How to unlock the Flying Solo achievement in Trine 2 - Definitive Guide

Go through 2nd level using only the wizard, make sure you start as the wizard if not change to him and restart level. If you die return to last checkpoint. You can make tower of boxes etc across gaps or use the levitate trick in the video, I found the stacking boxes easiest. Achievement unlocks after fighting the dragon. Also if you die at the very end before end cut scene it still unlocks. *Video credits to Sturmtiger1942*

Added Info:Ok I done this three times and no achievement so I quit to dashboard n redone it and it popped, I think if you previously complete the levels with other characters for other achievements then try this it doesn't register, make sure when you load up the game its the first thing you do. - Lil Miss Cherry

If anyone should wonder, this does not work playing with more then one gamer even though you follow the rules. =3 - WhistIing Wolf

I finished the level twice with using just Amadeus. The achievement didn't pop.

First of all, Amadeus is the wizard! And I also tried this today with only the 3 boxes ability unlocked (no monster levitation which was a pain to say the least..) and it didn't pop for me also. I died more than 30 times(!) and always used the "Return to Last Checkpoint" option. I'll try again with monster levitation and I'll update...

I wasn't aware of the wizard name. I only died once near the end.

That could be the cause. I added the info to the solution.

I tried Cherrys trick of dashboarding this before even attempting it, and can confirm being dead on the last checkpoint doesnt void this achievement. The snakes final strike killed me as I killed him.

YES, I got this in the third level, Mudwater Dale, and I did it with ZOYA! Yes you got it right, with Zoya and without dying once. It's possible but only with skill so keep trying it with Amadeus ;)

I'm with you. I have done this twice now with Amadeus and no cheevo! I use the box trick and get through the level with only a few deaths. What gives? Do I need to reset my experience?

Quit to dashboard after changing to the wizard on level 2. Died one time and pressed start and reloaded checkpoint. Died at the end from the snake while I killed the snake.

Tried again and it unlocked after i beat the level without dying at all on the 2nd attempt. But I had to wait a long time before it unlocked when the 3rd level was almost loading.

OK, tried again with Amadeus on 2nd level. Despite having Amadeus selected as my first player, I restarted and got him again. Had reset all my experience and had him fully upgraded. Monster levitation was a huge help, I only died 3 or 4 times and 2 of them were while fighting the snake boss in the end. All times I died I pressed >start and "Return to Last Checkpoint". Because I wasn't sure I dodged the final snake's attack, while watching the end scene with the floor collapsing I pressed again "Return to last Checkpoint" which of course did nothing but wanted to be on the safe side, in case the game registered Amadeus dead and 1 of other 2 characters as the winner of the fight. Obviously, I wouldn't suggest to anyone doing all this on your first try, I did it because I didn't get it on my first try. I guess if you start with Amadeus, choose "Return to Last Checkpoint" every time you die and have Monster Levitation and 3-box abilities, you should get it quite easily!

PS: The only thing wrong with this game is that I have completed it achievement-wise, but I'm half-way through the story... Seems a bit pointless, but I guess I'll finish it. A great game, regardless!

So, I died several times and still got it once I finished the level. Here's how:

I went to multiplayer and started a private match on level 3. I selected the wizard and then restarted the level so you start with the wizard. Then, while your playing the level, f you die, just pause and restart checkpoint. I died several times b/c its hard to kill the enemies while playing as just the wizard.

As for the level, I can't really give any tips b/c I just built a box and managed to make it through the level.

I played through level 2 three times, but the achievement didn't pop so I continued onto level 3 (I had read your solution recommending to do it on level 3), and it popped as soon as I finished the level.

I actually found it easier on this level. I'm quite surprised that most other guides ignore level 3 in favour of level 2. I didn't die once.

Thumbs up from me! smile

Thumbs up for me. I tried doing this on level two, but you run risk of dying at the end of the level from the snake, and not getting the achievement. Level 3 was easier, and less risk.

Thumbs up for me. I tried this, as so many other people, in level two on solo. No achievement! One try in level 3 as described in your solution => achievement poped up.

