How to unlock the GamerNet Tourist achievement in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters - Definitive Guide

This achievement is for accumulating 2,500 EA Sports GamerNet points via online challenges.

Quick Tips:
- 18 Hole Showdown will earn you the most points (1 round can earn you all 2,500 in some cases).
- Search the challenges using Busted Status (Not busted challenges earn you more points).
- Search the challenges using Points. If you know what you need, don't waste your time doing challenges beneath you.
- Search the challenges using Course (eliminate the downloadable content you may not have, or keep to a course you are good at).
- A Tie counts as a Win.
- You can select your own created golfer or a professional golfer to play the challenges with (very helpful for those just starting out).

Below are step by step instructions on how to look at your score and the different ways to earn GamerNet points.

From the main menu select: Quick Play --> XBOX Live --> EA Sports GamerNet

On this screen you will see not only your daily accumulated GamerNet points (upper right hand), but you will also see your total points in the center of the screen. You can also select Leaderboards from this screen to see your rank and total amount of GameNet points.

Okay, now that you know how to see how many points you have (or don't have), let's work on getting you some.

Select: ONLINE CHALLENGES
From here you will have several different catagories to choose from to play in an attempt to beat (or tie) other gamers from around the world and earn some GamerNet points.

You can find challenges in the following catagories:
Freestyle
Long Drive
9 Hole Showdown
18 Hole Showdown
Single Hole

Select whichever you feel comfortable with (the most points are obtained with an 18 hole showdown win) and find a challenge you think you can beat or at least tie.
I found it easiest to hit Y to search and narrow your choices for the challenges. While conducting a search you can choose whether or not a challenge has been busted or not (unbusted challenges yield higher points), the courses involved (so you can eliminate any downloadable content you may not have purchased), and you can even search for a point amount to shoot for.
Find the challenge you want and go for it. You can either select your created golfer or a real life professional (including Tiger himself). You can retry the challenge over and over until you Bust it, or give up...or until the game freezes (which it only did on me during the online challege modes).

There are some amazing clips out there, so have fun.

On a side note, you can also upload your own challenges while you are attempting to beat others. I'm not sure if the "producer points" add to your GamerNet total, but if you think you cannot be beat, post it for others to humble you.

Do you have to have a season pass?

So it doesn't need to be earned in one day it is cumulative right? Was noticing you have a time limit and played a little the other day and today it is reset. But cumulative is so much better.

Yes, it's a cumulative total. Got mine over the course of a few days.

Do the points you get for playing in LIVE tournaments count toward this achievement...in other words...could one just play the daily tournaments to get this?

St Jolly777, not sure about the LIVE tournaments...haven't played any yet. All I can suggest is to check your point amount before you try a tournament, then compare afterwards. Please let me know if it counts towards your total and I'll update the solution.

You can also earn this achievement through "Road to the Masters" single player mode. But, by default the option to get GamerNet points in the single player mode is turned off.

All you have to do is choose "My Career" > "Game Options" > Set "EA SPORTS GamerNet Daily Challenges" to ON...

It then puts the GamerNet challenges for drives and par 3 closest to holes through your single player play-throughs automatically. BUT, it will not award the achievement unless you go and look at your GamerNet totals as the solution states. I got midway through year three and had 3,800 GamerNet points. The achievement only unlocked when I viewed my GamerNet points thas stated in the solution.

They do close them but they're not likely to close the server for this one until either 14 comes out or a new console comes out and they shutdown all of this gens servers. They do it like that with FIFA. FIFA 11 has servers still, and probably will do until FIFA 13 is out.

Question - I was wondering, do EA still close their servers on these games? I want to get this game to 1000g it cause I'm really good at them, but I don't want to buy it and the servers close as soon as 2013 comes out?

This Achievement is for accumulating 2,500 gamernet points during any eligible game modes.

The other solutions are not incorrect so i am not going to tell you how to sink eggs.

What the other solutions do not state is:

When playing single player modes like career whilst connected to xbox live and ea servers gamernet is integral to the single player game and you can therefore accumulate substantial gamernet points for beating or getting close to posted challenges during single player career, just the same as you can post gamernet challenges from most single player game modes.

Once you have accumulated 2,500 points or more enter the Gamernet challenge section of xbox live from the quick play menu and this achievement will pop instantly without having to play a single specific challenge.

Useful if for example you spend an hour or 3 chasing 25 aces on Augusta Par 3 first hole from the career mode Masters challenge, then you will be bound to accumulate sufficient points for all your getting close shots.

Servers are closing soon for this game, so get this done ASAP, guys. Last year (2012), EA shut down servers for Tiger 2011 in October, so there might still be the summer, but I didn't want to wait around and have the rug pulled from under me on this.

Here's how to get all of the online aspect of the game done in a night without having to buy the online pass (the game offers you a two day free trial, ACCEPT that):

Check out the perfectly clear guides for "Hold my bag as I post this clip" and "Online Participation" to get those out of the way (they take literally two minutes to get), and then dive in on this one. Click on Quickplay, Xbox Live, EA GamerNet, Online Challenges, and then Long Drive.

This is the non-ridiculous quasi-fool-proof way of getting the GamerNet Tourist achievement in about two hours. Make sure the challenges you're selecting are "Beaten", firstly. I had great success by changing the search (X button) to "rating", and then picking off the lower-valued drives of under a hundred points. There are a few somewhat easily attainable 600+ point drives, all wind-aided, but a lot of these require maxed out created golfers that I didn't have yet. I achieved this all with Tiger Woods (his power boost puts him ahead of Bubba Watson in the game), and with minimal failing and retrying. You only need 2500 pts, so don't worry about slow progress.

To finish the online aspect of the game, you'll need to complete 10 online games for a pin, and win 10 for another pin. The shortest option here is "3 hole", and can easily be finished with a boosting partner.

Good luck getting this before the server closures, and hopefully for cheap.
