How to unlock the Big Money achievement in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 - Definitive Guide

On August 11 2011 they are shutting down the online servers for this game. Here is a link www.ea.com/1/service-updates.

It appears that the daily tournament posts at 6 AM EST Monday morning and is available for 24 hours (not 6 hours). I did one this morning which was on "Pro" difficulty. They also have an "amateur" daily tournament that starts Tuesday at 6 AM EST. The weekly tournament also posted at 6 AM EST Monday morning and is available the whole week.

This seems like its back to normal for the time being. This really makes me wonder what the heck EA is doing over their. Anyways really appreciate the update.

**AS OF February 2011**

They post 1 weekly and 1 daily tournament a week. It is posted every sunday night at midnight eastern time and is only up for 6 hours till 6 AM eastern time. I started going for this achievement in january and it took me 6 sundays too get this. I was averaging $175,000 on daily and $700,000 on the weekly. It doesn't really matter if you come in last because no one really plays the tournaments and the difference in money between first and last is negligible.

Please note that I had to purchase all the DLC courses as 70% of the tournaments I played in were DLC. So if you don't have the DLC it probably would take around 15 Sundays to get this. But I figure (knowing EA) the tournaments won't last much longer because the new tiger comes out in a couple weeks.

I will keep checking the tournaments and update this accordingly when they are down for good.

They may have changed things from when you posted the above but it appears that the daily tournament posts at 6 AM EST Monday morning and is available for 24 hours (not 6 hours). I did one this morning which was on "Pro" difficulty. They also have an "amateur" daily tournament that starts Tuesday at 6 AM EST. The weekly tournament also posted at 6 AM EST Monday morning and is available the whole week. I'll update you if next week is different.

Yes there has definately been a change today. Used to be one weekly and one daily on a Monday morning GMT lasting only 5 or 6 hours. This week the daily lasts 24hrs from 10am GMT and the weekly 7 days from 10am. Upcoming tournaments also suggests another daily will also start tomorrow (15th Mar) at 10am. Glad there appears to be more scope for people to get this - kinda annoyed as well, had this week's tournaments followed last weeks format I'd now have the achievement - approx $4.5 out of $5m ;)

Someone had told me that EA had shut down the Tiger 10' servers? Could be hearsay, but can anyone confirm?

That's not correct - the servers are still up and running. To update to what I wrote above, there are daily tournaments that start at 6 AM EST - each day alternates between Pro and Amateur. Then there is one weekly which posts on Monday also at 6 AM EST. I've been playing them every day since my above post. Almost done!

With the weekly tournaments, do you have to play all four rounds to qualify? Or is it possible to just play one round and still get some money at the end of it?

Damn. The current weekly tourney is The Predator and that one makes me rage. Really don't want to play it another 3 times.

This was a lot of fun and I never got the achievement. I wish they would keep it up so I could play and still use all of my DLC. Stupid to buy it every year...

At the moment the top 350 players get paid out for any tournament.

Play the Pros is definitely the easiest source of cash, but most of the other tournaments are dominated by people with modified controllers and you would normally need to shoot at least -15 just to get into the top 350.

**UPDATE**

There are now amateur tournaments set in ten levels, based on skill, these are therefore now an easy source of cash. Continuing to play Tour Pro and Extreme Tour Pro keeps your stats down to enable you to play against weaker opposition.

For example, my tiebreaker when playing amateur is probably around 2,200; however because i play Tour Pro and Extreme my overall rating is only about 1,600. I therefore get to play against people who are only averaging 1,600 playing solely on Amateur. The really good guys are all up in Tier 10 for over 2,200, so the chances are you will fair a bit better.

**UPDATE OVER**

Playing the Extreme Tour Pros is probably the most reliable source of cash, as it is single attempt and therefore there is no scope to play again and again until you put together the perfect round. A round of even par will probably get you a fair wedge of cash, especially as the prize fund for these tournaments is bigger than for the other types and also has fewer players. Playing in the rain also makes life easier as the greens will run much slower.

Playing without the green grid makes it pretty tough. Just remember you can pitch and chip when you are on the green, this really helps with some of the more lumpy looking greens. Also listening to the commentators helps a bit as they give a bit on insight.

Persistence and practice is the only way.

Does this have to be done with just one created golfer? For example I have four created golfers saved and was wondering if all four earned 1,250,000 each would the achievement unlock?

I believe that this is per Gamertag, not per golfer. I didn't do it this way so can't be sure though.

Check the rankings as this should tell you whether your total relates to a golfer or the GT

Make sure you play every Daily Tournament availible and score in top 100. Do the same for the weekly and make sure you come in first in the Play the Pros tournament. Depending on how you place, you should get the achievement in 2-3 weeks. Hard and time consuming to get but it is possible if you are good.

***As of 4/18/11***

I got this game when it came out and I had $1.8 Million in live tournaments, I picked it up 3 weeks ago I have played daily and weekly tournaments as they are still up. However this week and last week's weekly tournaments are DLC courses, 3 of the last 4 days daily tournaments have been DLC courses and tomorrow's is a DLC course.
Heres an idea of the scoring in the tournaments, todays tournament was on amateur and an easy course TPC Sawgrass I finished in 21st of 79 as of 1230pm with a score of -19. The leader who seems to win every tournament, Wakoup13 was -28. That gamertag is in the top 5 seemingly daily along with a few others drifting4, Das da herb, DJOSHUA, and a few others, and they have the achievement, so this hurts ppl who dont have it as they lose abit of money in all the tournaments. I dont even start over anymore after a bad shot or anything I just get my 18 in and always score under par as I am decent at the game. And my status not including todays tournament I am up to $3.9 million was hoping to finish this week but more likely early next week due to these DLC tournaments popping up more often than not. Hope this helps out with any questions.

This one is where most of your time will be spent. In general, you will have to rank in the top couple of hundred or less to get any cash for your scores. The Amateur and Semi Pro competitions can be extremely hard to break into. So I would recommend that you try the harder difficulty tournaments. The Tour Pro and Extreme tournaments are actually easier to earn cash in. Even a round of 5, 6 or 7 over can be pretty good.

There is no short cut to this one, so play every competition you can, and you will earn the 5 million eventually.
