How to unlock the Sous Chef achievement in Tales of Xillia - Definitive Guide
Also keep in mind that each food comes in three sizes (Small, Medium, and Large) and you can only hold one of each food in each size. There will be very few foods available from the start, but as you expand the food vendor, more and more will become available, and they'll start to drop in price. The only difference between the sizes is the number of battles the effect will last.
If you make sure to have a food effect active constantly and you're playing the game long enough to achieve everything needed for all the other trophies, this should unlock near the end of your first playthrough, or at least be close enough to unlock it in the post-game stuff. You can check your progress in the Records or Titles option of the Library menu.
Progress on this trophy carries over to a NG+.
Trigger 800 food effects to get this trophy. You’ll be able to buy food from the food vendor after you complete your first request in Aladhi Seahaven. To trigger a food effect, you simply need to use a food item from the Items menu and win a battle. Each food lasts for a set amount of battles, and you’ll get a window during the victory screen that shows the food effect being activated. You can also check how many more battles the currently active food will last by going to the menu. At the bottom right there’ll be a yellow icon that will give you this number.
It’s best to start this trophy the moment you’re able to buy food. Buy every kind of food available, and be sure to use another food item when the current one runs out. Use the yellow icon in the menu or the window at the victory screen to figure out when you need to use another one. The characters will mention how hungry they are as well as a reminder that you don’t have any food active and this happens almost immediately after any active food you have runs out. As long as you keep a food effect active for about 90% of your battles, and have a good stock of food at all times, you should have no trouble getting this trophy during your first playthrough.
