How to unlock the Combo Artiste achievement in Tales of Xillia - Definitive Guide

This achievement is earned for getting a 100 hit combo. It's actually quite simple to do, and while you're at it you might as well get a 200 hit combo to get more titles/grade.

*Minor spoilers beyond chapter 3 follow*

Basically all you need to do is spam Sylph with Milla against an enemy. Obviously this can only be done after you have access to Sylph again and it's easily done anytime in the post game. Also useful is the Minimum Damage skill. It's in one of Aifread's treasures in the Old Vicalle Mine. You won't visit the Old Vicalle Mine during the story, so you'll have to make a quick side trip. You can find it near Leronde. The treasure itself is located in the back of the mine and is rather simple to find.

Before the battle change all your teammates to Manual control and give Milla Minimum Damage. Next get into an encounter with an enemy. It's a bit easier if you choose bigger enemies like turtles. I personally did it against a scorpion. Kill off everything else using someone else. The game won't let you switch characters using L1+direction but you can go to the menu and switch with Start like past Tales games. Next switch back to Milla and push the enemy to the edge of the field and start spamming Sylph. Sylph gets 10 hits per use. Even if you run out of AC it will recharge fast enough that your combo will continue. The only other problem is TP; Sylph costs 40 TP per use. All you need to do is command someone else to use an Orange or Pineapple Gel when your TP is running low (Auto Items won't work since your team is all on manual).

I think this strategy works with Undine as well but I found Sylph to be easy enough. Please let me know if I forgot anything!

Worked like a charm. Thanks.

However, I couldn't get the character switching to function. Maybe I'm missing an item that unlocks it or something. I did find that if I linked with someone and attacked, they would still attack alongside me. Then just cut the link once there was only one enemy left and did the Sylph method.

For this trophy, you’ll need to land at least a 100 hit combo on a single enemy. You’ll want to have the Minimum Damage skill first, which is found from an Aifread treasure on a stalagmite in the western area of the Old Vicalle Mine - North Region. If you also have your Accessory Shop at a level 96 or higher you can buy the Risk Ring which will reduce the cost of all artes to 1 TP otherwise you can set auto items so that your allies will heal you if you get too low on TP (credit to Ryukori for this image).

Once you have that, you’ll want to assign Milla’s Sylph to , then activate the Minimum Damage skill for her. Set everyone else to “Protect Yourself” or "Only Heal" in the Strategy menu, as shown above, then head to Rusalle Highroad, and fight one of the tortoise enemies there. Kill off all enemies but one tortoise, then break any partner links you have and lure the turtle to the edge of the battlefield and just keep pressing to spam Sylph. You’ll easily be able to get 100 hits this way. You can also do this without the Minimum Damage skill, but you'll probably need to set the difficulty to Unknown and equip your weakest weapon on Milla.

Here is a video showing how to get 200 hits with this method, which is enough to get all combo-related titles.

You need to hit a combo of 100 hits.

We set the entire party to either manual mode or a defense strategy. We also give everyone (except one character) the Minimum Damage skill. Using a character without minimum damage, we kill all monsters, except one. Switch to Milla and hit with enemy until Milla has 1-2 AC left, use her Binding Sphere art and wait until the AC is restored, then repeat hitting the enemy with and Binding Sphere. You can easily hit at least 999 combos.

It is better to use the Sylph art from the same Milla - it deals 10 hits at a time, so you can easily and quickly get the trophy.

and I spammed the pulse with shots for Alvin. The trophy is easy - there are probably many ways.

I'll add to the previous tip

The general scheme is:

1) We set everyone the Behavior Strategy Protect yourself

2) select the Minimum damage skill for all but one character (it seems to come from the Old vicaille mine, from the treasure)

3) We put mille buns for combos on TP in skills (there are 5 of them, you can understand from the description)

4) Set Elize sharing skill TP (Linked minds)

3) We push Milla to the very bottom

4) we take out all opponents except one with the character without Minimum damage (you can specifically look for thicker opponents, for example in Elympios)

5) change the main character per milla, we drive the last enemy into a corner, link with Elize and stupidly spam Sylph, so you can get several thousand if you want, because 20-30 TP is restored per combo, and until Elize runs out of them to zero (which does not happen), Milla almost never takes them away.
