I recommend saving magic until you reach the boss. When you start the battle, attack him with magic. That'll take a good amount of health from him. After that you need to get close enough to bait him to swing his sword which will leave his head vulnerable for just a second. Jump and throw a shuriken at his head. Just keep repeating that until he's dead.
