How to unlock the Mystery Man achievement in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition - Definitive Guide
The Challenge "Mystery Man" is for defeating Q in the arcade mode. So first off, the requirements to meet up with Q in the Arcade Mode are,
1) You cannot lose a round at all out of all the matches you play.
2) Get a rating of at least a D on every stage or better.
3) Get 5 Super finishes.
4) Get 2 or more Special Points.
Let's get this done the easiest way possible for you all.
On the main menu, go to "Help & Options", then "Settings".
Change the difficulty to 1 Star. And scroll down to "Dip Switches." Turn off the Guard ability and now your opponents will no longer be able to block your attacks.
I chose Ken, only because he's the fastest of the Shoto characters.
With every opponent, Jump High Kick and then Sweep them with a Crouching High Kick. Repeat the process against the enemy and without them being able to block, it should be a cinch.
You should be able to get your super meter up pretty fast so when they get low on Health, remember to finish them off with a Super. (I did it at least every match, just to be sure that I had it done.)
Continue up past Match 7 or 8 and after finishing it, Q should appear on screen. Your new opponent has appeared. Continue with the same strategy and you should be fine. (Make sure you beat him though, because if you lose he won't re-appear and you won't get the achievement, unless you do the process all over again.)
Hope this helps you all!

Hopefully you'll make a note that you can use a second controller to prevent yourself from losing a round. Just had to use it in Round 7 against Hugo and after I came back to him I won and Q appeared.

"Mystery Man" is tied to defeating the secret boss of arcade mode named "Q". In order to face him, you must make sure you do the following...
-Don't lose a round for the majority of arcade mode. This means up until you face Q, you can't lose. Have a second controller on standby to make this part a bit less worrysome.
-Receive a grade of D or better on each stage (Keep offensive, try to avoid damage and finish your foes quickly.
-Obtain 2 special points. I wasn't sure about this one but according to Setsuna on PS3trophies.org it's for bettering your grade. For example, if you get a D and then a D+ you'll receive one. Personally, I didn't have to worry about this one and I don't think it's a major factor.
-Execute 5 super move finishes. These can be the trickiest part, however if you use heavy attacks (I preferred using L2 for heavy kicks) you'll fill your meter quickly. Get the opponent to a low health meter and use your super when they're landing from a jump or backing away.
Naturally, if you want to make this easier on yourself you'll set the difficulty to 1 star so the AI puts up less of a fight. After changing this from the settings, scroll down to dipswitches and you can tweak all sorts of settings. Personally, I turned off the guard and pressed RT twice after doing this in order to lower EX Move Energy Requirement to 1. This meant I could use infinite EX moves if I were in a pinch. I didn't abuse them, as those don't build the super meter though they do help. Look through the various options if you think anything would help your cause but be warned, these filters apply to both you as well as your AI opponent.
Save yourself with a second controller if you may lose to Q as well, you can't face him again if he beats you. This means if you lose to him you'll have to play through arcade mode once more for a chance at the trophy.

Around stage 7 if you have met the requirements to facing Q you will see a dark image of Q move across the screen indicating you have fulfilled the requirements correctly, the requirements to face Q are:
- Don't lose any rounds
- Don't get a continue
- Get at least a grade D or better on every stage
- Get 2 or more Special Points
- Get x amount of Super Art Finished, x equals:
- 1 round: 3 Super Finishes
- 3 rounds: 5 Super Finishes
- 5 rounds: 7 Super Finishes
- 7 rounds: 9 Super Finishes
Additional Tips:
For this trophy you can use a second controller and press when you are about to lose a round that will ruin your chance at fighting Q, when you do press and play local match against an unmoving character trying knocking out some of the EX or Super moves from the long term trophies.
You can also go into your "settings" and select "dipswitches" and turn off all of the guard options so that you and your opponent can no longer guard, this will make Q much easier to encounter as you don't have to worry about your opponent guarding your Supers and you can practically pound on them with whatever character you choose. Doing this however will void out "Pocket Full of Quarters" and it will not unlock upon finishing Arcade Mode.
Getting Grade D or Better:
The grading system at the end of each match is the same as most other SF games where it is gauged by the ratio and amount of successful parries, blocks, normal hits, supers and etc. For experienced players you could probably set the round settings to best of 1 and still pull out of each match with at least a D however for experienced players you maybe have to set to rounds to best 2 of 3 or more to give you more chances at hitting, blocking and using supers as the amount that you do should push you pass a D despite an average or low ratio.
Special Points:
Special Points refer to having a higher grade than what you received from your previous match so say you receive a D in your 1st Stage and then receive a D+ in 2nd Stage then that will count as a Special Point. You can 8 Stages to accomplish this. If you are averaging at least a D in each stage you are bound to get a D+ or better in other stages.
