How to unlock the Human Spring achievement in Track and Field - Definitive Guide

You'll run towards the bar on autopilot (you can set him off yourself by moving the analogue stick or pressing a run button). Tap the jump button as soon as his head passes the 'i' of 'Konami' which is part of the background graphics (if you press it too late he'll either run straight in to the mat or you'll knock the bar off as you go up). Let him rise and when he leans back you can tap the jump button a few more times to nudge him closer to the bar. As soon as he flips his legs up, hold the jump button to move him all the way over to the right.

Not many people realise that if you run as soon as you've pressed jump for the first time then he'll go a lot higher which makes the jump so much easier and is how you get the world records (2.51m is my best so far!)

To get the achievement you'll need to clear 7 jumps (2.15, 2.25, 2.30, 2.35, 2.36, 2.37 & 2.38) and you can afford to fail twice as you'll get 3 attempts to get there.

Fast forward to 4.33 on the video below to see somebody doing the High Jump although he stops before reaching 2.38 but you'll get the idea.

deleted mine now as this was superior, I may have to try this game again to see how high I can get if I keep running!

Awesome work! Finally got it 4 years later because of the running tip. Got the 200 today!

The solution is both helpful and misleading. He doesn't flip his legs or lean back until you press the action button.

The information about him flipping his legs up comes after the part where I mention pressing the jump button. I don't really see it as being misleading...

Yep. When the event starts, you only have to press a run button once (or move the stick) and the computer then runs for you but, as soon as you press the jump button, you can greatly increase your height by hitting the run buttons or wiggling your stick (I can't say which buttons as you can set them to whatever you want).

You can keep running until he reaches the top of his arc. You can also keep adjusting the angle to get him closer to the bar until he flips his legs up, then hold the jump button down to move him over, this will help to stop his feet knocking the bar off on the way down.

Needed this to help me with the Jake Jump event, even with the guide took me forever to figure it out, but without it wouldn't ever have got it, so thanks!

I just got the "Perfection" achievement in the first round. I continued to the second round where qualifying results are harder to reach. I then made it to the last event - high jump. To clear this in the second round you actually need 2.38m. I failed the first two tries and then made it to 2.40m without a mistake which gave me the achievement. I qualified for the third round where I got the bird catcher achievement on purpose and thus 100%. Whew :).

Thank you so very much for this guide! I was doing horribly at the high jump until I read you should run after you jump. I would have never 100 percented the achievements without your help.
