How to unlock the Honest Fighting achievement in The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena - Definitive Guide

Here's another way and the way I did it. I'm a massive coward, so basically, once you've 'activated' Jaylor and he's appeared, go hide under the crawl space on the right of the room, the one with 2 exits. Make sure he sees you go in. He'll wait by that hole for a while, enough time for you to run out the other end, creep up on him and combo punch him for 3 or 4 clean punches. Then run back into hiding. Sometimes he'll 'freeze' in the middle of the room, staring at one of the entrances, you can still just creep up behind him and lamp him one.

All done in a few stealthy, cowardly, back punches :)

Just to clarify, use the crawl space with the 2 exits closest together. go in and hide in the shadow until he lowers his fists and walks away. Then sneak up behind him, stand up and start hitting him until he turns around again. Repeat.

I was never able to do exactly like Gizmo2k described, but close enough.

Completed on hard with only one health bar. Great stuff, thanks.

Thanks from another "one bar on hard" player. I would guess anyone playing on hard has only one health bar for that fight. Maybe two if you can run perfect zig-zags and get running head shots.

A very important addendum: make sure you have a weapon equipped after you exit the mech, and after switching to your fists, do not get out another weapon. Even if you don't fire it or use it to kill Jaylor, taking out a weapon invalidates the achievement.

I had this problem because I thought Jaylor was bugged, and switched to and from my assault rifle a few times. I did not receive the achievement.

Followed the solution directions and worked like a charm. Real nice after getting torn up during the mech run and only have 1 bar of health like some of the others.

This achievement is a pain, even on easy. As such, do it on easy.

This achievement comes shortly after checkpoint 51. Celldecks Riot begins.Once you leave the mech and watch a quick cutscene (cry), Jaylor will be yelling at you to put away your weapon. To even make him appear, you must do so, so go ahead and switch to your fists.

Melee fights against bosses in this game are so incredibly broken. Under normal circumstances, the openings you have to hit them is incredibly minuscule. This makes a direct confrontation usually lead to your death. You may get a few lucky strikes in but it is almost certain you will run out of life before you succeed.

The only way I have found to work in this fight is to stand away from Jaylor and have him walk towards you. Just as he enters melee range, tap down on LS and RT at the same time. This should cause you to do a very quick uppercut. A good 3/4 of the time, Jaylor will fail to block this. If it connects, he will get stunned and knocked backward. Don't try to close the distance and get another hit, he will recover too quickly. Instead, let him come to you and repeat the process. There is a good chance that eventually he will block and counter this. When he does, back up and repeat the process.

If you are having trouble with the fight, you can pull a weapon out after it begins and kill him with that in order to continue the story. However, that isn't a fair fist fight, which the game is aware of, and you will rule yourself out of getting the achievement. Also, there will be another battle a while after where this will not be an option, so you may as well get used to fighting like this there.

Jaylor has a weak opening point in his fighting skills immediately after he fires a punch. To take advantage of this, approach Jaylor, but stay just out of his reach. He will step forward. Just as he starts to move his arm for a punch, step back. He will swing and miss. Immediately step forward and hit with a left/right combination. You'll strike him square in the face. Take two steps back and repeat. It'll take about 10 hits for him to go down on normal mode. I was able to take him with 1 square of health.

You'll meet Jaylor in Checkpoint 51 (Celldecks Riot). Kill him with just your fists to get the trophy.

If you are struggling with this one on hard, just skip it. After you complete Assault on Dark Athena, switch the difficulty to easy, then load up Checkpoint 51. He'll be super easy to kill then.
