How to unlock the Good old times achievement in Super Street Fighter IV - Definitive Guide

In light of the Games for Gold promotion that gave Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition for free from June 15th to June 30th, 2014, I decided to edit this solution.

This solution will only work if you have the Ultra Street Fighter 4 DLC (sold separately from the GwG promotion). Edition Select will not be there if you do not have this DLC .

Well that was stupid.

Go to Versus and choose Player vs CPU
Set the difficulty to Hardest
Set the round to 1
Time doesn't even matter
Edition Select to On

Choose any character you want to play with (I chose Zangief)
----------------------
Edit 2: As noted by Duwen in the comments, not every character is an option to unlock this achievement. Yun, Yang, Oni, Evil Ryu as well as the new characters Rolento, Elena, Hugo, Poison, Decapre. I don't know if the characters added into Super SF4 will count for this achievement as I haven't tested that either.

I've left a character name that will work and if you wish to choose any other character, your
results may vary. (choose any character is more for people that played/known about the original Street Fighter 4 and don't wish to be tied down by a solution)
----------------------
Leave the edition on USFIV (its USFIV by default)
Leave the Handicap at 100%

Choose the same character as you chose for the CPU
Set his/her edition select to SFIV
Set the CPU Handicap to 0%

Now when you start the fight, the CPU will have 1 hp.

In the case of Zangief, Lariat (PPP (default on LB)) should be enough to beat it.

Just thought I'd point out that this can't be done with the 4 characters added for the Arcade Edition or the 5 characters added for the Ultra edition.

Duwen: yeah, you're right. I thought about adding it into the guide yesterday but it seemed like overkill.

Whiskey7: silly question.. but do you have the DLC or have you applied the Ultra update?

I bought the DLC. Other achievements for this have unlocked normally so far, just this one that's being awkward.

I need help! I've done it several times and the achievement doesn't pop up... another thing too is that when I go to versus and pick Player vs CPU, I don't see the edition select option. Someone help me please

please make sure you have the Ultra Street Fighter 4 DLC which did not come with the Games for Gold Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition. You won't see Edition Select otherwise. If you do have it, make sure Edition Select is turned to on.

if this doesn't work, do what SOULGAINE did; keep your character at USFIV and change the CPU to SFIV. The achievement did not work for me until I made that small change. Everything else about this guide works perfectly though. Thumbs up. Easy 30G.

This achievement won't pop for me. I've done it with several different characters now (including Gief as per the description), even a couple without changing the handicap just to be sure. No chievo :/

Easy way to get this is to

1. Go to Versus (Player vs CPU)
2. Put it on Hardest
3. Choose Ultra Street Fighter IV Ryu with a 100% Handicap as your character
4. Choose Street Fighter IV Ryu with a 0% Handicap as your opponent
5. Hadoken

The trophy is yours!

This is actually very simple. Go into Versus, find a character that was in the original Street Fighter IV roster, and select them. This includes:

- Ryu
- Ken
- Chun-Li
- E. Honda
- Blanka
- Zangief
- Guile
- Dhalsim
- Balrog
- Vega
- Sagat
- M. Bison
- Abel
- C. Viper
- Rufus
- El Fuerte
- Seth
- Akuma
- Gouken
- Dan
- Fei Long
- Rose
- Sakura
- Cammy
- Gen

When you select the character, you will have a little menu pop up to customize their costume, win quotes, colors, etc. On the bottom, you should find the version selection. When picking your character, make sure you select "USFIV" as your choice. Then when you select the CPU as the same character, select "SFIV", not "SSFIV" or any of the other options. If you picked any of the characters besides the ones listed above you will not have "SFIV" as an available option, so make sure to check that. Now to make this trophy ridiculously easy, set your handicap to 100%, and your opponent's to 0%. Now your opponent should lose to a single hit, and the trophy should unlock upon winning the match.

Go to Versus, select Player 1 vs CPU. Next: 1 round, Edition select to ON, set the difficulty Hardest. Select any fighter you like and set it to USFIV in the settings (it is the default). Then we select the same character for the enemy and set him to 0% in the SFIV and Handicap settings.
We win with one blow and get the trophy.
