This will happen naturally during game play but you can make it go faster if you like.
On the left of the screen is a compass called "The Will to Explore." When the ring around it fills up, it will light up and you can click on it, opening the map. Choose any location on the map to go there. You cannot venture out again until the ring refills. This happens slowly over time but you can make it happen faster by watering your plants or opening letters with locations that give you a boost.
