Simply make sure you're riding your scooter (or your skateboard, which you can switch to in the menu) everywhere and you will easily hit 26 miles by the time you finish a full Adventure Mode playthrough.

It's worth noting aquatic vehicles also count towards this, as I actually unlocked this while riding the sea dragon vehicle you automatically switch to while in the water.
