You don't need to be online to get this achievement, the game grid is also available offline so you can get this achievement at any time during the game by entering the grid and playing any game against the bots until you level up.

Multiplayer > create match > game mode setup > set match type to private. The game will fill the match with bots up the the max players count.

Also, you apparently get 60 points per bot kill plus a 900 point match winner bonus. The minimum kills in disintegration is 5 so it takes about 2 minutes to get 1200 EXP. I had 8000 EXP to my next level at 23 and it took me about 15 minutes to level up in the game grid.

If you're level 50 already then you can't pop this achievement.

I believe game data is saved to a file on your drive and not to the profile, so you could try deleting the savefile to see if you can reset your level.

I finished insane mode so this was my only one left
I deleted the file and it reset my level so I got it with no problem

You need to level up whilst playing online. This is a lot easier done before starting the campaign, pop online and you should be level 2 within minutes.

You need to level up whilst playing on the game grid.

Can be done offline verse bots, access the game grid and play until it pops.

The Game Grid simply means "online/Xbox Live play", so you need to gain enough experience by playing online matches to level up once. This can be done at any time as your experience carries over across online and offline modes.

Alternately, you can do this as your first acheivement in one match with these settings:

  • Type: Private Match
  • Game Mode: Disintegration
  • Maps: Heat Sink
  • Max Players: 10
  • Time limit: 10 Minutes
  • Score limit: 20 points

Once the game is setup, just start the match without inviting anyone and it will be you against 9 bots. Start racking up the kills using the basic attack/melee combo to gain experience until the achievement unlocks. You should only have to kill 5 or 6 guys if you do this while still version (level) 1.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is possible to grind all the way to level 50 by replaying the single player campaign and NOT get this achievement. If you find yourself in this situation, the only fix is to delete your save game data  and clear your cache. This will reset your online level back to 1.

To do this, you need to play in a network game, you can with bots, but you must get the level in a network game and not in a single player. If you have no one to play with, play with bots.
To play with bots you need to select a private match and a map where there are no motorcycles. Click to start the game, and bots will appear in the game. Play until you get a level, it's not difficult.

Important : If you level up to level 50 in the company without opening the level online. The only way to get this achievement is to delete your saves and clear your memory cache. Your rank will drop by 1 and you will be able to level up one level online.
