How to unlock the Explosive Master achievement in The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena - Definitive Guide

While it's handy to have the requirements outlined, I thought I'd just lend a little bit of insight as to what are some of the ways you can go about achieving these goals.

Okay.

1. Get a direct grenade launcher kill.

As far as I know, this simply means scoring a kill by hitting your opponent on the full with your grenade launcher. So, with that obviously being the case you have two options. You can play your chosen game-mode, and get this legitimately, or you can do what everyone has had to resort to - boost.

So simply get your boosting partner to stand against a wall, line up your crosshair and cut loose. It may take two grenades, depending on his health, but as long as it explodes upon impact, you should net this one.
2. A direct SCAR gun kill.

I believe this is very similar to the grenade launcher component of this achievement. So I'd recommend getting your boosting partner to, once again, stand against a wall and simply stick him with about three (that oughta do it) orbs to him (RT) and then proceed to explode him from a safe distance (LT).

This should net a direct kill with your SCAR gun.
3. A blind fire explosion kill.

This one had me confused for the longest while, as I tried a number of techniques. Then me and my boosting buddies worked out a good one. Find a hallway, or alcove that has a corner with an adjacent wall; then have your prey stand out of sight around the corner.

You'll then want to shoot a grenade from your launcher at the wall opposite him, so it bounces in his direction, damaging him consequently. This will take two shots if he is at full health, but as long as he is out of sight - you should register a blind fire explosives kill.
4. A explosion double kill.

This one is simple, get two boosting buddies and have them stand together backs to a wall (execution style). Then once again, using your grenade launcher, lob a grenade at them. If they're at full health this won't kill them, but will scatter them.

So have them group back up with whatever remaining health they have and finish the job. Presto, double kill.
5. Deal out over 600 explosives damage in one round/life.

This one is easy if you're boosting, and even if you're not. It basically means you need to get a total of six kills on your opponents with explosives in one life - presuming that they're all at full health.

Though, it could work out less if they also are wearing armour. There is obviously no way of knowing if you've managed to accumulate the required amount, so aim to overshoot it just in case you miscalculate and fall short. It's easier to just boost it and have a partner come to you repeatedly and surrender his life until you reach your target.
And that's all you need to do to net the Explosives Master achievement. Good luck, and thanks for reading.

Wow, I really like the use of what I'm assuming to be quotes around each part of the achievement. Looks so clean and organized. I will use this when I start later this week. Thanks!

WTF? Does this all have to be done in the same match? I know I met the requirements, but it isn't popping. The grenade stuff is easy to dual box on Fate's Dam, but there's no Scar that I can find. I can't get a double kill on the Factory with only one other box to kill.

Oh, found the achievement stats. I know it said double kill, but it isn't counting when I get a double on one player.

  • Get a direct kill with the grenade launcher:
For this you will need to use the standard grenade launcher and fire the grenade right at your boosting partner, make sure the grenade hits them and not the ground as splash damage won't count! Two grenades should net you the kill. You will also probably get this while boosting kills.
  • Get a direct kill with the SCAR grenade launcher:
You need to use the SCAR gun for this, if you need help finding it then See "Juggernaut". It's the gun that fires blue explosive orbs that are remote detonated. After you pick the gun up fire 3 orbs onto your boosting partner with and then detonate with . Make sure the grenades are actually stuck to your friend or it won't count.
  • Get an out of sight kill with the grenade launcher:
You know how at the start of a Call of Duty match people throw a random grenade for a few lucky kills? Same thing here! You want to tell your boosting partner to hide behind a wall so they are out of sight and then fire a grenade off a wall so it bounces in their direction. As long as you can't see them and you get the kill, it will count.
  • Get an Explosive double kill:
You are going to need 3 people for this one! I suggest using the SCAR gun and stick 2-3 orbs on each player and then blow them up to get two kills at the exact same time. The announcer will say "Double Kill!". If you need any help finding the SCAR gun then See "Juggernaut".
  • Do 600 worth of damage in one life:
You can either kill an enemy over and over or shoot a grenade at your feet and heal up, either works perfectly fine as long as you don't die! If you do die you will have to start over. It's probably easier just to kill an enemy as they spawn with 100 health so 6 kills will get the job done. It's also worth saying that you will without a doubt achieve this when boosting the kills.
