMSHOCKALAKKKA

I got this on the 3rd stage, before the Gorog fight. Lightning, Force Grip/Push, and nothing but. The only time I ever used the sabers were during QTE's, and when I was required to use Saber Throw. (even then, I used it fully charged, as mentioned in the original solution just to be safe). Sure enough, after riding the elevator at the end, during the cutscene for the Gorog fight, it popped. Hope it helps :)

I did this on Kamino - The Return. It is not nearly as complicated as a lot of the talk on here makes it out to be. I really think as long as you don’t swing your lightsaber with X you are fine. I used multiple QTEs on the larger enemies and even deflected a couple Sith Acolyte force pulses back at them by mistake and the achievement still popped. The only power I never used was saber throw just to be safe.

Confirming that the Gorog level is the level to do this on. I have fully upgraded Force powers, went back and played it on Easy, and used Force Lightning the whole time. Dashing away from the hands when needbe. And I can confirm that the X button in the animated prompted sequence doesn't negate the achievement. On Easy with fully upgraded Force powers this level took no time at all. Good thing, too, because I got hit with one piece of debris on the fall, so I have to go back and do it again to get that achievement... ;)

Literally used nothing but lightning and force push and didn't get the cheevo. Really annoying me because I've tried this and the first level twice each, and I still can't get it to pop. I've even let the post-level cutscenes play all the way through, just in case. Still nothing.

Gonna try again, sometime...

Ok. I've been trying this achievements on both recommendatory levels (Kamino and Arena), and I failed to get it either way.
I wasn't using anything but lightening and force push, and I was doing only single dash when needed.
I was so tired of this so I started a new game on the new save slot and got it on my first try!!

With this I can now confirm one thing for sure:
-QTE DOES NOT cancel the achievement. I did it on the first droid and still got the achievement.
- mind trick does not mess with it too.

So do this:
start new game within the new save slot - use only Y and B, and dash when prompted.
Use QTE on both droids if you may. You will have to use it on the first one, because you won't be able to kill it, but with the second one - just through several containers into him and he'll be done.
If you will use only those skills, you will get this achievement.

Good Luck!

Best done on the first stage on Easy. When fighting the Carbonite War Droid, use Force Lightning and stay far away for it to launch carbonite and grip it to throw it back at the Droid. To kill it without doing the action, use Repulse when A is present abouve its head. Also throw some at Stormtroppers to get another achievement called Shattered. Zap the troopers to kill them. Other than that, this is easy.

Like "metalanda7x" said, this achievement done easiest in the first level and "Easy" difficulty only makes its easier. Environmental kills such as force pushing stormtroopers into a fan, throwing boxes at stormtroopers and killing them with it, deflecting laser bolts, throwing enemies into force fields, using the Kamino generators to play pinball with the stormtroopers, and many other ways do not negate this achievement. The only thing that negates this achievement is using your actual saber to kill enemies, this includes cut-scene saber kills such as the "Carbonite Droid" with the shield, do NOT kill him using the button sequences, just use your force powers. This achievement was confusing for me as I tried for it several times before it unlocked. Just be sure to use only your Force Powers and you''ll snag it a few seconds after the end of level cut-scene begins. Thanks everyone and enjoy this phenomenal game!!

Okay then, here we go! I had found myself searching all over the Internet for solutions to this achievement. In my opinion it appears to be broken. However, this does not mean it's unobtainable. I have come to the conclusion that certain methods work for certain people. It appears to be completely random. I will now share my method. Please bear in mind, this is the method that worked for me! .....................................................................
First off, return to the main menu. Then you will need to create a new save file. Creating a new save file was the only way I could unlock this achievement. Start the game on easy difficulty. You must avoid pushing the X button at all times. When you get to the big guys holding the shields you CAN use the force to remove the shields. Tapping A in this sequence will not matter! Well it certainly didn't for me. Moving on, when you detach their shields you then have to spam Y (Electric) It will take a few minutes, but please be patient as it will eventually kill them. Kill all other storm troopers with what ever power you want. JUST AVOID USING MELEE. Do this throughout the whole level and kill the big guys my way. With a bit of luck you will unlock the achievement. I can't prove that this will work for everybody, but it sure is another solution worth trying. NOTE: It was the method I used. Feel free to comment if needed. Please let me know if this works or not. Good luck.

If you are having trouble with this - Start a New Game, play Level 1 on Easy. Use only Force Push and Lightning as offense. Use Grip and Dash when prompted. Also, for the Robots you can press A and do the quick action events to kill it because it is impossible to kill it with level 1 skills in lightning and push*. I didn't block, nor swing light saber during normal combat. Just got the achievement doing it this way.

* I killed the first Robot on the training grounds using quick action event, however for the second robot, I weakened it til it prompted for me to press A, then I gripped crates and boxes, hit them with lightning, and then threw them at it for the kill.

