How to unlock the Pin Collector achievement in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters - Definitive Guide
Please Note: This guide is somewhat incomplete. If there is anything I may have missed, please feel free to let me know in comments. Thanks.
Second Note: You can earn an achievement by placing 3 earned pins on your bag tag. You can do this in the Pin Awards area.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You must collect all of the pins in your career, all of which can be found by going to Road to the Masters -> My Career -> Pin Awards
1. Drive Bomber - 350+ yards from the tee, land on fairway, green, fringe or in cup..
This can be accomplished easily on St. Andrews course with winds set to Windy. Make sure that the wind is at your back, or else this won't work. The best hole to do this on is hole 4, since the wind usually is at your back. When teeing off, power up as best you can, and make sure you land it on the fairway. St. Andrews fairways are fairly large and hard to miss, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
----------
2. First Birdie - Get the first Birdie of your career.
This one isn't too hard. All you have to do is sink the ball in one under par. This can easily be done on the Augusta Par 3 course if you want to get it out of the way.
----------
3. First Eagle - Get the first Eagle of your career.
This is a bit tougher than getting a birdie, but it's not that hard either. This requires you to sink the ball in two under par. This is most easily done on the par 5's of either St. Andrews or Melbourne, as they seem to be the shortest of any of the courses in the game. Just make sure you land the ball on the green and close to the cup on your second shot.
----------
4. First Ace - Get the first Ace of your career.
This one is hard. This requires you to sink the ball from the tee in one shot (no hazards). The easiest way to do this is to set up a game on the Augusta Par 3 course with Members tees, calm winds, and sunny skies. The easiest holes to sink are 1, 2, 3 and 9. It will take some time, but eventually you will get dialed in, and may sink a few in one round.
----------
5. Flagstick Seeker - Hit the flagstick for the first time.
This one takes some patience, and you will most likely get this when making a chip shot or other shot from outside the green. This requires you to hit the flagstick while it is still in the cup. You will know you have hit it when it makes a *clink*.
----------
6. 25 Birdies - Get 25 career Birdies.
7. 50 Birdies - Get 50 career Birdies.
8. 100 Birdies - Get 100 career Birdies.
9. 250 Birdies - Get 250 career Birdies.
These ones you will accumulate over time by sinking your ball in one under par on a hole. Just follow the solution for #2.
----------
10. 10 Eagles - Get 10 career Eagles.
11. 25 Eagles - Get 25 career Eagles.
12. 50 Eagles - Get 50 career Eagles.
13. 100 Eagles - Get 100 career Eagles.
These ones you will accumulate over time by sinking your ball in two under par on a hole. Just follow the solution for #3.
----------
14. 10 Aces - Get 10 career Aces.
15. 25 Aces - Get 25 career Aces.
There is no easy way to do this. At all. The best way, and the way I have got to 14, is by playing the Augusta Par 3 course over and over. Make sure you set the tees to Members, speed to Average, wind to Calm, and weather to Sunny. The easiest holes to Ace are 1, 2, 3 and 9.
Also, TYR I MATT wrote a good guide on getting Ace's
16. 6 Birdie Streak - Get 6 Birdies in a row.
17. 12 Birdie Streak - Get 12 Birdies in a row.
18. 18 Birdie Streak - Get 18 Birdies in a row.
These three require that you accumulate x amount of Birdies or better in a row. The easiest course to complete this on is either Melbourne or St. Andrews in my opinion. Make sure to set the tees on Easy, speed on Average, wind on Calm, and weather on Sunny.
----------
19. Back To Back Eagles - Get 2 Eagles in a row.
Pretty self-explanitory. You must sink two Eagles in a row. The easiest course to do this on is Melbourne as it has a few short Par 4's that you can make the green in one. Make sure you power is at a decent level before attempting this. I'd say anywhere beyond 80% is safe.
----------
20. Eagle Extravaganza - Get 4 Eagles in a round.
Most courses have 4 Par 5 holes. Again, I'd say the easiest course to achieve this is Melbourne, or even East Lake is fairly good. You must get at least 4 Eagles in one round to complete this pin.
----------
21. Eagle Hunt - Eagle every par 5 on 12 courses.
No easy way around this one. You must make an Eagle on EVERY par 5 hole on 12 different courses. You can track which holes you have eagled when before you tee off on a given hole. It will be displayed on the upper right side.
