You need all 12 controllable summons including Lahara (the dragons cannot be killed so they don't count). Getting her requires doing an extensive side quest finding 8 pages of a book throughout the world and defeating the 4 riders together in one towards the end of the game.
When you have all 12 clear an area of enemies and use Joseph to summon a creature. Then kill Joseph. You cannot attack him directly but you can use an area spell like fire wall to kill him. When Joseph dies his summoned creature becomes hostile and you can attack and kill it.
Then revive Joseph, have him summon the next creature and repeat.
Do this with all 12 controllable summons.
Be warned though the game can be buggy and crashed on me several times after multiple casts of fire wall and summons. So it's best to save your game after each killed summon to be safe.
