At any time during an online hole (this includes pre-first shot and after sinking your shot and finishing), you can select one of 16 emotes from the D-Pad 
, ranging from well wishes and happiness to anger.
Simply select one of the 4 directional arrows (

, 
) to open the emote list at the bottom of the screen, then select one of those 4 arrows again to choose your emote.
The tally counts once per hole, so no matter how many times your emote during the hole, it only counts for 1. Play 30 holes, emote 30 times, and the achievement is yours.