----------
22. Hazard Free Round - No water, bunker, out of bounds or lateral hazards for an entire round.
This is one self-explanitory. You cannot hit your ball into a hazard for an entire round.
----------
23. No Focus - Use no focus during a round.
To earn this one, you are not allowed to use any focus for an entire round. This means no powering up your shot, no putting back/forward spin on the ball mid-flight and no putt preview.
----------
24. Hole Out From Bunker - Hole Out from any bunker on the course.
To complete this pin, you must sink you ball from any bunker on any course. There's no real easy courses to do this on, except maybe #16 on TPC San Antonio as the bunker is in the middle of the green.
----------
25. Up And Down From Bunker - Hit out of the Bunker onto the green and sink the putt.
This requires you to hit out of any bunker on a course onto the green, and then sink your putt. This may be easier on #16 of TPC San Antonio as the bunker is in the middle of the green.
----------
26. Presidents Cup - Start The Presidents Cup
All you have to do for this one is to start the Presidents Cup. Go to the main menu, then Quick Play -> Presidents Cup and follow the screen. Once you have started the game, you will get the pin. Now you can either complete it, or just back out of it, but there is an achievement for completing the Presidents Cup.
----------
27. Caddie Book Of Gold - Master 16 Courses.
Please see the solutions for this achievement:
----------
28. Prototype - Unlock the Prototype clubs.
This requires you to unlock the H1 prototype clubs. Each prototype club can be unlocked by unlocking all clubs in their respective sets. To achieve this pin, you must unlock all of the club sets (drivers, fairway woods, irons, wedges and putters).
----------
29. Online Competitor - Complete 10 Online Games.
You must play in and complete 10 online games. Note that unranked games DO NOT count towards this total.
----------
30. Online Champ - Win 10 Online Games.
You must play in and win 10 online games. Note that unranked games DO NOT count towards this total.
The easiest way to do this is to have 1 other friend who is willing to take up to 10 losses online. Start up a ranked match and set it to "3 Hole Mini Match". Don't start it yet until your friend is on the Browse Sessions screen. Once there, start the match and tell your friend to join your room. As long as you are fast any many people aren't playing, you're pretty safe and it's fairly easy.
----------
31. First Win - First Career Win.
You will earn this pin when you win your first event on the Road to the Masters.
----------
32. Event Champion - Win 1 PGA Tour Event.
33. Five Time Champion - Win 5 PGA Tour Events.
34. Ten Times A Champ - Win 10 PGA Tour Events.
You will earn these pins as you progress through the PGA Tour in the Road to the Masters. Win the number of PGA Tour events specified for each pin.
----------
35. Back To Back Champion - Win 2 PGA Tour Events in a row.
Self-explanitory. You must win two PGA Tour events back to back to earn this pin.
----------
36. Q-School - Complete Q-School.
This will be unlocked once you have passed Q-School, which you must pass to move on to the PGA Tour. You will also complete this achievement
----------
37. Nationwide Tour - Win a Nationwide Tour Event.
You must win a Nationwide Tour event to earn this pin. Nationwide Tour takes place before Q-School, and is the beginning to your career.
----------
38. US Open Championship - Win the US Open Championship.
39. UK Open - Win the UK Open.
40. EA Sports Championship - Win the EA Sports Championship.
41. Masters Master - Win the Masters Tournament.
To earn these pins, win the corresponding events listed.
----------
42. Delivery Boy - Win the FedExCup.
You must be in #1 spot in the FedEx Cup Leaderboard by the end of the season (FedEx Cup Championship Tournament) to earn this pin.
----------
43. I'm #1 - Reach #1 in the EA Sports Golf Rankings.
You must become #1 in the EA Sports Leaderboard to earn this pin. You will also earn this achievement
To get to #1, you must win many tournaments and challenge Tiger for his #1 spot. Each tournament you win earns you points that will move you up in the slots. If you win each tournament your first season, you should be at or near (within 5 slots) #1 by the end of the season.
----------
44. Masters Moments - Master all 9 Moments.
This is one pin I am very proud of earning. You must master, not just pass, all 9 Masters Moments. Go to Road to the Masters -> Masters Moments to view and challenge them. I won't even try to explain how to do them. Hopefully someone will post videos soon, and I will link them here when they become available.

