How to unlock the Play with the Big Boys achievement in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 - Definitive Guide
An easy hole to unlock this is Hole 10 from the Oakmont course (You will have to complete the first tournament challenge on the Oakmont course to unlock it)
When you have the course, go to traditional stroke play as Tiger Woods and change the settings to make sure:
Weather: Sunny
Wind : Gale Force
Hole Select: Custom Select
Green Speed: Very Fast
Fairway Speed: Very Fast
Mulligans: Off (You can not get the achievement with Mulligans turned on.)
Now play the hole, and if your lucky the wind will be towards the hole, in which case you will easily drive over 400 yards on this hole. If the wind is facing another direction you're pretty much screwed and will have to start again.
You may prefer to create a course made up entirely of this hole, and play the created course. This way, If the wind is poor, you can just finish the hole and hope it will be more helpful on the next hole, rather than having to quit an fiddle all the settings each time the wind sucks, which is most of the time. In 18 holes, your sure to get at least a few attempts with decent help from the wind. And whilst attempting this, you may also be able to get the Eye of the Hurricane achievement, which is for completing 18 holes under par playing through gale force wind.
400 yards = 365.76 meters
Settings:
--Traditional Game Mode
--Stroke Play
--Select St. Andrews Golf Course
--Change Weather to Sunny
--Change Wind to Gale Force
--Change Holes to Custom Select and Select the 13th Hole
--Change the Fairway Speed to Very Fast
--Change the Green Speed to Very Fast
There are three important parts to getting this one right:
1. You will need a player with decent stats. So use Tiger, or your own player is he is higher rated.
2. Getting the ball that distance will probably require a little wind assistance. Set the wind to Gale Force. On any given course, every fourth or fifth hole should have a 35 to 45 mph wind helping you.
3. Find a hole with a decent sized fairway. If it doesn't finish up on the short grass, it will not count. Plus, a ball will roll further on fairway. Any contact with rough will kill the momentum of the ball.
Tick those three off, and then just let rip. You are looking for a full power, straight shot with a full on tailwind. If you are using metric, then 400 yards is about 366 meters, give or take.