This is the guide which will nabb you the Use the force Luke achievement......

Level/Mission 1, Easy......go.

First fight sequence use force moves too.

Go through the whole level only using FORCE powers (B,Y,RT,LT+Y etc), Dash can be used through the whole level. Make your way to the end.

REALLY IMPORTANT INFO BELOW!!!!!!

When fighting against the huge machines with the shields, just disarm them then throw everything you go at them (litterally or just kick their arse, not using the Sabers) when your prompt to press A.....DON'T DON'T DON'T....Just keep hitting them with Force moves or GO UNLEASHED with Left and Right them sticks (press them together) once your bar at bottom left is completely purple and kick their arse that way.

WHY NOT USING THE PROMPT BUTTONS?!?!
It says press X after pressing A. Doing the assassination sequence will not allow the achievement to pop.

This will defiantly get you that achievement on your first attempt.

Completed on lvl 1. My hypothesis is: when you use LT, if a bolt is deflected back at an enemy, that is counted as a saber use and the achievement won't unlock. I tried for this achievement about 5 times on lvl 1 and it finally unlocked for me only after making sure that I used the left trigger as little as possible. The three storm troopers that emerge with the mech-like machines need to be killed first to avoid an accidental death by a deflection when/if you perform force repulse near the mech, and with something other than lightsabers, then you can do the quick time event of force-gripping the shield away from him. But DO NOT do the last quicktime event when his health is low.

I think my problem was when I went to do a special power like force repulse, I would hit the LT and a blaster bolt would accidentally get deflected back and either hit or kill a stormtrooper. So to sum up; don't use the X button, use LT as little as possible because you could accidentally kill something with a blaster bolt, and you CAN use the quicktime events of taking the mech-like machine's shields away but DO NOT do the last quicktime with them when their health is low, kill the machines with normal force powers after the shields are ripped away.

I used force push with maxed powers as much as possible, but mind trick and lightning will also work. I just didn't want to accidentally hit the x button!

So there are alot of rumors floating around out there about what you can and cant do for this achievement. I got this on my first try while playing "Kamino - The Return" I used saber throw, i parried and when fighting the red force guys, I used the Y+B grapple and just force pushed them out of the air to kill them. I also did the QTE for fighting the shield guys. I dont know if this is glitched for people, but from my experience, as long as you dont just push X when fighting, you should be able to get this.

I would suggest you play the first level via Level Select once you’ve completed the game and levelled up your Force Skills. Rely on Force Push, Force Grip and Force Lightning (also use Force Repulse at least once - thanks to jamby for the info) to kill the enemies. At the end of the level you should unlock this trophy. At any rate, avoid using the button at all costs!

Though there are three things you need to know:

  • Ignore the command prompts and instructions at the bottom of the screen that require your use of the Saber blade - you do NOT have to do follow them to continue.

  • The use of the Saber by this point becomes a force of habit, as such, you might even use it without realizing it! So be careful as to not to use it.

  • During the same level, AVOID any QTE with the large Droids as you might be prompted to use the Saber.

Note: Many people have suggested the fourth level, "Cato Neimoidia: the Tarko-se Arena," (i.e. the level where you fight Gorog) as an alternative place to get that trophy. You can use the button during QTE's only. Thanks to everyone who suggested this.

Just a little addition to the already existing solutions. After the first level and the arena fight did not work for me in any suggested variation (no QTE, no dashing, etc) I realized that I used a saber crystal that enhanced my force abitlities (yellow for the lightning). After I removed them and used the standard two (red without any bonus) it worked on the first try on the arena level (with dashing in the falling sequence). It would also explain why for others starting a new save file worked. Because you obviously start with the red saber crystals only. I don't know if this actually influences this achievement but I thought I share my experience nonetheless. Hope this helps somebody with this annoying chievo.

EDIT: I started the level with my yellow crystals equipped and changed them in the opening sequence where you talk with Kota that you cannot abort.

This achievement can be obtained on time level 4, refuse the button optional, but the main thing is not to use swords in quick-time events. Video guide .

As far as I understand the glitch achievement, to get it you need to completely refrain from pressing , the easiest way to do it is this way: Create a new save, start a new game and go through the first mission, respectively, without clicking on Easy , difficulty will arise only in one place, with the Carbonite battle droid, but here you only need patience and hit it with lightning ( ), until it falls apart, the second one is easier, grab the boxes ( ) hit them with lightning and throw them at the droid.

  • Don't press the button .
  • You can't take away shields from droids.
  • Any activation of a QTE resets the achievement.

It is best to complete the achievement in the first level.
  • When meeting the first droid, activate "Force Rage / :LS: + :RS:" and destroy it with a pulse ( + ), after the robot explodes, immediately turn off the rage mode and accumulate it until the next droid.