Did it in the 3rd level Mudwater Dale with Zoya. It's possible with skill.

Setting up like this worked perfectly for me - level 2, lots of dying, including at the end. Still popped. Thanks!

Select the second chapter, and be sure that you are playing as the wizard. If you are not playing as the wizard at the start of the level, just switch to this character, and quit to the menu. The next time you select the chapter, you will start as the last character you used.

Play through the whole level as the wizard, use monster levitation (and boxes) to get rid of the goblins, and be sure not to switch to other characters. When you die (if you die at all), just enter the menu and restart the last checkpoint. The trophy will pop shortly after you defeat the boss and trigger the cutscene.

As the trophy name suggests, this cannot be earned in a co-op game. For this trophy choose Chapter 2, and use the Wizard. By default, the game starts a level with the character you played as last. So if it starts the chapter as the Knight or Thief, simply switch to the Wizard and restart the level. Your objective is to get from start to finish without switching characters.

This is easiest if you have a fully upgraded Wizard. If you need to, reset your skills on the skill screen by pressing and then allocate all of your skill points to the Wizard. You will absolutely need monster levitation. Additional boxes and planks are not necessary, but really help.

The only tricky part of this level is the giant snake boss. To beat him, immediately conjure a box on the ground as you enter his lair. Jump up to the topmost ledge and wait for a second. The snake will snap at you. You will need to jump out of the way, otherwise you are eaten. If you successfully get out of the way, the snake will destroy the top support. From here, use your box to break the other two supports and the snake will be crushed. There is a single infinite-spawning goblin in this area too. He can be a bit annoying. You can levitate him in front of the snake's fire blasts to kill him, or drop a box on him.

Note that if you die, you can immediately pause and hit "restart checkpoint" and you WILL still get the trophy.

I tried to pass the first level 3 times in different ways, but they didn’t give me the trophy. In my opinion, you MUST COMPLETE this level WITHOUT DYING. As soon as I found out, I did it right away on the first try.

As soon as you die, you can immediately press pause and select “Start from last checkpoint.” I died 10 times during the level and 5 times on the boss, and they still gave me the trophy.

It is easiest to pass the 3rd level as a magician, the main thing is that you need to start the level as a magician, you can die, here is a video to help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CLSkY0eWm0 at this level you can make half of all trophies in the game.

It’s really better to complete the level with a magician, and in some places it’s impossible to cope with other characters. I just want to add that I got this trophy by returning once to the previous checkpoint (I managed to die with the snake, it was a pity to restart the level) in the pause menu. So, it is not necessary to pass without dying; by the way, the trophy was given for the 3rd time of replaying the level. For some reason they didn’t want to give me the previous times, even though I didn’t die.

Checked 3 times. Several features of this trophy:

1) You can die, but you need to be resurrected only through the menu and restart from the last checkpoint.

2) To get this trophy the first time, you need to immediately select the character you want to pass the level with in the very first menu (where you can run as a character) (optimally a wizard), and you need to pass a level that you have not yet completed before. Otherwise, the trophy can be given only after 2-3 passages by one character of a level that has ALREADY been completed previously.

3) Optimal chapters - 2nd and 3rd. The optimal character is a Wizard. The optimal skills are “capturing the enemy”, “the ability to create 2(3) items” and “creating a board”. With these perks you will pass these levels without any problems.

You can die as many times as you like, for example, I died fifteen times while completing the level for this trophy.

There are just two nuances here, the first is when the game loads and you see the inscription press the start button, immediately switch to the Mage using the buttons or , then in the level selection menu, launch the second stage, you will start with exactly the character you chose in the main menu, then go through it completely as a Mage and receive this trophy.

The second caveat is that if you die while passing the level, do not press the buttons or in order to be at the last checkpoint (with this action you also switch characters), just press the Start button and select the menu item to start the game from the last checkpoint, at which you will again appear as a Mage and can calmly progress through the level further, you can repeat as many times as you like, I was given the trophy the first time, despite the large number of deaths per level.

It should also be noted that the more pumped up your magician is, the easier it will be to complete the level.
