How to unlock the Thirst for Knowledge achievement in Starfield - Definitive Guide
I put together a video guide of 20 easy to find skill magazines. All 20 are about a 30 second walk from a fast travel point. There are a few that are right next to each other as well. This should help people clean up the rest you need.
You can check how many skill magazines you've read by hitting then go down to general and see stats.
Edit: Some people have pointed out that the one location I show for magazine 17 in the video does not show up for everyone, every playthrough. If the abandoned weapon station isn't on the planets map when you get there you will not be able to get that one unfortunately.

Was checking this out to see if I missed anything out there, and my Carinae V-b doesn’t have a fast port like yours does, I’ve spent half a day exploring that planet just to never find the abandoned weapon station.

Skill Magazines are basically collectibles scattered around the galaxy, and picking them up grants stat buffs and perks. Here are 25 easy to grab skill magazines found on some of the most common areas of the game.
If you're unable to travel to their locations, you may need to make a little more progress in the main story, or in a faction questline.

If you're like me and already finished the Crimson Fleet quest thread, the UC Vigilance will permanently relocate to the Key in the Kryx system.

I totally went after the last two before joining the Crimson Fleet. Yeah... Don't do that...

Hello to my fellow PC players of Starfield. As with most of the achievements with this game I have noticed a lack of solutions for PC GamePass or those who purchased the game on the Microsoft Store for Windows. As I have said in another solution, yes Xbox players Starfield achievements are one in the same whether you're on console or PC similar to Halo MCC.
First and foremost if you're trying to get this achievement legit do refer to the other three solutions that are present at the time of me posting this solution. Their videos are perfect for legit playthroughs.
The only thing I will add to those solutions is that if you have obtained 20+ magazines but still have not popped the achievement, you might have accidently pressed the tilde (~) key. See the "PC Issue and Solution" below that I copy and pasted from another solution of mine.

Bethesda decided that opening up the command console, via pressing the tilde (~) key, disables achievements. So try not to press that key by accident if going for a legit playthrough.
If you have pressed the key and are no longer progressing achievements there is a mod that re-enables achievements on Nexus Mods.
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/252
Read the instructions carefully as, for example, I am on PC GamePass but ended up following the Steam instructions based on the name of the DLL file I had to modify. Also, any update to the game requires re-applying the mod. Again, all in the mod instructions.
This mod is suggested to get around certain quest/mission breaking bugs that have not been patched without losing the ability to complete achievements. Is it cheating? Technically, but until Bethesda fixes the issues (if they ever) your only other option is to hope you have a save before the bug or start a new character and hope the bug doesn't happen again.
With that in mind, progress for some achievements is not retroactive once the mod has been installed. This achievement should only require you obtain one more magazine (if at or beyond 20) to unlock, but story mission will require NG+, a completely new character, or mission console commands. If you have pressed the key and are no longer progressing achievements there is a mod that re-enables achievements on Nexus Mods.

Can I use console commands for magazines?
Assuming you have downloaded the achievement enabling mod, yes. This achievement can be completed quite quickly using console commands if desired.
The important thing to remember is collecting magazines requires you to physically pick up 20 different magazines. Spawning the magazine into your inventory does not count. So how do we do that? The following command.
player.placeatme [item id] [quantity]
Example
player.placeatme 000AAA 1
What are the magazine item ids? Got you covered below in the "Magazine Names and IDs "spoiler. It's a long list.
Every command you enter will place the magazines under your feet. They are thin, so it is suggested you do this on a planet just in case there is some funky geometry with your ship floor.
If you plan on entering more than a few commands to obtain several or all the magazines you have the option of batch files. This is a simple text file you create that you can fill with as many commands as you want then run with a single command in game.

Like most Bethesda Game Studios games, Starfield too has “Skill Magazines.” Skill Magazines can be found dotted around the open-world and give your player character special abilities and stat buffs, so long as they keep these Skill Magazines (that don’t weigh anything) on their persons.
There are seemingly hundreds to collect, in all, and even duplicates of the same magazine exist - unfortunately though, the duplicates don’t count towards this achievement, they need to be unique. They can be found on the main path, in the middle of abandoned mines in the middle of nowhere or upstairs in a restaurant in The Well. There’s no pattern t where they are, really.
Collect 20 of them and this achievement is yours. Check our out Starfield all Skill Magazines guide for more assistance.
