How to unlock the Little Homeschool achievement in Steven Universe: Unleash the Light - Definitive Guide

Probably the hardest achievement to get of the 3.0 Update. To get this achievement, it requires all 3 stars for each of the three rankings you get at the end of the Black Hole Chapter. Here are some tips.

3 star level completion - This requires opening every chest and find every secret in a level. Since a yellow star appears if you 100% a level, this isn't difficult to complete.

I'm not certain if the Cosmic chest counts towards this, but one trick I found was the key would usually show up after the level, so you'd have to double back to it. If you find the key, but either die or end your black hole run, the key will stay with you. That way you can open the chest, then open the chest immediately for the next run without double backing.

3 star lives - Your allowed at least one character death. Any more you'll likely get 2 or 1 star.

3 star perfect percentage - This relates to how well you do for the Perfect Purple quick time events when doing certain attacks/defends. You need a really high percentage (it took me about 87% for 3 stars), so you'll want to avoid messing up the quick time events.

Some general tips for this part of the challenge.

1. I did this on a normal run. If you do this on a hard or diamond run, you aren't allowed items outside the run and can't see the quick time events. Their are also only 3 levels and a boss in a normal run. You'll want to go with the less attacks you need to perform, the less likely you'll mess up a quick time event and ruin your percentage.

2. Find characters you are good with on the quick time events. Some of my favorite characters for a high percentage were:
- Lapis - Her row attack can damage multiple enemies
- Bismuth - Her smash attack was relatively cheap, could damage multiple enemies, and cause a defense down.
- Peridot - I don't think her attacks had perfect timings, but summoning/destroying robonoids was a great way to get in a little damage, and boost your teamwork meter.

Other equipment I found helpful were:
Steven's second costume ability "Extra Pockets" - This gives you one double use of Cheeseburger Backpack/Items per battle.
Star Starter Badge - Start a battle with one extra star. Really helps get in an extra attack/avoid using an item.
Star Cap Badge - Not super necessary, but increases your star max.
Their aren't too many other recommendations for other characters. I increased Bismuth's attack with a Grumpy badge since she was my main attacker, but it might not be necessary.

Then start your speed run. Doing this on normal here are some tips

- I started a battle, then tried to end it on one turn. I had to use normal star fruit to finish the battle, but I had more than enough extra from playing the whole game. Steven's Extra pockets would allow me to use 2 star fruits the first turn to get 2-3 extra attacks in.

- Try avoiding letting the enemies attack and hope you get a run without an ambush battle. I preferred this since their was less randomness to the events I'd have to defend against.

- Practice your quick time events (mine were Bismuth's smash and Lapis water line attack). Their really isn't any other way to do this achievement. I found if you get 2 for some runs, but definitely 3 yellows or misses to these events, their aren't enough opportunities to get more perfects to raise your percentage to get 3 stars for the achievement. You might as well restart the run since you won't 3 star it.

- Generally, the less attacks you need to do the better. Because this meter is based on percentage, even 3 misses/yellows in a run is enough to ruin your 3 star perfect rating and not get this achievement if you only get about 20ish opportunities to do perfect attacks/defends

- Complete the levels, open the cosmic chest, then face the boss. Make sure you get the 1 chest before every boss, otherwise you won't complete your level percentage.

- Fight the boss, hopefully you get a relatively easy boss (Squaridot, a larger enemy, or even the Light clone crystal gems if you can kill them simultaneously).
All of these are pretty easy to 1-2 turn defeat with star fruits/super star fruits. Try to get a Defense down with Bismuth's smash attack can really help the damage.
Hopefully by the boss battle, your team work is high enough to summon Obsidian (or at least another high damaging ability like Lapis water arm/Bismuth forge ability). This will cut out some of the quick time events you'd be doing otherwise.

Then if you are lucky you'll have a high enough percentage of perfects to get this achievement.
Here are some approximate threshold I found for getting star ratings.

< 60% - 0 star
60% - 1 star
75% - 2 star
87% - 3 stars

One note, although the achievement popped in game, it didn't immediately trigger the Xbox achievement. I played some more and it eventually triggered. Not certain what/why that was the case, but just a note if this happens to you and you don't want to do this twice.

This may be the most difficult trophy in the game; thankfully (unless you're a completionist), it's not required for the platinum trophy.

At the end of each run in the Black Hole dungeon, you are given a letter grade.  You are scored on completion, perfects, and teammates defeated.

To earn an A++ grade, you need:
1) Get 100% completion in all stages (just like in the base game) - this DOES include opening the cosmic chest!
2) Have died no more than a single time
3) A high percentage of your combat strikes and blocks need to be perfect.  Thankfully it doesn't need to be 100% perfects, but it does need to be at least 85%

It's that last factor that leads to my belief that this is a more difficult trophy than Crying Breakfast Friend trophy_bronze.png, which I consider the second most difficult trophy on the list. .

Do this on Normal difficulty, so you can make use of both your entire inventory and the perfect block and attack stars.  Abuse the fact that you can back out of and reload the same Black Hole dungeon, and make save backups when you're absolutely certain you've cleared a level with a high ratio of perfect blocks and attacks. Truthfully, I would save any potential misses for the boss fights, as they'll often be the make or break moments for your run for this trophy.  Ideally, you'd get the boss fight from Hessonite's Warship, as that's effectively just a regular enemy, or an encounter with larger versions of standard enemies.

I did this by abusing my Amethyst loadout (see Space Train to the Cosmos trophy_bronze.png) and backing up my save at the end of every stage, only continuing on once I was certain I'd cleared a level having had only perfect attacks and blocks, saving any potential misses for the boss fight, just in case I got a bad one.

Lapis is also good character to use if you're going for this, as her (overpowered) Tidal Wave ability allows you to time your perfect hits (Bismuth's hammer attack also has this kind of meter, but I think it's a little more difficult to consisitantly hit perfects on it), and will also hit multiple times with the right upgrades.  If you decide to use her, equip her with the Attack the Light and Grumpy badges, and have someone else on your team wear the Star Starter badge.  In terms of her abilities, you will want to unlock nearly everything on the attack side - Raging Water Wall is unnecessary, and I also did it without Splashdown.

Otherwise, use non-QTE attacks if possible (like Amethyst's fire breath ability), and try your hardest not to let the enemies get attacks in on you. If you want to build up your team meter outside of the Black Hole dungeon, you can overfill it so you can summon Obsidian against a boss when you have no star points left, in an attempt to kill it before it has the chance to attack. Good luck.