Also, TYR I MATT wrote a good guide on getting Ace's
Like many others i chose the par 3 course to try and get the 25 aces. Like previosuly advised i played holes 1,3 and 9. A few things that i found is that most of the time (if you have gold mastery level on the course) the caddie will set you up a shot that will go in, if not very near. If you dont exactly match the correct % needed for the shot then you can get out of the problem by using spin. However, dont go crazy! i found just a few taps of the spin button in the air can have a dramatic difference when the ball lands. Also after playing for a while you start to learn how the greens break so you know which way to spin and by how much. I also changed the clubs in my back to all wedges by going to My Golfer -> In the Bag. (you have to remove a few other clubs to do this, i chose 3,4,5 iron as i wouldnt be using them in the round) I also switched back to the EA wedges which have a 99% sweet spot. The reason for this was there were a few occasions early on where i managed to (luckly) match the correct % for a shot only for it to miss because i had slightly miss hit the shot with the analouge stick. With the EA wedges you would really have to miss hit the shot for it to have any effect on the direction.
So in short
1. Dont over do the spin
2. Get all the wedges possible in your bag
3. Change to EA wedges with 99% sweet spot
This method got me 20 Aces in just over an hour

That reminds me, my tips for Mickelson and Sarazen mastery:
Mickelson: Use a 3-wood or your longest iron, aim for the left side of the green, draw/fade your aim towards the hole. (3-wood should be good @ 100% with maxed power; your iron will probably require boost.)
Sarazen: 3/5-iron, depending on the wind. Use forward spin to aim your target right around the water line in front of the green. Use in-air spin where necessary/helpful. Note that the shot will naturally go about 1 square or so to the right of the hole so adjust accordingly. Repeat x1000 until you get a lucky roll into the cup.

Howdy. This is an addendum to the various guides above that all give tips on how to get the 25 Aces pin. That pin was frustrating me to no end (even following the guides above), and I finally came up with a system that allowed me to repeat a hole as much as possible with the identical wind and pin placement. Here's what you need to do:
1) There are many ways to get aces. However, you are only *awarded the aces pins* if you get a hole in one during the Road To The Masters mode. If you follow the steps below, you will get 24 aces quickly with the exact same pin position/weather, and then you'll need to go into the RTTM mode for the final one and get awarded the pins.
2) The secret is that you will be replaying a GamerNet single-hole challenge. Go to Play Now > Xbox Live > EA Sports Gamernet > Online Challenges > Scroll to the Right > Select Single Hole.
3) Once there, you will want to scan through the challenges until you find one that is a hole in one. You may have to scan through a couple until you find one that seems like an easy hole in one. Remember, the pin placement and weather will be the same for every attempt! I ended up using one that was a hole in one on the fourth hole of TPC Scottsdale.
4) Play the challenge. If you don't get a hole in one, you can just retry the challenge. You won't have to wait for the loading time of a new hole, and the weather and pin placement will be exactly the same!
5) The only downside is that once you do get a hole in one you will get booted back to the Gamernet menu and you will need to find that challenge again. Even with this delay I found this way *much* quicker than trying August Par 3 or making a custom course with all the same hole (mainly because the wind/pin changes would keep messing up my shot. With this method, once you have your shot down it becomes very easy to get a hole in one repeatedly. I ended up getting around 20 aces in about an hour and a half.
6) Remember that your stats will not be saved UNLESS you see the "Saving PLAYERNAME" pane swipe up at the bottom of the screen. I bring this up because the method I describe here will not save your Hole In One tally until you do something else that actually saves your character. So, when you are done with some hole in ones and want to save your tally, go into Road To Masters mode and start playing an event or course mastery course. Once the first hole comes up, quit out from that round and it will save your progress. I did not realize this the first time and lost 4 hole in ones because I quit the game before saving.
7) The final step to get the ace pins is to actually get a hole in one during the RTTM mode. To do this, I just followed the same advice as some of the guides above. During the RTTM mode I got to the Masters even, and played the Sponsor Challenge. This starts you on the Augusta Par 3 course. Just play the first hole over and over until you get an ace. If your first shot doesn't go in, you can hit the start button and replay the hole without waiting for the normal load times. The difference here is that the weather will be different for every shot. Once you get a hole in one, the pin should pop during the screen shown between holes. Once the next hole loads, you can quit the round and go to the pin viewer to see your new pins.
Let me know if you have any questions ...

I tried several methods to boost Aces and the single hole Gamernet challenges is definitely the best solution. I got the 21 that I needed in about 45 mins by replaying the same challenge over and over. Thanks!

