How to unlock the High Security Jail Break achievement in The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena - Definitive Guide

WARNING!! This method will likely reset all of your progress from both campaigns. Get them first, or create a backup save somewhere else and don't touch it until after you've done this.

You can do this in a MUCH easier way. I beat the game 2 years ago on Easy, and just popped this one now. You don't even have to play through all of the Take Off Platform, just the last checkpoint from where you meet the bosses, which the game conveniently saves for you.

The bad news is that you have to fight the last bosses on Hard, but it's not impossible. See description below.

Here's what to do:

1) Beat the game on Easy. Or Normal. Your choice. You could also beat it on Hard if you want to, that would also work.

2) Make sure you have max health for the boss fight. If you're not at maximum health, load up checkpoint 36. There are several health stations on this level, but definitely make sure that you fully recharge in the room where you get into the Heavyguard, on the right wall as you move toward the back. You won't get another opportunity. Then play through to the last boss fight, after the long cutscene.

3) This is important: right after you get to the final bosses (and the save icon appears), quit to the main menu. Don't fight the bosses.

4) Assuming you didn't beat this on Hard (and that's why you're reading this), go to the dashboard and move your savegame to a memory stick.

5) Go back into the game and start a new game on Hard. Play through to the first checkpoint. (I went all the way to after I jumped down the ladder, but you might be able to do this before that.)

5) Exit the game. Go to Options => Select Storage Device. Select your memory stick.

6) Select Continue Game. You will find yourself just before the last fight. You'll find that the bosses deal a bit more damage than before... the game has scaled the difficulty up to Hard.

7) Grab the shotgun from the floor to your left and immediately shoot the chandelier above you. Regroup, use the dot on your laser sight to find the hidden enemy, and unload your clip into him. That should kill him and still leave you with health. Then use your sight to find the other mech and do the same.

8) Sit through the last cutscene. The cheeve will pop as the credits roll.

No you have to do it twice. Normally if you play on hard all the way through you still have to do the final checkpoint on normal to get that achievement.

You should note that it resets MP progress as well. I had 1300 kills and 107 wins and now 0!

That sucks... But the good news is that you can idle turbo your wins if you have a turbo controller.

Still works. A couple points:

-) you get your first checkpoint immediately after getting control of Riddick at the beginning of the game. Given that cutscenes and the credits are unskippable, I decided to shave off playtime here to speed it up.

-) a missing bit from step 5 is "start a new game on hard from your hard drive". You can infer this from later steps but this missing tidbit made me second guess the process for a few minutes.

-) the cloud also works. I put a backup save on a memory stick and set that aside while I did this method to unlock the achievements with the hard drive and the cloud.

Can also say this 100% works. But you will only get the Achievement for Hard.
So just load the last checkpoint ( Take off platform ) On Normal. And run through it again.
doesn't take long at all!

Well I can confirm that this works. So 1st save of the new game (on hard) to your 360 hard drive, then load & continue from your USB stick. I saved my original game file to yet another memory stick then reloaded that after I got the achievement. All your collected items will be back as they were. Weak spot for the last 2 bosses is to shoot them in the face. I was shocked at how fast they went down lol. Thanks a bunch for this Sasha, great work.

If it does, I didn't realize it. Yikes. On the other hand, you can get all the MP done in a 5-person boosting group in one session, except for the kills and wins. Those can be done with a Whori. If you need help with the MP, lemme know. I have 2 copies.

Thanks so much. I had completed the game on hard, or so i thought, i did have to reload a checkpoint (From the Main Menu) to go back for a collectible, i'm thinking this screwed my achievement up facepalm. This saved the day though thanks!

I used "Cloud Storage" for move the save to, works as good as a USB drive.

I just wanted to add if you played through this on easy and use this solution you will get the Hard Difficulty achievement. Afterwards load up the last checkpoint on normal and play through to the end and you will also unlock the Normal Difficulty achievement as well. Just a heads up for those who are wondering.

I thought when I did this I got Normal and Hard at the same time. I usually only ever play on Easy if there's a workaround.

First, you must know what NOT to do if you don´t wanna end the campaign without the achievement. Start a NEW hard campaign (don´t try reloading the first checkpoint, it won´t count as beating the game), and don´t ever change difficulty until you end the game. You can reload checkpoints, but only with the hard difficulty. If you don´t start a new campaign or you change the difficulty, you won´t unlock it.

Next, you should learn the basics. Try to be always in the dark, and make sure you have X mode activated. You should see the screen blue through most of the game if you want to succeed. Remember to break the lights. You can do it with a gun, with the tranquilizer, or turning lights off (yeah, look well because there are buttons in some rooms).

Aim always to the head. In hard setting, enemies will spot you as soon as you fire, and will start shooting to the dark, just where you were. They just need a few to kill you. And you will need a lot to kill them if you shoot at their body. If the guard is behind a corner, wait until it pops up. If he switches between being hidden or not, just aim where his head is when he is out. Most times, the pointer will become bigger when you are going to hit him. You can kill from one hit at any distance, even with the shotgun, if you aim to he head.

