How to unlock the Champion of Athena achievement in The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena - Definitive Guide

WARNING!! This method will likely reset all of your progress from both campaigns. Get them first, or create a backup save somewhere else and don't touch it until after you've done this.

You can do this in a MUCH easier way. I beat the game 2 years ago on Easy, and just popped this one now. You don't even have to play through all of the Executive level, just the last checkpoint, which the game conveniently saves for you.

The bad news is that you have to fight the last boss on Hard, but that's surprisingly easy. Follow Confused Shelf's outline.

1) Beat the game on Easy. Or Normal. Your choice. You could also beat it on Hard if you want to, that would also work. wink

2) This is important: make sure you stop and move your file before you beat the last boss, else you'll have to play through the last level again. (Not too hard, though, only about 5 minutes or so.)

3) Assuming you didn't beat this on Hard (and that's why you're reading this), go to the dashboard and move your savegame to a memory stick.

4) Go back into the game and start a new game on Hard. Play through to the first checkpoint. (I went all the way to after I jumped down to kill the drone, but you might be able to do this before that.)

5) Exit the game. Go to Options => Select Storage Device. Select your memory stick.

6) Select Continue Game. You will find yourself just before the last fight. You'll find that she's quite a bit trickier than he was before... the game has scaled the difficulty up to Hard.

7) As Confused Shelf said, use the SCAR gun on the elevator button to open the shaft. Then shoot her about twice each time to knock her down and closer to the shaft. You may not even need to melee her; I was able to just keep blasting her back with the SCAR.

8) The cheeve will pop as the credits roll.

I think you should make a thread in the Lists board ... "Games with tricks for completing Hard modes" :P

I just completed The Darkness on hard using your trick there, and am now looking at starting Riddick, and this solution is almost word for word the same as The Darkness, made me smile :D I'm sure I'll be +1ing this. as I did for the other lol

Dude, this works great. However, it might be worth mentioning that, not only do you lose any/all collectibles, but you also lose ALL progress towards ALL achievements on that save file (I did, anyway). All previously popped achievements still show as "Done", but on the MP achievements with a counter, everything is zeroes across the board, even already popped achievements and MP kills and wins. (sigh) Fortunately, there's an easy idle boost method for both (at the same time, which is convenient). :D
+1 on the solution, btw... :)

I don't think so, but pretty much any game by the people from Starbreeze (Darkness 1, Riddick, Wolfenstein: TNO and maybe Syndicate) all have the same style for the hard mode achievements, as an FYI.

I just wanted to add if you played through this on easy and use this solution you will get the Hard Difficulty achievement. Afterwards load up the last checkpoint on normal and play through to the end and you will also unlock the Normal Difficulty achievement as well. Just a heads up for those who are wondering.

You should not that it also resets multiplayer progress! I had 1300 kills and 107 wins and now 0!

Multiplayer for this game is dead & you should back up your save to the cloud before moving it to a external hard drive/flash drive.

This guide is for the last boss battle. What might appear at first to be a challenging fight is actually very straightforward. When you first walk into the room, before the cutscene fire at the switch at the opposite end with your SCAR gun and blow the lift door open. Walk forward and trigger the cutscene with Revas and then rush her position. If you were in the right place Revas won't see you. Equip your Ulaks, charge round on the left of the computer block and slash away. If you pull the trigger fast enough she won't be able to fight back and once she takes damage she will start to fall over, hopefully towards the list shaft. Keep pushing her all the way over until she falls triggering another cutscene and the credits and with any luck, your achievement.

Alternatively, although I haven't tried this. Save up all your SMG ammo and then position her between you and the lift shaft and open fire. She goes shooting across the floor, unable to fire and this might work for knocking her down the shaft.

Edit: I have since completed the game again and the SMG stratergy works a charm. You can end the fight in a matter of seconds. There is only one opportunity to get the SMG after leaving the Athena for the first time so make sure you don't miss it. It's on a Merc just after defeating your first Alpha Drone but before defeating your second.

The SMG is the way to go, I finished her off in under 10 seconds this way. At the start of the fight, run to the left towards her and start hitting her with the SMG pushing her towards the elevator door. Hit the button to open hit, then fire a few more shots to push her in. Easiest boss fight ever!

The SMG is actually AFTER you defeat the second Alpha Drone, it is dropped by a merc in the tunnel after blowing up the manhole cover and climbing down the ladder. I reloaded my checkpoint before reaching the second Alpha Drone 3 times because I thought I had somehow missed it.

Additionally, after activating the Rail-Track Computer at the beginning of Refinery, two of the 3-4 mercs that enter from the left dropped SMGs.

Good shout on those locations. I'm pretty sure there was a guy after the first Alpha Drone bursts through the wall. It's at the part where you have to press a button to raise (or lower) a bridge so you can cross to the second Alpha Drone. It's the same place where you contact a survivor that asks you to destroy the comm jammers.

I was prepared to piss and moan about the SMG strategy not working, but an important bit of information was left out -- you have to knock her down first, then shoot her. It just plain does not work if you don't knock Revas down with a melee attack first. Thus, the strategy is 1) rush up to Revas, 2) cn_RS to knock her over, 3) shoot her until she slides into the elevator shaft.

It's also worth noting that you can use a lot of the guns. I tried it with the sniper and assault rifle for funsies and they work just as well as the SMG does. The SCAR gun probably works too since its whole shtick is physics impulses.

Hard difficulty is not that hard. Play the game on hard from the start. Once you finish the Assault from Dark Athena campaign, switch the difficulty to normal and replay the final chapter to unlock Master of Athena.