I've been attempting to follow this guide very closely for over an hour, but no matter what I do, none of my hole-in-one shots on GamerNet Challenges (4 total: 3 in Single Hole Challenge, and even one in Freestyle) have registered in my player stats. The Hole-in-One stat simply doesn't increase, either immediately after returning to the main menu from GamerNet, or after going into RTTM mode, playing a hole, and then clicking Save and Quit and seeing the "Saving PLAYERNAME" pane swipe up at the bottom of the screen.
Any idea about what I might be doing wrong? Maybe EA Tiburon patched the game to prevent this exploit? *confused*

For the 25 Aces pin, the sponsor challenge at The Masters will speed things up a bit. The sponsor challenge is played on the par 3 course, starting you at hole 1 which is one of the easier holes to ace.
Take your tee shot, if you miss, you can restart the event. It will restart instantly so this saves the load times of playing multiple holes or playing and restarting a practice hole. If you ace the first hole, you can restart once the 2nd hole loads and play the sponsor challenge again, the ace on the first hole will be saved. Repeat until you have your pin.
A way I found to be a little more consistent than the ways listed in other guides is the punch shot. Again, this is on the 1st hole of the Augusta par 3. I left the aiming circle exactly where it started out when I switched to a custom shot, took out my 8 iron and changed the shot selection to punch. Hit it at 100% and put forward spin on it while it's in the air (not the most spin you can put on it or you'll bounce off the flag, I figure use about 2/3 - 3/4 of the maximum spin) Once I figured out the break of the initial bounce, I was almost always within a few feet of the cup. I got an ace 1 out of every 8-10 shots, which is much better than I was doing using the caddy selections. I've also found the 2nd to be fairly easy to ace with a LW punch shot with full choke, and some slight adjustments to the aiming and spin. Several times I got back to back aces on 1 and 2.
Obviously with either of these, you'll have to adjust for wind. I have 100% swing speed and am not boosting my power on either of these holes, so you may need to make some adjustments based on your stats.

Restarting Hole #1 in the Master's Sponsor Challenge has been working very well for me, getting an ace every 4-5 tries. I'm not using the punch shot, rather, just using my caddies recommendation (at gold level, BTW), and a touch of spin if necessary. Once I get an Ace on Hole #1, I wait for the next hole to load, then quit out and restart the sponsor challenge. I've gotten 5 aces in about 30 minutes.

Brilliant solution to the only pin that really needs a solution in the first place :)

This is a guide for people struggling to get the 25 hole in one pin.
Its more rewarding to get the hole-in-ones when playing regular events but you can make it easier like i did. I have 28 aces after 85 rounds. First I did try the August Par 3 over and over but it was difficult because of the hole variation. So after several testing I did this:
Choose Play Now
Create a custom course with Par 3 holes only (I chose a Par 3 from Pebble Beach)
White Tees
Calm Wind
Amateur setting and Three Click (watch the caddy recommended shots as they are usually off by a little - use spin when the ball is in flight to adjust the roll)
Use Basic Wedge set (this allows bigger sweet spot and doesnt affect mishits if you use Advanced and higher Wedges)
I averaged about 3-4 Aces per round
The only catch is the Aces will record for your tally but NOT towards the Pin award. You can imagine my disbelief after scoring over 10 Aces the first couple rounds. However, once I played Augusta Par 3 under Play Now and aced an hole, it counted what I had and gave me the Pin Award.
Hope this helps!

The solutions listed above are great but I just wanted to add one little tidbit that helped me on the Masters Moments. You have the ability to change up the clubs in your bag under the My Golfer option - I equipped all of the beginner EA clubs for the last 2 Masters Moments and made sure that the 1 through 7 irons were in the bag. I found this gave my caddie more options especially the Phil Mickelson challenge. I ended up getting that one done with a 2 iron at 99% (2 feet to the pin) within roughly 15 attempts.
The double eagle challenge was a bit tougher because you need to hole out but using the 2 and 3 iron really paid off. Took another 30 minutes for this one. I hope this helps!

I thought I would share an easy method of getting 25 aces quite quickly. I had 7 from normal play they were flukes, I then racked up 24 from this method:
1. Go into Quick Play - Xbox LIVE - EA Sports Gamernet.
2. Then go into Online Challenges - Single Hole.
3. Press Y for search options and change course to Augusta Par 3 then press search.
4. Find a challenge by NOV01 called Augusta Par 3 9, it has a purple face with blue features.
5.Once the challenge loads, change to CUSTOM shot and place the marker on the third vertical grid line to the right of the flag and drop it down to 91%.
6.Try and hit between 90 and 96% with full mid air back spin, you may have to tweak slightly but you can keep playing the same hole till you have 24 aces then all you need is to get one on RTTM mode and both pins will unlock (10 & 25 aces pin if you dont have the pin for 10 aces yet.
7. If you dont do it in one sitting then make sure you save the game as the online challenges wont register. Just start a round in RTTM mode then SAVE & QUIT. Hope this helps!!
