How to unlock the The Cursed Templar achievement in The Cursed Crusade - Definitive Guide

Nightmare difficulty is unlocked after beating the game on any difficulty. After you beat the game simply switch difficulties and begin again (dont forget the prologue). All your upgrades carry over, and if you are finding the chests and crucifixes on your first run, you should have enough to max all weapon stats. You should have enough points for all skill attributes by ch 2, mission 2 (or 3).

Some general info/tips for Nightmare:
1) Use environmental kills when possible. Luring the enemy and killing with the interactive fire lamps found throughout the levels will put you in a cutscene. You will be invunerable during the scene and will instantly kill any enemy. The lamps can be a bit particular about your character being in just the right spot, so be prepared to deflect.
2) there are some areas where you can run past enemies, but not too many. entering the curse will cause you to move faster and break your combat stance quicker. Running is an effective method during ch 3 (mission 3 i think) when Denz and Esteban become separated, and ch 5 mission 1.
3) try to use a mace and sword or ax combo. Maces are more effective against armor.
4) once you get the LT + B flame attack, use it often, as it will stun enemies. this is especially helpful for boss attacks because boss minions will often endlessly respawn. the stun will allow you to focus on the boss and end the level quickly (even ch 4 mission 3 which seems difficult for many)
5) fighting death and certain bosses (4/3) require you to do a flame combo between characters, so take note of those on your first playthrough
6) when fighting the big demon on Ch 4 / msn 5, use the base flame (LT + A) 2x to attack on his head when he falls, it will take about 5 hits in 3 min using fire. If your try to just use weapons, all your weapons will break on nightmare and you will never kill him.
7) isolate enemies when you can, or run away first and let them chase your partner.
8) use heal (LT + Y) in between fights if you are wounded. You must stand next to the other character and sometimes you must enter cursed mode first before you can heal. You cannot heal unless you are down at least one health bar.
9) Some people experience a glitch on this ach. I personally did not, but if you do, the general concensus is that replaying the last level with credits seems to do the trick.
10) staying in the curse too long will cause you to die. In order to maximize your time in the curse, upgrade it early (obviously). A helpful trick also is to exit curse mode when you go into a weapon finishing move. you will be invunerable during these moves and this will allow your curse meter to recharge. once the move is complete, reenter curse mode. I found i was able to effectively fight in cursed mode for almost the entire game using this method. Once you have upgraded your weapons, you will execute the finishing moves fairly often, even if you are a button masher like me.

Well, I think these are the highlights, if anyone has suggestions please feel free to comment.

Drorelith, sorry I don't really remember what part you are talking about. I didn't like this game and ditched it as soon as I was done.

I don’t know if this is a glitch for everyone, but I figure I would put this out there.

You will obtain this achievement by completing the story. However, if like me and you are doing it in co-op over Xbox live, and you are the 2nd player, it may not pop when you finish the game.

To get it to pop, continue your game in solo, and choose the final cut scene. It should pop after you skip the scenes, when the credits start.

While this shouldn't be too hard here are a couple of tips to keep in mind:

  • Skip all of the cutscenes. Easily half of this game is cutscenes so feel free to skip them all and cut your time down.
  • Skip any instances of fighting where it is NOT your objective. In other words, if you do not need to kill that group of soldiers to progress in the mission, don't do it--you will only waste time, your health, your curse, and your weapon's condition.

The most difficult trophy in a fairly easy game, on this difficulty two or three hits from the enemy will be enough to break your armor.

Pass your NPC partner forward, let him fight, you do it yourself by pressing , fry the enemy from behind his back, but don’t forget to keep an eye on the cursed energy bar, it’s usually enough for three targeted fire strikes ( )

In the last chapter, do not shoot with fire (enough for two shots), it’s better to just turn on and take big swords or axes and hit them with them, but don’t forget about the crusade bar, because in the fight your partner will be so pinched that he won’t always be able to help you.

I’ll add a hint from Veppes .

Truly a worthy trophy. Because the game does not have first aid kits or armor repairs, which can be broken in 2 hits. The most nerve-wracking stages on this difficulty are Chapter 4 mission 3 and Chapter 5 mission 1.

1) The difficulty of Chapter 4 of mission 3 is that it is advisable to get to the boss with intact armor, and throughout the stage you will be confronted by heavy knights and guards. Therefore, as written above, we let Esteban move forward, distracting the enemies towards him. We help him from afar, frying enemies with fire, not forgetting about the bar of cursed energy. If one of the enemies breaks through to you, we parry the attack, and switching to cursed mode we strike back. But we always try to stay not far from Esteban, otherwise he will be kicked out. The boss itself is not difficult, but the endlessly reborn warriors of hell get in the way. Therefore, the tactics are as follows: we stun everyone with a wave of fire + , and immediately to the boss + (Esteban will join). We immediately give up this activity as soon as the opponents approach; if necessary, we run around the location in a circle, distracting them towards ourselves. We repeat the procedure. The key to survival is constant running.

2) The difficulty of Chapter 5 of Mission 1 is the same as 4.3. you need to get to the final with full armor - otherwise it will be difficult. There is a nuance here - for some reason, the bar of cursed energy in this stage is consumed twice as fast - watch out, otherwise you will lose a bar of health that is not replenished. The key to survival is to drive more quietly. Feel free to shoot enemies from afar with targeted magic. The last room will be crowded - get ready to parry any blow, do not be distracted by enemies for the sake of the goal. If you feel surrounded, press + and again to the goal. Be prepared to save Esteban, who surprisingly can be taken out quickly here.

Playing 5-1 with a partner is preferable because one is spamming + , and the other one fries + , like the battle at the previous level: one chops, the other pulls the lever.

At the end of the previous playthrough, you supposedly received all/most of the techniques. On Nightmare, I recommend using sledgehammers more often, because they remove armor well. I recommend downloading the bar for being in infernal mode first and turning it on constantly during the battle. We turn it off only during the finishing animation, so you will practically not see the world in real form, but all enemies without exception will lose their armor. I recommend forgetting about infernal powers, they waste the curse scale, use them only for plot purposes.

And in general the game is cooperative, Esteban's AI is normal + his enemies are difficult to kill, but he uses a standard set of weapons, so he has a hard time against armored enemies. Therefore, playing with a friend is preferable precisely because both can choose a weapon depending on the situation.
