How to unlock the Successful Matador achievement in Tony Hawk: Ride - Definitive Guide
1 is a simple 5-0 grind (hold the tail on the board down), grab, then grind-manual-grind link. Nothing too hard.
2 requires an advanced (do a grab while covering the bottom sensor) grab, followed by THREE unique grinds on three benches. Do a nose grind, 5-0 grind, and another for simplicity.
3 is a simple jump to manual, then an advanced flip trick. You won't be able to pull off the flip trick if you hold the manual, so get out of the manual as soon as you land it from the ollie.
4 is an advanced flip trick, grind transfer, then a spine transfer with a flip trick. Again, nothing too difficult. For the spine, tilt the front of the board down and tilt it slightly for the flip.
5. Fuck challenge 5. You have to do a spine transfer, nose grind to nollie, and an invert to top it off. The first half of that is easy. Doing a nollie OFF into the pool area barely works. I found that if you tilt slightly to the right when you do it, you're more likely to get it.
The invert is what messes most people up. The ramp is just too small. And simply put, it just doesn't register like it should. You'll either do a grab or just miss it completely.
Firstly, I'd say calibrate your board for this. It DOES make a difference.
Second, if you're playing with your hands rather than your feet, DONT. Play it legit, trust me. And lastly, once you come up to the revert, DONT cover the top sensor completely, hold your hand out from it a foot or so. I tried this and got it fairly easily. This is why it's imperative to do this standing up.
Oh, and you can't fall off the board at all. You can go out of bounds or fail a challenge, but you can't bail.
One thing you might want to add to your description is that if you bail, you have to exit the session, you can't just redo the challenges. You have to hit Start / Exit Session, and open the session again, or the achievement won't pop.
I have only managed flick tricks in the training, after that never again. Before that I couldn't do them at all and found weird discussions online about how the flick tricks don't work for a lot of people. Then they suddenly worked for me (I started the game without updating but I don't think that was the cause) and I could easily pull them off. Now that I'm left with this achievement I can't do flick tricks again (just like in the whole thing after the training). Any idea what's going on?
Second, inverts are BAD. I did the Todd twist instead of said invert many times and was very frustrated. I also did the challenges without bailing and doing that pause method, which didn't work. DO NOT keep trying them over if you bail as you won't obtain the achievement. If you bail exit session back out and try again! Good luck fellow Shredders! (Pun Intended*)
You just have to be quick with it.

This is the hardest trophy in the game. It always gives me a lot of headaches and as soon as this trophy is done, you will probably have no more problems achieving the platinum. You need to beat all 5 challenges without bailing once; as soon as you bail you have to quit the challenge and restart it from the menu. I really recommend that you do this on Casual, as I'd say it's nearly impossible to be done on Hardcore.
The hardest challenges in my opinion are number 2 and 5. Practice all of them until you can do them pretty well, then try to start with the challenge that is the hardest for you.
If you are close to bailing, but haven't bailed yet, you can quickly pause the game and reselect the challenge. So the bail does not count and you dont have to do everything all over.
Do all the 5 challenges in any order you want and you will unlock this bitch of a trophy.
TIP: If you can't do a certain challenge with your feet, play with your hands. This helps for sure, to be honest I used my hands for this trophy as well.
