How to unlock the Risk Taker achievement in Test Drive Unlimited 2 - Definitive Guide

A pretty easy achievement to get. Just go to the slots room on the Casino Island and on the back wall is video poker. To get the achievement you have to get 3 of-a-kind on the first hand and then choose to unlock those cards. After this just pull the lever and as long as you get a 2 of-a-kind or better on this hand you win. Getting the 3 of-a-kind is the only semi hard part. I got the achievement in about 8 minutes.

The achievement will not pop if you get a full house on the first hand and drop the three of a kind and keep the two of a kind. Had that happen this afternoon.

To be clear... can you just hold two of the three of a kind and win the achievement that way? Or do you have to give away all three of the three of a kind?

This is so frustrating. I've had 6 three of a kind on the first hand so far, but the second hand has always been crap. And the game seems to give you less and less the longer you play.

Just got it after less than 5 mins of play got 3 8s gave them up and got 2 Qs achievement popped

I've been at this for 1 1/2 hours and I've had only two 3 of a kinds on the first hand, and both times the second hand was shite!

I gave up three of a kind to win two pair.

You don't win as much (¢25 for three of a kind VS. ¢10 for two pair), but... achievement unlocked! Isn't that what we all care about anyway?

UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

The hardest thing about getting this trophy is getting a winning hand after getting rid of a three of a kind. Now a three of a kind can be any three like cards with any type of symbol on it (Hearts, Diamonds, Spades or Clovers). Now once you get rid of the three of a kind and a winning hand pops up, whether it's a 2 of a kind or anything above and better, the trophy will pop. Check this video out (credit to Godchild1020):

When you enter the Casino, go up the staircase on the right to get to the slot machines. Upon entry to the room, the Poker Slots are at the back of the room.

In order to give up Three of a Kind, you'll be required to produce 3 of the same card (7,7,7 for example) on your first pull. The slot machine will automatically "Hold" these cards by pressing  for you on these cards.

Now, before you pull again, make sure the light below these cards is not lit. Press  while selecting these cards to ensure you will give them up. Now pull the handle and hope you get a winning hand to unlock this achievement.

When playing video poker, you need to get a set (three cards of the same value) on your first hand. We remove the checkmarks from them and turn the machine. If on your next hand you get at least a pair (two cards of the same rank ) - the trophy is yours.
