How to unlock the Red Ridge Redemption achievement in Thea 2: The Shattering - Definitive Guide
This happens early in the "Lightbringers" questline. Basically, the Red Ridge Bandits ask you to either kill some Scavengers or Kill a Witch. This is actually Bear asking you to do this. If you kill or run off the Scavengers and report back AND have a Bandit in your party already, Captain Bear will join you. Selecting the option where he is "eyeballing" you did it for me.
The trick with this one is finding a Bandit to add to your party. Thankfully there is a few ways to do it.
I sorted unlocking this trophy out via my own experiments based on a vague discussion on the Steam forum.
I've listed the following here: A full walk through. Tips for getting a Bandit into your group
WALKTHROUGH
To start it from its initial point
Fairly early in the game you'll get an event involving a guy measuring earth tremors. His name is the Alchemist. This will reveal a map location called "Lightbringers"
Heading to this location, you are trying to gain access to a "red cave". Don't attack them, instead convince them to talk to you.
The people there, the Red Ridge bandits, will say, sure you can gain access if you go and either kill some scavengers or instead go and take care of a witch. That is Captain Bear doing the talking.
At this point, the Quest Logbook will say:
"You found the lair of the Red Ridge bandits. The bandits are willing to let you into the Red Cave, but only if you deal with some scavengers that are bothering them, or a pesky demon living in an old mine. Both locations should appear on your map now"
You can either kill or run off the scavengers. So go and kill or run off the scavengers.
Dealing with the witch, a "pesky demon living in an old mine" DOES NOT WORK for this trophy!
!! BEFORE HEADING BACK TO REPORT YOUR SUCCESS TO THE BANDITS YOU NEED TO PUT THIS QUEST ON HOLD UNTIL YOU GET AN HONEST TO GOODNESS "BANDIT" IN YOUR PARTY. !!
Head back to the Bandit Camp in the same place as you started and DO A HARD SAVE. Then tell the Red Ridge bandits you killed the scavengers.
Now, with a BANDIT already in your party, the following dialogue option should come up:
"Bear keeps eying you, looking very pleased. He seems to want to follow you. Ask him?"
Select that option. Captain Bear joins.
If that option doesn't come up, reload your save. As long as you have a Bandit class member on your team, you have met the criteria. Their description, such as Healer, Warrior, etc, must have the word Bandit in it.
I never got that dialogue option without a BANDIT in the party and have had to reload many times to get that option to appear on some play-throughs.
This guy is a fairly strong warrior type so the effort is well worth it.
HOW TO GET A BANDIT IN YOUR PARTY
GROWING UP EVENT
When a child grows up, there is the chance the option will come up to "live the life of banditry". This can happen even with half breeds. This has resulted in a Human Bandit Warrior more than once for me. I'm thinking, since they have the word 'human' in the class title that you also might be able to get a Bandit from other races to, like Orc Bandit Warrior, etc.
To get the Bandit option to show up when the child grows up they will need high wits. Gain wits via level up when they are still children and also by equipping the Bunny. The Bunny is a reward from The Bunny Man quest available in the starting area. The Bunny will give a boost to wits and this equipped Bunny's stats are added to the child's stats when the game does its analysis at the grow up event.
BANDIT EVENT
With a Beautiful person in the party, might need to be female, there is a bandit event that may result in a Bandit Captain joining you. I've not been able to make this happen, but others have. The percentage listed likely comes directly from the game's code.
'Your goods or your lives!'
[Attractive] Give the captain your best smile.
Kiss the captain passionately and have some fun.
[Beautiful] Say that you hope so as well. (requires beautiful, 10% chance)
Human Bandit Leader joins
If you know any other ways to get a Bandit on your team, please post a comment and I'll update this and give you credit
