How to unlock the Soldier of Fortune achievement in Starfield - Definitive Guide
you dont need to mod 50 weapons, you can change a mod 50 times on 1 gun if you have the resources. I did this down staris in the lodge (the place you take the 1st artifact).

Thanks! Just did this on a bs save where I spent all my money on resources and went to town.
Worked perfectly.
Also worth noting that despite skins being called mods in the dialogue boxes, they do not count if they don't consume resources.

The easiest way to do this and get it out of the way is to go to the Mercantile on Jemison: New Atlantis. Make a manual save before starting so you can reload when you're done. Buy out all the resources the Mercantile sells, and wait for 24 hours on a park bench for them to refresh their inventory. Buy them out 2 or 3 times.
Now, use the transit system to travel to MAST district, and head to the Lodge. Go down into the basement, and to the weapons workbench. Here you can just buy the same mods 50 times back and forth, and should have more than enough resources to do so.
Once the achievement unlocks, reload your manual save.

This achievement sounds daunting but is not actually daunting at all. There are spoilers, but they're only applicable if you haven't yet completed the very first main mission "One Small Step."
You do not need 50 unique weapon mods. You can create the same modification 50 times (which is what I did.)
An easy opportunity to do this is right after arriving at
and there you will have access to a weapons bench.
Simply go to the workbench there, find what available mods you have for your weapons. Identify the least expensive in terms of resources required. Identify how many you need. Save.
After that, return to the workbench. Create the weapon mod then select no mod in the weapons modification menu. Then create the mod again. Then select no mod again. Repeat until the achievement pops. Return to your earlier save if you don't want to waste your money and resources.

Got this one so fast in like 10 minutes.
Best scenario:
- Good amount of creds at least 5K or above
- Specific "power":
Spam buy Jemison Mercantile's resources on New Atlantis.
Specifically Iron, Nickel, Aluminum, Copper.
You will be encumbered but use NAT, go to MAST District and walk to Lodge. This is why the power is so important, pop it and you're good to go still sprinting. Go downstairs to the workbenches in Lodge. Now muzzle/compensator OR sights for pistol is the best spam craft. Keep spamming a new sight, then no sight, new sight, no sight whichever mod have cheapest resources.
Once you use up resources, leave Lodge and sit down on bench right outside. Wait 24 hours.
Travel to Jemison's again where shop refresh and buy down the metal resources again.
Repeat as many times as you need, most likely only 2-3 times for 10 minutes or less!

In Starfield, you can create mods and add them to any weapon you like, so long as you have access to a Weapon Workbench - which you can build at your Outpost, or find downstairs in the Lodge on New Atlantis.
The tricky part with creating mods for weapons, however, is that they require some really rare materials to create. Most of the best mods in Starfield require Adhesive, which enemies like the Beetlecrab on Beta Marae I drop - we’re currently knocking up a guide on how to farm Adhesive, so keep an eye out for that.
If you have no interest in mods though, or making your weapons better, and just want the achievement, then the best solution is to choose a mod below and then create it for your weapon.
For instance, to create the Long Barrel attachment (as most guns won’t have this as standard), this only needs 1 Iron (which you should have plenty of if you created an Iron mining operation in Starfield), 1 Nickel and 1 Sealant (if you’re looking for Sealant, follow our Starfield - How to get Sealant guide) - all of which are easier to find than Adhesive.
Also, try crafting Iron Sights for weapons - although you’d need them not to have that as standard. Check out the local Trade Authority, and other traders, if you don't have the aforementioned materials and need to get them easily.
In terms of other mods that are easy to make (the below do depend on the gun and type of gun you're trying to mod, of course), try:

In terms of other mods that are easy to make (the below do depend on the gun and type of gun you're trying to mod, of course), try:
- Iron Sights - 1 x Nickel / 1 x Aluminum
- Short Barrel - 1 x Nickel / 1 x Iron
- Standard Barrel - 1 x Iron / 1 x Sealant
- Tech Barrel - 2 x Nickel / 2 x Iron / 1 x Sealant (needs Barrel Mods 2 research)
- Large Magazine - 2 x Lead / 2 x Tungsten / 2 x Sealant
- Small Magazine - 1 x Lead / 1 x Tungsten / 1 x Sealant
- Standard Magazine - 1 x Lead / 1 x Tungsten
- Tactical Magazine - 1 x Lead / 1 x Sealant
- Compensator - 1 x Nickel / 1 x Aluminum
- Firstly, save your game, so you're not wasting materials.
- Then, we took a Grendel and went to the Weapon Workbench.
- When there, we scrolled down to Muzzles.
- From there we installed a Compensator for 1 Nickel and 1 Aluminum.
- And finally, after that, we crafted “No Mod” for 1 Nickel and 1 Iron.
- Then you just need to rinse and repeat the last two steps.
Once you've crafted 50 mods, this achievement is yours.
