How to unlock the Shhhhhh achievement in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre - Definitive Guide

*Update*
According to the comments, it seems this achievement is slightly buggy, along with few others. You may or may not unlock this even if you do everything as needed.

ShovelDemon1 has also stated that this can't be unlocked in private matches.

Cotten69 has confirmed that it’s unlocking in private matches now!

JOHN SWFC has the best method (IMO) if you have a team you're playing with. Basically, the person going for the achievement stays in the basement by the basement exit and only moves every so often (so you don't DC). The others then go upstairs and unlock the basement door. This way you won't risk being spotted at all and you'll be able to escape.

There are quite a few different ways of making noise in this game. You can get this achievement solo (that's how I got it) however I would suggest finding a team to play with if you're going for this.

"noise" in this game is notified by the red ((( ))) sound effect around your character/what's making the noise. There are two main ways you risk making noise in the game.

Noise mini-game: When you interact with certain things in the world (usually highlighted by tapping x), you will be made to play a mini-game. When in this mini-game you will see one big bar, and then to the left a smaller bar. For this, you need to either tap or hold X to fill the middle yellow bar. As you do this the left white bar will fill as well, if this gets too high or overgoes the top line, you will "make noise" and a red ((( ))) will appear around you and/or the item.

My suggestion for this mini-game is to tap x only once the bar has dropped down. This way you will not risk making any noise, and IMO it is actually a quicker way to get through the mini-game than by holding X.

The other way of making noise is by running or bumping into things. Such as through doors, hanging bones, out windows, or into chickens. If you get in a chase you want to try and be careful of this, as it is VERY easy to make the ((( noise ))) appear.

If you make any noise either by venturing around the map or by interacting with something too quickly, you will lock yourself out of this achievement.

I will list the ways you can end up making noise and any tips on avoiding this.
Getting off the hook: Yes, right at the start of the game, you can very much make enough noise to lock yourself out of this achievement. Getting off the hook you will play the noise mini-game mentioned above.

Hanging bones: You will find these mostly in the basement and some in the house. Walking through these will shake them and can cause a ((( noise ))) effect to happen. Now, if you crawl or walk through these you may make a little noise but not enough to be highlighted - however, I am not sure if this will count as making noise, so it is best to NOT walk through these and to play it safe. In the meantime, if you find a bone pile you can search it for bone scrap or a bone knife as I like to call it. With the bone knife, you can cut down these hanging bones and keep things safe.

Interacting locks, bone scraps, tool boxes, opening crawl spaces etc: These are all the noise mini-games you will come across (that I am aware of). Majority of the time if you're prompted to press X you'll end up playing this mini-game. This is the same as wiggling off the hook at the start of the game. There will be two bars, the left is the noise level and the middle is the interaction progress. If the noise level gets too high you will see ((( ))) in red and you've fucked up. As with getting off the hook, it is best tap X only when the noise level has dropped down, and keep going until you're done.

Metal basement doors: Opening the metal basement doors, no matter what, will cause a red ((( ))) notification to show up and lock you out of this. You will need another player to open the door for you to escape the basement without making noise. As soon as you see another player, stick by them and follow them out!

Chickens!: Around the map are chickens in a cage. You will hear these before you see them. If you hear a chicken, scan around to see where it is at and stay well away! If you get to close a red ((( ))) will go off and you will have "made noise". If you're playing with others, they can very well kill a chicken with bone scrap! Please also be careful with escaping the maps, there are sometimes chickens located near the exit so it can be risky!

Rushing doors: If you're in a chase be careful running and closing doors as this can cause you to make noise and lock you out of the achievement. It is better to take things slow and to try avoid getting into a chase.

Gramps: Now I am not too sure on this one. Gramps is always seated and located somewhere on the map. If you get too close to him you risk him yelling and highlighting your position. I am unaware if this is classed as making noise. When gramps is awake he will also yell and if you're caught moving you're highlighted to the family. I am unsure if this is classed as making noise as well but I believe it isn't. ABoTxBagel has confirmed that you can be detected by Gramps and you can still get this achievement!

As I mentioned you can do this solo as I did. Though it will be muse easier with a team. They can clear the route you need to take and open the gate, if they make noise it will be fine as long as you don't.

Just make sure you take things slow and you will be okay!

Looks like you can be detected by gramps and still get the achievement. I got detected from the first time Grandpa activates and it still gave it to me, it even highlighted me red for a moment.

It looks like Leatherface's noise also doesn't matter for this. It put a marker over me due to him and still gave me the achievement

I unlocked this despite fighting family. Noise is going to be a red outline around your character.

Should note this is one of the 3 (besides level progression) achievements that don’t work in custom matches.

Got in a slightly cheaty/cheeky way by skulking in the basement near the fusebox exit and hoping that one of my team mates would open it for me, which after about 3 games they did!

@JOHN SWFC That's actually a really good idea, will work really well if you're playing with a team/friends.
I'll add that method to my post and give you credit!

This worked for me on my first proper attempt at it. The hard part is finding an open door in the basement to get upstairs because most of the time people close them behind them or the family do, making it very hard to get this then.