If you haven´t got guns, try to kill enemies always from the back. Use RT if he´s alone and more could come. Use LT when there are more guards on the room. Don´t try it with a gun equiped, you will just shoot. You can do it with knifes and other hand to hand combat weapons though. Don´t bother hiding corpses. You´ll just keep shooting lights as you progress.

If you think you can run through a room without encountering any enemy, try to do so. There are lots of rooms where you can progress unnoticed, or just losing a square or two. Always think if there is a way not to encounter anything, and if you can´t, try the path with fewer enemies needed to kill.

If you are on the beginning of the game, don´t shoot all lights off, because then you won´t be able to see without your shotgun light, if you have one. That means enemies will spot you easily, so try turning off just the lights you need until you have your night vision.

When you are on the sewers, don´t kill people if you can´t do it silently. You can open some wardroves to find enemy´s clothes, so you can play from there just walking around.

In parts with infinite enemies (dwellers or aliens) don´t bother to enter X mode, just run and gun. Reaload every time there aren´t any enemies on sight. Try not to look too up, because this enemies are small and can hit you easily if you don´t spot them. The shotgun is the best against them.

When you find Riot Guards, try always to evade them. If you can´t, shoot at their back many times with the shotgun, fire at a barrel near them, or fire them from an high place. They will be able to hit you, but you can hide well. If you have a gatling, just kill them.

Remember that the game will remember how is every room. That means if you leave a room with a Riot Guard alerted, he will stay alerted if you arrive, even after playing from an hour. Several rooms can conect events too. For example, when you play the part with many cameras, aliens and guards, don´t break all the lights. If you do so, you won´t find much aliens in the next rooms, because cameras will kill them. Kill of the guards and cameras and there will be aliens for the most part.

Evade the arena fights. Is easier to just do the drug mission. You will need to kill two on the arena, then buy a knife from the A section, and enter the food yard to find where they hide some items. Then get a moth, pick drugs, and done. Later arena´s fights are hard and you could get into trouble.

Buy a gun if you haven´t got it yet. It can help you on the arena, but the tranquilizer will save your life often, and it doesn´t run out of ammo. Remember that it can turn lights off, something you can´t do when you buy it.

For the last two guards of the games (Hoaxie ones) don´t bother picking the gatling. Just a shot on the back with the shotgun, and you will kill them. Shoot some lights off and just run to their backs shooting like crazy. In my second hard attempt, I did it on my first try.

And don´t forget to enjoy the game, even on hard it can be really fun, and even easy. There are just a few rooms where you just can´t go quietly, the rest of the game can be done being on the dark, shooting heads off :) And that isn´t really hard if you are careful.

Lastly, if you haven´t beaten the normal setting yet, you can just reload the last checkpoint after beating hard, beat Hoaxie´s Guards again, and unlock that achievement too. You can´t do that with normal and then hard.

Do you mean the first guy in a mecha? As everything in the game, you can do it in many different ways. You can try to play a cat-mice game, and shoot him in the back with the shotgun. You can try running from him and shooting him always in the dark... But the best way if you really have trouble with this guy is going up some crates, and stay on the upper area of the room. There, he can´t shoot at you if you aren´t in sight, so you can just keep firing him when he´s not looking at you. It will take longer, but it´s a lot easier than any other way.

Just remember that his weakspot is the back.

This pertains to the final hoxie bossfight only. You can do the rest on your own, its not too hard.

But i have to say the final bossfight is complete bullshit. There doesnt seem to be a strategy that works reliably, but here is the closest ive found.

Straight after the fight starts, step back so that both pillars obscure the robots line of sight which will save you health. When they stop shooting, pick up the left or the right shotgun and run and hide in one of their cupboards they came out of. This is pretty much the only reliable cover you can get. You are supposed to shoot them in the back, they dont take damage from the front from what i can see or while invisible, and its basically impossible to get behind them, but they have this peacock-like thing coming out of their backs which you can see from the front, so you have to shoot high over their heads from the front to hit the top of this thing which counts as the "back" for some retarded reason.

So anyway you are now hiding in one of the cupboard things, you have to try and bait one of them into coming right up in your face. Take potshots at one of them from afar (above the head to soften it up) until it comes to you Now you better have a good aim and try and shotgun the peacock thing above its head quick before it turns you into mulch because you have zero cover. You will probably lose most of your health. Dont worry if this takes you many times to even get one of them this way, its basically random whether this works or not but it will work sometimes. Now al you have to do is get lucky twice in a row with this method and there you go.

This is the way i did it, took me over an hour of constant repetition and random outcomes, for example i got it in the end after having killed one from afar without even realising it and then the other one right up close.

So in conclusion, this is the most bullshit broken final boss fight in an otherwise really good game and this is a long and frustrating method, but its the closest ive found to one that works semi-regularly.

Worked for me, thumbs up! Ran out of shotgun ammo, hosed the last one down with the mini gun.

I agree that this is most BS boss fight ever as well.

Hard difficulty is not that hard. Play the game on hard from the start. Once you finish the Escape from Butcher's Bay campaign, switch the difficulty to normal and replay the final chapter to unlock Medium Security Jail Break.
